I wish you pointed out that during the chase, Jack and Jill shoot at them and humpty says “hey that was close!” As if it were him being actually shocked at near death but I believe it was more of him telling Jack and Jill that they literally shot too close and to reel it back a bit.
it's the most middle of the road Shrek movie out of all of them. not as good as The Last Wish, 1, and 2, but it is a lot better than The Third and Forever After
Even though the second film is better, I still hold a special place in my heart for this one. Kitty Softpaws should definitely get her own spin off movie.
While the second film was a masterpiece, I was shocked by how genuinely good this one was when I went back and rewatched it after like a decade. Like people don't get how actually great it is.
The thing I love most about the Puss In Boots movies is the great rewatch potential. Like Humpty distracting Puss and disapproving of Kitty befriending him, you only realize what that was for after the rewatch. Or in The Last Wish, Goldi drawing her features over a girl next to a human family in her childhood book. They always add foreshadowing and attention to detail, it’s impressive
It's been 11 years and I JUST noticed that the center of the P 1:17 should be supposed to fall but I'm just assuming puss is just so smooth that he can break the laws of physics
@@expensive-brother yeah, I guess it’s kinda up to preference. I personally prefer the more stylized animation of the last wish but I can totally see how it’s subjective
The 'oooooo' cat at 3:48 made me and my mum laugh so much when I watched this movie as a kid that it spawned a running joke in the family that still goes on today
Dreamworks is amazing, because even their supposed cashgrab spin-offs and milking sequels are still incredibly polished and well made and have detail and everything. So good. Like, just look at the Kung Fu Panda series. Or Madagascar! Even _if_ there's a decline in quality, which isn't always the case, there is still clearly heart put into it. Not to mention a ton of effort for the animation alone. Reminds me of BlueSky and their Ice Age franchise. Milked dry to the bone with sequels, yet always incredibly well made.
Absolutely, Dreamworks is kind of the king of sequels in my eyes. It would be so easy to try to replicate a first movie's success by doing the same thing, but they _continue_ their stories in a way that feels natural and engaging.
9:55 From the cat bops, his pupils expanding but also becoming thin, his goosebumps/hair rising, his teeth, his tail slightly rising while facing down, and even the fact that he doesn't pull out his claws when hitting. Cats do this as an attempt to enforce dominance, not as a defense or attack. I love how much directors and writers put effort into studying animal behavior to make these wholesome jokes in animated movies.
I got really excited thinking we were finally getting an EGA for Last Wish but being reminded of how good the first film was is equally good. Watched it aaaaages ago and had forgotten most of it, this is making me want to rewatch it.
I personally enjoy it more in the Latin Spanish dub. Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek reprised their roles in both Spanish dubs (Latin America and Spain).
This movie is one of about three movies were my childhood. Since the last wish came out, people will either forget to mention (or ignore), or trash on this one just for the heck of it. To be honest it sucks that the only attention this movie is really getting is negative when it's something that will always be special to me. So, thanks! Thank you so much for shining a positive light on this movie! (edit: I just realized all 3 of the aforementioned movies are DreamWorks movies... I don't know what to do with this information...)
I feel so vindicated that this movie is actually recognized as being really good now, I watched it when it came out as a kid, rented it on directv and that was a hoot and a hollar
I remembered watching this film in cinemas when I was 7, and honestly this video showed me that it holds up, even if it doesn’t hold a candle to last wish.
Has anyone ever noticed how similar this movie is to the first Thor movie? "Brothers" estranged, one is suave and brave and physically skilled, the other is crafty. Betrayal and forgiveness etc. But the ending with Puss holding onto Humpty and Humpty letting go, taking place on a broken bridge (bifrost) is just so so fricken similar to me. No one else seems to notice this.
I noticed it too! Honestly, Puss and Humpty's arc feels like Thor and Loki's entire multi-film arc rolled into one movie. And it's even funnier that this film came out five months after the first Thor came out.
I really love the way Puss and Kitty’s relationship is established in this movie. Sure, the sequel improves upon this, but their interactions with each other are still very cute in this first film! 😻🧡🖤
I can't believe you didn't show the part in the cell where Jack removes his hands from the cuffs then causally slips them back in when he's talking to Puss 😂
I absolutely adored the video that you made here! The ending was hilarious, and please keep this up, because you are amazing! Have an incredible day, and you got yourself a new subscriber :D
For some reason, this was my favourite movie as a kid, I'd watch it in my moms bed, on the old DVD player, and then id watch it again, when it was over. This movie holds a special place in my heart.
