I am currently using this build to farm Act 3 now. Thanks for posting this up, this build is awesome. For farming Act 3, I generally check the Korsik Bridge for any melee elite packs, then go into the Icefall Caverns or Caverns of Frost for more packs and the resplendent chest at the end. If I'm still not at 5 NV stacks, I check Keeps 3 (because it has more melee), then Keeps 1. I tend to skip ranged packs and anything with Shielding or Invuln Minions.
This has been working great for me. Thank you! I thought I was going to quit when I realized how badly my Attack Speed Build was raped. Thanks Again. I can't wait for your video going into detail about the build along with what items would benefit it the most.
Dear Dino2909, THANK YOU... i was struggling in act 3 and wasn't looking forward to farming act one and 2 but after spending a small amount of gold compared to what it would take to sword and board it I am easily taking down all act 3 and 4 bosses, and only have trouble with elite packs with shielding or ones that run away constantly which drains my fury trying to chase and put tornado's in there path or where i think they will be. Very happy for amount spent and being able to farm anywhere.
Thanks Dino!! loving this so far...had a couple questions though... I haven't got Any AS gear yet because of the incoming nerf which'll hopefully lead to lower prices for it, but how necessary do u feel it is to have? (both weps at 1.2 speed) And how much of a difference does getting your weapon up to roughly 2 APS help, especially with solo'ing Diablo and say Rakinoth? One more question, kind of stupid but...what key do u have bound for click to move?
Hey Dino and viewers. I followed this build and cleared Act III and did five stack siegebreaker runs before inferno nerf, and downed Diablo and finished Act IV after (I didn't get a chance to try before). Thanks again!
Thanks for your advices ! Now i just have to find two good one hand with life on hit and try to learn how to play the build :D. I wish you best for your video in the future
hi Dino. your build is good. I have to get used to "get the fury" issue, but it seems ok to deliberately kill some mobs right before you encounter an elite. There is only one type of power i feel trouble, that's Immune. How to you deal with that? usually it leaves only the elite itself LifeOnHitable. Moreover, I am using "supersition" instead of "ruthless". because i have some gear which give me 41%CC now. What do you think?
Superstition is great. :) For Invulnerable minions, as you said you can only heal on the boss, but you still generate fury on the invulnerable ones. Most of the time I just spin in the middle as usual, making sure I hit the boss with a least 3 tornadoes, and I (barely) manage to tank them with my armor. VS heavy hitters, I can't though, so I run around until as find a few white mobs and use them as healing targets, then go fetch some more if they die too fast, with the elites following me.
AS is pretty important, mainly on the mainhand (turns out Sprint ignore offhand's speed/damage). The faster you hit, the more often LoH heal you, so it's a big boost. I have "only" 1.7 on my mainhand though, and it was enough. Well, going from say 1.4 to 2 APS, you should heal about 40% more, which help survivability a lot. I bound A to move (with AZERTY keyboard), but Spacebar is nice too.
grats man, i rolled a barb and just hit 60 with him, grabbed up about 500k -800k worth of gear and laughed at act 1 with this spec. Glad to see its viable all the way to diablo. Also quick question, is there a certain distance you have to run before pooping out tornados, sometimes i hit sprint and they dont always show up. This only happens in the beginning of the rotation though. I hit leap (hiting enemies is critical with this), shout, then battle rage and sprint.
congratulations on being creative and coming up with a build that outdoes everybody else exponentially when you consider the gear required. You deserve some kind of blizzard prize. Probably couldn't survive A1 inferno with those stats with a tank or dps build
it takes some practice to get use to the build, but once u get it its probably one of the cheapest and most fun to play build, thanks so much Dino!!i completed inferno with this!:) question: do you think crit dmg or high dps is more impt?
Yeah, Leap is better to get started again when you run out of fury, so if that's the problem it might help (avoid the fire pools though, they are insanely strong without OP). Or try stopping WW everytime your fury drop below 50, then get it back to 100 with Sprint only before starting to spin again. Will be longer but you probably have plenty of spare time before the enrage timer kicks in, with 20k dps.
