still not as WW savvy as you. I basically run around and let the tornado kill the mobs since i have a pretty decent DPS weapons. I ocassionally WW the bejesus out of them when its at least 2 packs and some thrash so i wont worry too much running out of Fury. Question do you spam sprint tornadoes while you WW? or do you spam it separately? ohh and i stop tryin belial by the way i cant WW correctly to the life of me so im stuck farming act 1 loots ( not complainin got a sexy monk boots )
nice video, I'm starting to price out the gear just to give me an idea how much itl'l cost. I think I'm searching for gear that is like "godly status". So realistically I don't need 2- 1h weapons that does 800-900 dps with 700 loh and 50+ crit. I was reading elsewhere, the main hand is just important; so 1h axe with loh and crit that does high dps. Then the dps on the second hand doesn't really matter, just more a stat boost. So I can have a 750dps on the primary and a 500 dps on the secondary?
Look closely, a small amount of red comes keeps coming onto the WotB icon at 0:13 and the rune drops it back down every time he gets 25 fury. Hell, an eighth of the thing is red at 0:50 (when they bubble and he isn't hitting as much). WotB is 15 seconds, so the half a second it takes to generate 25 fury (it's very possibly less than that), will only take up 1/30 of the icon, so of course it stays small when the duration adds a second more than twice a second.
Hey man, just came to say "THANKS". I leveled and geared barb after seeig ur vid, it took me some 30 hours to get 60. I spent 180K on gear + used some pieces from wizzard / stash. I am at 5.5 armor 700 res 900 LoH, 20K dps, Totally destroying ACT 1 inf, moving forward in a speed of light (hurricane?). This build is INCREDIBLE amount of fun. Kudos dude!
There is a rune for Whirlwind that allows you to move your movement speed during WW. It also applies if you are sprinting, which means you pop sprint, WW the same speed!
If you check the buffs bar I use WotB at the start and still have it at the end of the fight. Sprint generate so much fury, the Thrive on Chaos rune on WotB allow you to keep it up for as long as you need.
Yep, I spam Sprint during WW, it's the main fury generator so you have to if you cant WW to keep going (well not "spam" per se, I try to use it just before the previous one ends). Champions packs drop as many rares as bosses now with 5 Nephalem Valor stacks (1.0.3), so not being able to kill Belial isn't really a problem for farming if you can kill packs. It'll be just like if you killed one pack less, no big deal. :)
This gearing guide is for inferno... but yeah I'll make a new version with an higher budget/more dps. Leap/Overpower aren't here for fury generation anyway, but for tanking. If you have low res/armor, you can still tank anything thanks to their great defense buff. If you have good armor/res you can take something else. Try Hurricane on WW, if you Sprint correctly you'll have a lot of tornadoes and end up generating even more fury than with the fury rune.
Too funny! I actually have a 585 DPS weapon with +204 Strength, just like you said. I also have an 800 dps hammer without strength, both socketed with an 80 % crit gem. I am obviously getting more damage from the 585+204, but does Sprint base its 20% on the actual weapn DPS or my total damage? Thanks for answering, your videos are awesome!
have you tried this with 25% ms? i remember reading somewhere that sprint+ rltw procs more nados the quicker you move.. with 25% base + sprint and berserk you could probably squeeze out some more dmg without spending much on gear (there's a few decent items with %ms on them viable for this build)
Same build but I had Leap instead of Overpower. Single targets are fine when they aren't kiting, see last part of the gameplay guide. For Act 2 ignore wasps when they are alone, only attack them when you have melee monsters following you.
For WW/Sprint Is it best to have high DPS on the main hand regardless of stats? Or wouild lower DPS with much higher strength be preferable. Is overall damage still the best stat?
Maybe I can answer that as well. Sprint - Run like the wind. It left behind tornados which deal damage and increase the fury becouse it is count as a weapon damage (criticals).
There's rings yeah, and you can get some crit chance on the helm too. I end up with way more HP than I thought in the gearing guide, so you can probably give up on getting a socket and get crit% instead.
After some getting used to it i switched to your build and its a lot of fun and its how i wanted to play Barbarian since i already played WW Barb in D2 for a long time. Im still failing a lot loosing my fury sometimes but its getting better and except one pack (shielding himself, arcane, freezing, molten:/ ) i could kill everything i came on with better speed then with a Fury build. Ofc its less in the window (i use a blue 950loh, 100%dmg weapon as off)but its more on the MOB, great build!
