I do nearly the same exact process for making something. I have a part idea and just start with a rough design. Then I machine it and figure it out as I go. Great work!
This project reminds me so much of one I am doing or at least gathering parts to do right now!!! Long story short, I'm using a decent quality "Store Brand" 18 Volt cordless drill to power a portable drill press! ... I looked at those "Convert your pistol drill to a drill press" kits .. but they are not so great. SO plan to buy a use smaller bench type drill press, and convert it to cordless with the drill I have.
16:00 This new design is much superior, very good! ... As to the motor eventually going bad?? Think about it :) Milwaukee 12 volt tools are not as popular now .. If you keep your eyes open, I'd bet Credits to Navy Beans, you'll find a replacement spare 12 volt drill long before you need one! :)
@@howardosborne8647That's a very good idea but would probably need purchase instead of using what he already has. I have a couple of old battery drills from pre-Lithium battery days but don't have any windscreen wiper motors so would use an old drill motor.
Kyle, I think you’re giving Abom a run for his money. I love your videos, very well edited. In particular, you’re not wasting time dwelling on long operations. I started down this same route until I came across a machinist selling an old diamond plate lapping machine called a K.K. Calamar. I just showcased it a couple videos ago here: th-cam.com/video/pRL85HAfuVI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IN-oyKK-jApmYBKR
Overkill is underrated, diamond disc holder is first class, great build.
Thanks
Outstanding Concept and job Kyle.
Very well made.
This should serve you well for many years.
Thanks for sharing. 👍
Yeah I hope so

Pretty cool. Lot of work, but a nice outcome.
Thanks greg
This is great! Just started to go down the hand scraping rabbit hole...Morse pattern in particular.
Very nice yeah that’s a skill more scraping videos to come

Great project

Awesome 👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Neat idea
Thank you
I would think it easier to make a worm drive for speed reduction plus torque multiplication?
Yeah probably
Just use a 12 volt windscreen wiper motor with the integral worm drive gearbox and power it via a PWM speed controller

Is it possible to make a decent power scraper from a cheap sawsal?
Yes
13:52 10 X 0.8 = Metric "Extra Fine" threads :( ... Also made in M10 X 0.75 and M10 X 0.5
👍