Which boss? Armor/resist are good, Crit chance/damage too, you wanna raise your Strength (and crit damage a bit) if you need DPS, or attack speed/LoH if you still need more survivability.
Run in a "big" circle around the monsters (same size as me vs diablo or the clone). Once the tornadoes are here, start using WW and continue spinning in the same big circle, and keep using Sprint every 3 seconds too. It's a bit hard on a solo enemies but 2 should be easy already once you got it right. Doesn't work vs ranged mobs who run away though, you want to lure them into a bigger pack of monsters if there's only 1-2.
He is using the last rune that increases the duration by 1 second for every 25 rage generated. Check the link for his build in the description, you will see how all the skins work together
Yeah, I think you have to be a certain distance away from your starting point (and moving) after a second for the tornadoes to spawn. That why I'm spinning around Diablo and the clone in such a big circle (but it still hit the small clone in the middle :))
Act3 Inferno or Hell? I just got to Inferno with my Barb and I barely have 30k and I'm finding my gold making abilities sorely cramped by the prohibitive repair costs from constantly dying! By the way, great video here and great guide(s) at battle.net. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, Battle Fury (Into the Fray rune) has to be up, it makes critical hit generate fury, and Sprint's tornadoes crit a lot (you need 35%+ crit chance though).
Do you think you could post your strength, vitality etc. as well? Just want to see where they are at to get that type of damage and hp. This build looks like a lot of fun, I'm currently using cookie cutter sword/board revenge build with 10k armour and 800 ar and I am finding it boring and still kinda tough versing certain mobs, would be cool to change things up.
IAS is great for the build, probably better to get IAS gloves, even if you have to give up some crit chance/damage. Attacking faster means you heal faster and tank better, thanks to the LoH.
First of all sorry for my bad English, i'm not very fluent and I hope you will understand my question :). I just want to know if your build work in a party? And if not, what do you change in your build when you play with friends? thanks for your vids who make me happy to see that you don't need to farm tons of gold for having fun in inferno on barbarian ;)
hey Dino many thanks for you past advices, i switched off unforgiving for nervs of steel and did easly act 3 and 4, i farmed a couple of time izual with 5 stack too... now i m on diablo, and i ve some problems, my dps is a bit lower than yours 20,5k, LOH is at 1820, and attack speed is 17,4,crit 46%, crit bonus 220%, life is 50k, ress 500-700, armor 6,4k... i m using overpower but i have some problems with rage, do you suggest to switch to leap ?
Check the gearing guide, and add a bit of Strength to pieces when you can, try getting to about 10k dps (see the guide for the other stats). You'll need about 2 millions. PS : You could tank all of inferno with the gear in the guide (1 million) but you probably wouldn't be able to kill most fixed bosses before their enrage timer.
Yeah, worked fine on Halls of Agony. VS jailers, don't forget to use Wrath of the Berserker and try to keep it up, it makes you immune. VS shielding, try to back up as fast as you can when their shields are up since you stop healing. VS waller, use WW to "run" through mobs and get out of the deadend easily.
Yeah it hits for less damage, but way more often with 2 1h. So Life per Hit heals more often, and it's also higher (have it on both weapon) => way more healing overall => easier to tank. WW and tornadoes are affected by attack speed.
You completed Inferno too, nice! :) Well, Crit DMG is here for the DPS. Say you have 40% crit. If you take a weapon with +100% crit damage, it's like the weapon have +40% to it's dps (since it's a global/pure boost, it's applied after strength, etc ... like the weapon DPS) So if a weapon has 600dps and +100% crit damage, with 40% crit chance, it's as good as a 840dps weapon without crit damage.