The reflect rune is amazing : You don't take the damage you reflect, so it's a 30% defense bonus, AND when you reflect damage the LoH trigger and heal you, so it's even more than 30%. It's actually more than 100% on dots (Desecrator, Molten, Plagued,...) so you heal instead of taking damage. xD
Depends on the damage, your current strength, etc ... Crit damage is usually better than strength. If you have trouble surviving you want more LoH, even if you have to lose a bit of damage. As an exemple, if you have 1000 strength, 50% crit chance (buffed) and 200% crit damage, a 700dps weapon will do the same damage as a 585dps weapon with +200 strength or a 560dps weapon with +100% Crit damage.
You gotta spawn a few tornadoes next to the enemies (look what I do the first few seconds) before going in with WW, or you won't have anything healing you at first and risk getting oneshot. Also make sure you use sprint again fast each time it ends (or even before). It's the main healing (and thus tanking) source.
Yeah, WotB is a big help, CC immunity is amazing. It has a rune to extend it's duration, they won't remove it, they might limit to 1 minute at worst, imo. In that case you'd need 3M of gear instead of 1 to be able to kill most pack in under 1 min (or avoid Jailer packs and dodge Frozen explosions with 1.5M).
i changed my tank barb with this spec and after 1h in act 1 dropped a very cool ring ( 87 strenght, 45 res all, 31% crit dmg, 4% crit chance) and now i have 45% crit and 260 % crit dmg unbuffed. This build is so OP ...Thanks so much for your tips :)
What about life on hit? That's the most important thing to worry about, he's got around 1400-1500. If you have lots of that, are you using the same skills as him, keeping tornados up, etc? Are you running out of fury? If yes, what's your critical hit chance? He has 37.5 -- it matters because it generates huge fury with the Battle Rage's rune and reduces the cool on overpower so it can stay active. Watch Dino's other videos.
You only have to generate 25 fury to reduce the cool 1 second, which is very easy to do in less than 1 second, so of course it doesn't move. 3 fury every time you get hit with poison and fire (multiple times a second), 3 fury for every damage reflected from those, 3 fury for each tornado hit (multiple hits to multiple enemies per second), 3 fury for each enemy hit with whirlwind, plus normal fury generation. That's very easily 50 fury per second, and probably much more, with so many mobs.
2-3 mobs or a single big one is enough to generate fury, make sure you have enough crit chance/attack speed. And vs a single enemy, don't use WW until your fury is at 0, always keep enough fury for an additional Sprint.
Good since I first saw you, you got to be my new god, and in fact I have copied my best. My question is, changing overpower jump, because you use the rune reflect damage, and not for example which gives you 10% more critical?, I would like to briefly answer me!!
Hey again DiNo, i have a question now i have an offhand at 1.33 speed and 43.5% crit unbuffed, what do u think a 1.50 attack speed weapon for offhand will be more better for fury regen from tornade cuz i still have problems with fury at 1 or 2 adds the regen is not so good and btd i have 1.62 % attack speed on stats. Thanks in advance
Im using WW rune - gain 1 fury for each hit and no leap or overpower, and I think it's working too. I realized that I always have to be lower than 100 fury, cause it's not counting fury generation than. Thanks DiNo, hope this will pass me through the entire inferno mode, but I would appreciate som gearing guide for inferno mode
Use Wrath of the Berserker, makes you immune. You can keep it up for longer than it's cooldown with the huge fury generation (and Thrive on Chaos). Spand fury when you are at 100% or it won't consider you are generating fury.
Yeah, in the current version only their life get buffed, so it's just make the fights longer (if your allies aren't DPSing as good as you). Actually I farmed Act 3 Inferno "solo" with an "afk" friend in the game sharing his Magic Find for a bit, mostly to test this, and it worked great. :)
Hardest part is really the initial fury generation when using Overpower and not Leap. Maintaining the fury generation/spending, is just a matter of practise. Once mastered, this is by far the most fun barb build =)
You can still generate fury on invulnerable minions so... that's a plus a least! :P You don't get healed though, so you should try to lure a few white mobs in to use as healing targets, and it should be fine (vs most packs I can heal enough just from the boss to tank the whole pack with my regular gear, but I have a lot of LoH)
He's actually using the Thrive on Chaos rune which adds 1 second to the duration of Wrath of the Berserker for every 25 fury gained. He's also using Battle Rage rune called Into the Fray which has a chance to restore 15 fury on crit... and he's critting quite a bit. The guy below said you need some kind of fury sink to make Thrive on Chaos work, and he's correct. Whirlwind is his fury sink. Might want to take a minute and examine things before telling people to grow a brain.