This movie was a childhood favourite of mine so I am incredibly nostalgic for it. I still really enjoy the movie now although since rewatching it for a video I made, I have recognised the flaws with this film which hold it back from true greatness. However I still think it’s solid and underrated And I couldn’t be happier that my childhood favourite movie had sequel which is my current favourite
After seeing this film I found myself only able to say "Puss in boots" in the manner Antonio does. Which doesn't happen every day, sure, but more often than one might think.
As a swede i didnt know the english name for puss in boots was acually puss in boots. Because in sweden he is called "mästerkatten" (Master cat) with "katten i stövlar" (puss in boots) being a nickname instead of an acual name.
I don't care however many years it has/will be when this movie came out, this movie will always have a very special place in my heart. Of course The Last Wish is much better, in my oppinion, but this one was also really really good. I rember I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid and never get bored of if one bit. The origin story for Puss was really good, I loved Humpty's character development beacouse yes he betrayed Puss back then I still understand where he was coming from and how he felt left out, and after some time Puss started realizing that too, and the way he proved himself to be a hero at the end and sacrificing himself for the town, I also love Puss and Humpty's relationship development how they started off as brothers, Humpty betrays Puss but after spending some time together again Puss is willing to try and trust Humpty again and give him a second chance andI love how even tho Humpty betrayed Puss for a second time Puss was still willing to give him another chance becouse he somehow still new that Humpty was still good inside and they ended off being brothers at the end again, the love story between Puss and Kitty is honestly really good too, yes it was mostly flirting but also Puss saving Kitty when she fell in the water, Kitty trusting Puss enough to tell him about her story and her saving him at the end really showes how much they actually care for each other, also the details are surprisingly good in this movie. Overall this movie was really really good and I still love it till this day If you decited to read this whole thank you andhope you have a great day
Um, first off, Puss and Humpty didn't end off as brothers again, Humpty fell to his death and nobody cries about him. And in The Last Wish, no one, either Puss, Kitty, or the movie critics mentioned Humpty. They didn't care to talk about him for a bit as they focused on the aspects that stood out to everyone.
I feel like this one is super underrated and overlooked because of how great the second movie was. Don't get me wrong, I love the second movie, but I also love this one. I especially love the dance/fight scene in this film with Puss and Kitty Softpaws. I also love the music is this one a lot more than the second one.

Mr. Wins, it was like you HEARD ME. Let me tell ya, I was literally in the middle of absolutely GEEKING over The Last Wish, I opened YT to check something, and then I see THIS. Good sir, you are a gift.
I saw this one as a kid in theatres and now can't believe how much I forgot about it. This is a great movie, I might even say I like these better than the Shrek movies
This movie got me in trouble with my dad as a kid! Not the movie itself but i didn’t know how Amazon worked and I bought it without knowing it cost money… its still one of my favourite movies and i can say it unfortunately reinforced my taste in Latin women
I really liked the first Puss in Boots movie as a kid when it came out, but now that the sequel is out I wish they'd given more humorous lines and definitely more Spanish lines to Salma Hayek as Kitty Softpaws. She's Mexican and IMHO, we're ("we"= "Mexicans") are pretty dang funny. Especially making Spanish or Spanglish jokes. She got MUCH better lines in the sequel, I think. I liked her pretty well in the first movie for being a strong female lead, but I LOVED her in the second one! I love her back-and-forth and witty, sarcastic and yet loving banter with Antonio Banderas as Puss.
funny enough. the cat that goes "oooooooooooh!' after the kitty reveal and the humpty joke, the "humpty! you're not wearing underwear!" and the "come on in! it feels greeeeeeat!' are running inside jokes between my mom and i! still do it today too!
I wish you pointed out that during the chase, Jack and Jill shoot at them and humpty says “hey that was close!” As if it were him being actually shocked at near death but I believe it was more of him telling Jack and Jill that they literally shot too close and to reel it back a bit.

I forgot this Movie Existed And I didn't think in this universe or any multiverse puss in boots the last wish would be a sequel to this movie
Everything Great About Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole would be a nice one to do.
Been Waiting For this One!
It's finally time! My new favorite movie...is coming soon.
what is it? i cant tell from the last frame
I’ve been waiting for this video for so long. I love this movie
funny enough. the cat that goes "oooooooooooh!' after the kitty reveal and the humpty joke, the "humpty! you're not wearing underwear!" and the "come on in! it feels greeeeeeat!' are running inside jokes between my mom and i! still do it today too!