That's the problem, if you aren't spawning a lot of tornadoes and using WW, you won't heal, so you can't tank anything. A 3s Sprint should always yield at least 4 tornadoes (if you aren't slowed, etc...). If no tornadoes spawn, it probably means you are running in a too small area. If you're running in circles, try making the circle bigger. It's not really hard, even running around randomly will usually spawn 4 tornadoes, as long as you aren't staying in a very small area.
When it's melee, it's easy to generate enough fury, even to WW all the time, if you run in a circle of the right size around it. Vs ranged, it's a bit harder but I usually manage to do it too when they stop moving, and keep WotB up. Vs those who run away all the time,it's very tough. Usually by the time there's only one left, it usually have around 30% HP. I just run after it,don't use WW if I'm under 70% fury, take it slowly and hope I can do 30% before WotB run out (vs jailer). High DPS helps.
If you have enough defense gear, you can stay in close quarters with the mobs all the time (while you spin around them and spawn tornadoes), so you should keep the aggro and be able to tank, maybe even better than with a traditional tanking build. :) MAYBE get a fury generator so you don't have to run away in case you end up at 0 fury and cooldowns not ready somehow.
Thanks man! So LoH and crits with as much all resists and strength as possible is what we want here right? Man your build is so good that Kripp is using it now. LOL
Up to now i had some problems farming... but this improves it so good... the tactic worked all you gotta have is hie life on hit found some with 600 dps 590 loh and the price was 10 000-30 000 gold ofc i do less dps atm because i got no money to buy better gear but this seam to work... now i only need a good amulet with hie loh
Another question, do you think it's also a must have to get gloves with 12%+ IAS or is crit DMG + crit change fine too? I have 1 ring with IAS already but you seem to have 2 items with Attack speed :)
Crit Damage is better than Strength damage wise (though 250 is a lot), but damage isn't everything, you'll tank better with 100 vit (and 250armor from strength) so depends if you need more tanking or more damage. Pretty sure Crit Damage will almost always give more total damage.
For now yeah, but if you get up to 25k dps unbuffed (or 20k if you have a low dps offhand), I'm pretty sure you can kill them. Could get them down to about 20% life with 19k. (got 23 now but didn't see a goblin since then) (You gotta get a few monsters running after you before engaging the goblin, the tornadoes will generate fury hitting them when they run after you while you run after the goblin :P)
Well, all the fury come from Sprint (thanks to battle rage) so it's pretty important to spawn the tornadoes correctly. You gotta run in a large enough area and not use WW from the start. Yeah for the order of importance, I guess. :P
Yeah, it's combined, main reason why dual wield is so good with this build :). I also have 600 (and 7% crit chance) on the amulet, but those are worth a fortune nowaday, got one early when nobody wanted it yet. ^^
Yeah, Izual was a pain. Kitted him by running around one of the hole in the ground, and only going in with Leap bonus on (he can't charge over the holes)
Jay Wilson style- "We stop at very hard difficulty and then we doubled it." Guide for melee how to deal with it- "Find yourself a glitch and then double it."
Bosses is the "weakness" of this build actually, it's more effective again packs (they are harder too though). Check the Siegebreaker video, I farm Act 3 packs.
Dear Dino, I tried your build our with 40% Crit chance total (unbuffed) but my Fury is depleted most of the time. What have I done wrong. Is Sprint critical to the build? I don't see many tornadoes generated (it's hard to tell in Act IV on white background). If I'm not mistaken the order of importance is: WarCry--->BattleRage-->Sprint-->Wrath of the Berserker-->Whirlwind and Leap, isn't it?