I'm pretty sure he's using Thrive on Chaos on Wrath of the Berserker which extends the timer on WotB 1 second for every 25 Fury generated. He's also using Battle Rage with Into the Fray to have a chance to generate 15 Fury on criticals. Lastly, he's also using Sprint/Run Like the Wind which makes smaller whirlwinds that hit several times as well. All 3 of those skills combined together make WotB last a very, very long time. So before trying to insult people learn how the skills work.
The point is it's supposed to extend it, but it instead resets the timer. It doesn't do what it's supposed to, and just watch the icon to see. Adding a second would change it a bunch
Overpower the ability was nerfed in 1.0.4, it no longer heals you if you have life on hit when youre standing in desecration or acid or such. So to answer the other question, yes the spec still works, but you should trade bash with instigation for overpower.
How do you build Fury when you aren't full already? Just shout..? IE, I have Bash instead of Overpower, which I'm curious if you need Overpower for what you're doing, because I have almost the same stats, if not better, and I get facemelted right there.
If you can afford a weapon with enough dps and still 500-700loh, 2good rings (bull+skull...) and the set combo for amu and pants with nice stats then it could be a viable option. I really thought about it but its hard to find a weapon to match the needs but thats what i meant: not if you dont have gear for like 40m+already.
Well, ranged kiters WITH TELEPORT is a nightmare combination, I'd probably skip it. But a "regular" shaman champion packs is fine most of the time. I'll probably post a video about this.
Dino, could you make a video of fighting an elite group 1 on 1 without any mobs that has teleport? Such as the shamans? They are ranged and teleport and really skinny, move around and don't chase you which means you are fury starved. if you don't have frenzy and instead use leap or overpower, there's no way there's any fury generated at all to finish them. The problem isn't big packs, its the little nimble ones. Treasure goblins are 100% impossible to kill lol
Sprint ignore the offhand's speed too, so it won't change anything. You need to change your mainhand or get more ias on ring/gloves/... 1.62 attack/second is good though, you should be fine, especially with those crit chances! Try using WW later (Sprint a bit at first), and stop using WW if your fury drop too low (vs 1-2 enemies).
I had to kite everything near the waypoint first (would be insane if there was 3 packs and 200 monsters waiting around the WP like that xD) and my fury went up while doing so. Then I teleported to town, started recording and went back to the fields. (To generate fury from 0 : War Cry - Battle Rage - Overpower (if it doesn't crit you'll have to get hit 1-3 times before the next step) - Sprint)
Yeah, with more MS you can spawn at 5 tornadoes (4 most of the time without), and maybe even more if you stack it. I did try to get 2-3 legendaries with MS (and 12% boots) and it was barely enough to spawn 5 reliably though.
Using this build with Frenzy instead of overpower. Makes me build up start fury much easier, and in the end of battles againt single fast moving mobs i can take em down fast too by chasing em down with sprint and finish them of with Frenzy. Hint: use a frenzy +% dmg belt and autoequip when using frenzy and then autoequip whirlwind belt when using ww again. Dont know if its legal but aint worse than ppl changing into magic find gear 1 sec before a boss dies...
I got to 100 fury while kitting them all around the WP, tp to town, start the recording, tp back so my fury was still full. ^^ It does start draining after a few seconds (or if you mean while I'm spinning in the middle, it's just that I generate way more than I use!)
Check Thrive on Chaos rune fool -- it extends WotB 1 second for each 25 fury generated. Not a bug... He's generating lots of fury probably with Superstition (+3 fury per elemental or ranged hit taken), and maybe also with Weapon Master and a mighty weapon (+3 fury per enemy hit) along with Tornado and Overpower+Crushing Advance to reflect damage for 4s (cool reduced 1 sec per critical hit -- which reduces the 15s cool to nothing with so many enemies hit by Whirlwind), all of which generate fury.
I explored the beginning of Rakki's Crossing and the entire Fields of Slaughter to find all those. It's not really efficient, takes a while gathering them all, you're probably better off killing the packs one by one as you encounter them (which is easier at least for melee ones).
Wrath of berserk lasts 15 seconds, and cool down for at least one and a half minute, what do you do in between them .. that took 5 minutes to clear >.>
It's long, but that's the 1 million gold example, aka minimum gear to survive at all. When I play with my gear, I kills packs in less than 30s. And if you mean the playstyle, I disagree, spinning around while destroying everything is incredibly fun. :)
Using Overpower? Should be able to tank it for a few seconds with 800AR. Try using Sprint and crossing the laser fast (in the opposite way the laser goes obviously) when it aproach.
im going to try again with Belial for the reason being that ACT3 farming has a higher % drop rates for ilvl 61-63 than act 1. I really dont care too much for belial anyway so i try to join a public game but end up spending 90k on repairs (made me sing John Mayer-in repair ) It be nice if we get 1 more action bar in there
I cant seems to get through arcane orb. Cant even touch it, my hp would go down like drain. Am I missing anything? HP 48k, AR 800 (after shout), DPS 10k
With 6k dps, a ridiculous budget and against 3 packs, yeah. With my actual gear (~10M) killing a triple pact like that take less than 30s, and a single one is even faster. Or 5-10s if you switch the WotB rune to Slaugther (but the cooldown bother me).
I don't get it, I have more res more dps and about the same HP you have here and I pop all the cds full rage, keeping all the buffs up at all times and end up instantd by grey mobs (a nice bunch of them tho).
I have 1100 res-all, 39k hp, 7.5k armor, 12k dps, 32%crit chance, 320%crit damage, but i have kinda low life on hit, only 180, can i make it thtough inferno with this? it cost me about 2mil
When in Wrath barbs are completely immune to CC (frozen, jailer, vortex, slows, ... :)) and this build generate so much fury I can keep it up for as long as I fight.
look again it doesn't reset,, look around 3:10 it only decreases by 1 second every time,, sometime by 2 seconds, but thats because of massive fury gain. -->not a bug if it would reset, it would go to 15 seconds ( initial remaining time) everytime it '''resets'''
Haha yeah, I got a "+x-y Lightning Damage" bonus on my weapon, that's why. But it's just a visual effect, doesn't do anything special. ^^ For WotB, well, with Thrive on Chaos rune, you "just" have to generate over 25fury/second!
I have 60 barbs in HC and SC and he isn't using that rune (i am well aware of it) In order for that rune to work, you need to have some sort of "fury sink" to make it so you regen fury, if you aren't using any fury it stays the same and the rune LITERALLY does nothing. This guy is using the whirlwind exploit, look closely @ the wrath Icon, it doesn't move. This is an exploit.

"Elective Mode" It's in the Game Options. It allows you to use any combination of skills.
have you tried this with 25% ms? i remember reading somewhere that sprint+ rltw procs more nados the quicker you move.. with 25% base + sprint and berserk you could probably squeeze out some more dmg without spending much on gear (there's a few decent items with %ms on them viable for this build)

There's rings yeah, and you can get some crit chance on the helm too. I end up with way more HP than I thought in the gearing guide, so you can probably give up on getting a socket and get crit% instead.

Good job! Once I have the money I will definitely go this build. Right now... its not working out too well for me, but I already see how its work.

Thrive in Chaos rune increases length of WOTB by 1 sec per 25 fury gained. He gains much more than that per sec so he can keep WOTB up forever.
You use overpower because the reflect damage is 30% mitigation and also the reflects proc LoH. This allows you to stand in plagued , molten, etc
Hardest part is really the initial fury generation when using Overpower and not Leap. Maintaining the fury generation/spending, is just a matter of practise. Once mastered, this is by far the most fun barb build =)

can u make a video of what skills are u using to do the tornado forever? and please tell us the skill order :)
He's actually using the Thrive on Chaos rune which adds 1 second to the duration of Wrath of the Berserker for every 25 fury gained. He's also using Battle Rage rune called Into the Fray which has a chance to restore 15 fury on crit... and he's critting quite a bit.

So ahm, these lightnings that falls is because of you? if yes, how? also, how in the burning hells you can make wrath of the berserker lasts forever?
My stats are almost exactly the same, just a little less health and like 70 less loh, and I am randomly getting 1 shot. What is wrong? Nice guide btw
hey for Act 1 and 2 what build did you use and how did you kill single targets there annyoing
Turn on Elective Mode (and Advanced Tooltips) in Gameplay Options and you can even use 4 shouts if you want. ^^
Use Sprint to avoid most of the mosquitos shots, I think they hit harder than Act 3 mobs if you tank all 4 (because they are "easy" to avoid)
One easy way in to run in a straight line. Or a big circle. I'll have a guide up in a few days.