This build still work the same? I can't keep my WoTB up that long. Seems like in this video it was up so long it was off cooldown LAWLS thats amazing. I don't use the sprint but I use something very close. Nice video tho mate!
jailer does nothing if you're careful to not let berserk fall off, and shielding makes the kill take longer but it doesn't affect your ability to kill the pack, loh still works while they are immune, and waller will only kill you if you back yourself into a corner, you're probably dying because the mobs hit so hard in the halls which is the bane of this build
I actually don't like double tornado. I prefer to use the Hurricane rune on Whirlwind as it lets more tornados spawn from Run Like the Wind. Pretty sure it does more damage that way.
tank/spank. took me a few tries but when you get a real rhythm he drops. try using hurricane rune instead of blood on ww if you aren't already, i switched at siegebreaker and it made all the difference
Didn't play Act 4 for a while, not sure. Oppressors/subjugators seemed to suddenly do insane damage for an attack and oneshot me sometimes, but I started using WotB everytime I saw one and it mostly stopped, maybe it has something to do with their charge.
Well, tornadoes not coming out is probably the reason you aren't getting enough fury. :P It's a bit hard to get used too, but there's some ways you can't run if you want the tornadoes to spawn. If you run in circle, the circle needs to be big enough. If you zig zag, there's some sharp turns you musn't do. Etc...
this is sorta working for me, if you kinda close kite him and keep going back to him he doesn't charge... but after about 30 tries i still haven't been able to quite down him. love the build tho, im having a ton of fun and success with it.
dino bro firstly a big respect to you, secondly, DO U EXPERIENCE GAME CRASHING with this build?! I got DCed like 5 times in game and its so frustrating....
Leap reduce damage taken by about 60% (vs 20 for shout) but shout is on all the time... Shout is probably better once you have good armor, yeah, but keep Leap when things can still oneshot you. ^^
I have a pretty hard time gaining fury so I'm using cleave instead of whirlwind. Do you have any tips on how I can get fury enough for small groups of monsters. (I did read the description but I don't understand what you are doing)
tht is true, but i was thinking in terms of the weapon avaliability and prices in AH, finding a decent one that has crit % plus loh 700plus plus vit is really hard, then there are those weapons with 700plus loh, high stats, lets say 100 vit and 250 str. So assuming both weapons have the same dps, and comparable prices, do you think the str boost will be able to compensate for the lack of crit %?
the last rune of it, everytime u got 25 rage it will staying up the remaining time, and use some skill to use ur rage or after u max rage it wont work anymore, thats why he can keep it all the time
You're probably running around in a too small zone. You need to be a certain (short though) distance away from the previous tornado, and moving, after ~0.5s for the next one to spawn. Bit hard to get used too.
Nah, LoH heals you more often with the added attack speed from Dual Wielding, AND for an higher amount (if you get some LoH on both weapons you can get a lot more than on one 2H). You'd need much higher Armor and Resistances for it to work.
When your fury is full, WotB stop extending, that's probably the problem. When I'm at 100% fury I spam Battle Rage (and Sprint a bit too) so my fury isn't at 100% and WotB duration continue to increase.
That's pretty low, I have 1.8 with my mace (mainhand) and 2.17 with my dagger (offhand). You can take anything as an offhand btw, Weapons Master only look at your main hand to decide which bonus you get. Get a mace mainhand if you can (faster than axes?) and a cheap attack speed ring, maybe some attack speed gloves too.
I was going to stop playing D3 until i came across this build, i had 60K hp, 1000 all res, 1500 loh, and i was getting 3 shotted by guys in A3 inferno. I bought a second (crappy) loh wep and cheap crit gear and got through A3 inferno without dying, 5 stack azmo. blizz should thank dino for me :-D sidenote: this build will cost you approximately 500,000 gold in repair bills to figure out how to use correctly
Dino you legend I defeated diablo inferno last night with your build. I have 5k less health so it did take like 40 attempts lol but its all worth it. gonna try that new overpower skill on act 3 now :D it does work well for Ghom the Larder heh.
Something is seriously wrong, you shouldn't even feel any act1 monster hitting you with those stat, if you are using Sprint. Can you spawn tornadoes succesfully, and use WW too?
Movement speed is ignored I think ... except with the speed rune, but I like Blood Funnel better. Attack speed is great, more hits = more healing = more tanking.