@Dino, may I know do you kill goblins with this build?
I got to 100 fury while kitting them all around the WP, tp to town, start the recording, tp back so my fury was still full. ^^
It does start draining after a few seconds (or if you mean while I'm spinning in the middle, it's just that I generate way more than I use!)
Auto equip is possible with a macro program like autohotkey. People already use it for magic gear swap.
Yeah, recorded this on the 27th, 1.0.3 was out already. ^^
Do this work in public games where the mobs get abit of a buff per player who is in it?.
It's the hypnotic circular movement imo. xD
is this going to get nerfed? blizz will be a massive kill joy if they do
i think one of the runes allows you to prolong it based on each enemy killed
I explored the beginning of Rakki's Crossing and the entire Fields of Slaughter to find all those.
It's not really efficient, takes a while gathering them all, you're probably better off killing the packs one by one as you encounter them (which is easier at least for melee ones).
Wrath of berserk lasts 15 seconds, and cool down for at least one and a half minute, what do you do in between them .. that took 5 minutes to clear >.>
hey dino. I'm not sure how you spawn a few tornadoes. Could you teach me how?
It's long, but that's the 1 million gold example, aka minimum gear to survive at all. When I play with my gear, I kills packs in less than 30s.
And if you mean the playstyle, I disagree, spinning around while destroying everything is incredibly fun. :)
How do you move around, i mean if you click left button u gonna end up ww instead of normal move forward. .
Working on a gameplay guide now :)
Using Overpower? Should be able to tank it for a few seconds with 800AR. Try using Sprint and crossing the laser fast (in the opposite way the laser goes obviously) when it aproach.
That's the strict minimum gear (for 800k), I only got defense stats on almost every piece. If you have a 2M budget you'll do way more damage. :)
go in the options--> gameplay--> check elective mode. you will see
the diffrence between act 2 and act 3 is incredible, i can take on like 5 champ / elite packs in act 2 but i get smashed in act 3 by white mobs..
I read a few threads, watched the Krip video and I still don't know how this build works. Tried it, but just failed at it.
I cant find any documentation on the skills. Any idea where I could find this info?
Yeah, but you might not have enough DPS to beat the bosses before their enrage timer, if you have the same DPS.
im going to try again with Belial for the reason being that ACT3 farming has a higher % drop rates for ilvl 61-63 than act 1.
Watch the end of the gameplay guide, I kill 3 different solo elite (without minions), including a kiting one (bloodclan shaman or something).
I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong but i can't seem to keep my fury up. i'm also getting VERY LITTLE fury when i take dmg?
This looks SO fun to play. I definitely have to try it out. And watch your other videos. And subscribe.
wrong, the offhand dps is just as important. the thing is you need same attack speed on both weapons for it to work properly.
With 6k dps, a ridiculous budget and against 3 packs, yeah.
With my actual gear (~10M) killing a triple pact like that take less than 30s, and a single one is even faster. Or 5-10s if you switch the WotB rune to Slaugther (but the cooldown bother me).
It's at the end of the video.
37.5% crit chance, +271% crit damage, 497 res, 4.6k armor (with enchantress), 43k HP, 1.4k LoH
How do you start will full fury and it doesnt seems like its not draining?
okay... how did you start off with max fury?
This guy is very skilled player!
how do u deal with jailer champions packs? i get jailed, stop moving, and die!
20 seconds in inferno act 3, with a wiz...love to see it
look again it doesn't reset,, look around 3:10 it only decreases by 1 second every time,, sometime by 2 seconds, but thats because of massive fury gain. -->not a bug
if it would reset, it would go to 15 seconds ( initial remaining time) everytime it '''resets'''
don't know about barbs but how is it that u dont get frozen?
Haha yeah, I got a "+x-y Lightning Damage" bonus on my weapon, that's why. But it's just a visual effect, doesn't do anything special. ^^
For WotB, well, with Thrive on Chaos rune, you "just" have to generate over 25fury/second!
and how many times u died to kite them there ?
I have 60 barbs in HC and SC and he isn't using that rune (i am well aware of it)
In order for that rune to work, you need to have some sort of "fury sink" to make it so you regen fury, if you aren't using any fury it stays the same and the rune LITERALLY does nothing.
This guy is using the whirlwind exploit, look closely @ the wrath Icon, it doesn't move.
This is an exploit.
One cuestion ... this works in patch 1.0.3???