I am currently using this build to farm Act 3 now. Thanks for posting this up, this build is awesome.

Came from General Forum to say thanks for your GOD LIKE Build! This will be my poor ACT1 Barb's greatest help! :D

Its the Beserker Thrive on Chaos Rune, that keeps it active for every 25 fury you get/generate.
it takes some practice to get use to the build, but once u get it its probably one of the cheapest and most fun to play build, thanks so much Dino!!i completed inferno with this!:)
question: do you think crit dmg or high dps is more impt?
Hello, I see you have movement speed on your boots as well. Is this a must have, or is it just an extra bonus you managed to get?
Yeah, Leap is better to get started again when you run out of fury, so if that's the problem it might help (avoid the fire pools though, they are insanely strong without OP).
Or try stopping WW everytime your fury drop below 50, then get it back to 100 with Sprint only before starting to spin again. Will be longer but you probably have plenty of spare time before the enrage timer kicks in, with 20k dps.
Yes you do, make sure battle rage + into the fray in on and you crit enough
Which boss?
Armor/resist are good, Crit chance/damage too, you wanna raise your Strength (and crit damage a bit) if you need DPS, or attack speed/LoH if you still need more survivability.
Someone finally proved my build! Thanks man!
Run in a "big" circle around the monsters (same size as me vs diablo or the clone).

It's a bit hard on a solo enemies but 2 should be easy already once you got it right. Doesn't work vs ranged mobs who run away though, you want to lure them into a bigger pack of monsters if there's only 1-2.

Yeah, I think you have to be a certain distance away from your starting point (and moving) after a second for the tornadoes to spawn. That why I'm spinning around Diablo and the clone in such a big circle (but it still hit the small clone in the middle :))
MY guess is the two handers gives more critical hits, which this build depends on to gain fury and heal. Check his build in video description
Act3 Inferno or Hell? I just got to Inferno with my Barb and I barely have 30k and I'm finding my gold making abilities sorely cramped by the prohibitive repair costs from constantly dying!

thanks for your vids who make me happy to see that you don't need to farm tons of gold for having fun in inferno on barbarian ;)

You completed Inferno too, nice! :)
Well, Crit DMG is here for the DPS.
Say you have 40% crit. If you take a weapon with +100% crit damage, it's like the weapon have +40% to it's dps (since it's a global/pure boost, it's applied after strength, etc ... like the weapon DPS)
So if a weapon has 600dps and +100% crit damage, with 40% crit chance, it's as good as a 840dps weapon without crit damage.
That's the problem, if you aren't spawning a lot of tornadoes and using WW, you won't heal, so you can't tank anything.

It's not really hard, even running around randomly will usually spawn 4 tornadoes, as long as you aren't staying in a very small area.
Click where there's no enemy, or use the Move key (you can set one in the options)
MAYBE get a fury generator so you don't have to run away in case you end up at 0 fury and cooldowns not ready somehow.
He has pretty damn insane life-on-hit per sec due to whirlwind and tornadoes. Every hit is healed almost instantly.
Haha, thanks for that, missed it while looking at the image of his items.
(got 23 now but didn't see a goblin since then)
(You gotta get a few monsters running after you before engaging the goblin, the tornadoes will generate fury hitting them when they run after you while you run after the goblin :P)
Well, all the fury come from Sprint (thanks to battle rage) so it's pretty important to spawn the tornadoes correctly. You gotta run in a large enough area and not use WW from the start.
Yeah for the order of importance, I guess. :P
Overpower : The fire pools (his most dangerous skill imo) become healing pools, very handy. :D
You should have tried on Diablo, it turns his most dangerous spell imo (the fire pools) into healing pools, helps a lot. :D
his wrath of the berserker never ends!
Jay Wilson style- "We stop at very hard difficulty and then we doubled it."
Guide for melee how to deal with it- "Find yourself a glitch and then double it."
Actually, I tested it out since then and turns out it's a must have! That or Hurricane rune on WW.
You can see all my stats at 8:54. 983 STR and 1095 VIT. 18k damage (28k buffed)
Thanks I switched ruthless rune to relentless for the fight and managed to tank enough damage to finally kill him.
Yeah I'll make a video. Wrath of the Berserker cancel Jailer, Frozen, Knockback and Vortex though, so those ones will be easy. ^^
Sprint's tornadoes + Batte Rage's rune Into the Fray.
I actually don't like double tornado. I prefer to use the Hurricane rune on Whirlwind as it lets more tornados spawn from Run Like the Wind. Pretty sure it does more damage that way.
@parafin68 sprint is mandatory..also he generates rage only thnx to the rune from battle rage the one that gives 15 fury for every crit hit...
tank/spank. took me a few tries but when you get a real rhythm he drops. try using hurricane rune instead of blood on ww if you aren't already, i switched at siegebreaker and it made all the difference
It's a bit hard to get used too, but there's some ways you can't run if you want the tornadoes to spawn. If you run in circle, the circle needs to be big enough. If you zig zag, there's some sharp turns you musn't do. Etc...
Yeah, does a bit more damage but those tornadoes only use like 1% of the LoH stat, so you heal way less, harder to tank.
this is sorta working for me, if you kinda close kite him and keep going back to him he doesn't charge... but after about 30 tries i still haven't been able to quite down him. love the build tho, im having a ton of fun and success with it.
dino bro firstly a big respect to you, secondly, DO U EXPERIENCE GAME CRASHING with this build?!
(I did read the description but I don't understand what you are doing)
tht is true, but i was thinking in terms of the weapon avaliability and prices in AH,
finding a decent one that has crit % plus loh 700plus plus vit is really hard, then there are those weapons with 700plus loh, high stats, lets say 100 vit and 250 str.
So assuming both weapons have the same dps, and comparable prices, do you think the str boost will be able to compensate for the lack of crit %?
Yeah, works great on the latest patch, even better than it did then.
the last rune of it, everytime u got 25 rage it will staying up the remaining time, and use some skill to use ur rage or after u max rage it wont work anymore, thats why he can keep it all the time
You're probably running around in a too small zone. You need to be a certain (short though) distance away from the previous tornado, and moving, after ~0.5s for the next one to spawn. Bit hard to get used too.
Apparently skill calculator links changed, so the build in the description was wrong (since when?).
Updated
Nah, LoH heals you more often with the added attack speed from Dual Wielding, AND for an higher amount (if you get some LoH on both weapons you can get a lot more than on one 2H). You'd need much higher Armor and Resistances for it to work.
Got some videos where I do that in Act 3, even a full run. Few packs on Secret Level too, which is harder than Act 4.
No need to run away from monsters at all since 1.0.3, especially after switching Leap for Overpower, watch the newer videos. :)
I use Hurricane too now. ^^
What's wrong in group? I play in duo without problem, didn't try 4p though.
did u check the end of the video? his full stats are there at the end unless you're looking for something else.
the build is pretty hard to play if u never played whirlewind before but it´s pretty effectiv! :D
When your fury is full, WotB stop extending, that's probably the problem. When I'm at 100% fury I spam Battle Rage (and Sprint a bit too) so my fury isn't at 100% and WotB duration continue to increase.
On the forums ppl are telling me it works even better now. :O
I'm in EU so 1.0.3 isn't out yet, can't tell
it's in the description
Tornadoes from Sprint + Barbarian kinda becoming a tornado when he spins too... xD
Well sometimes a single tornado doesn't spawn for the duration of sprint (3s), and I often find I have little to no rage to use on whirlwind.
How about Treasure Goblins? I dont think this will work on them right? So do you just leave them?
Attack speed is great, more hits = more healing = more tanking.
is it more efficient to farm elite mobs or act bosses if youre looking to maximize gold/item gain?
I noticed you used two 1 handers, would a 2 hander also be good?
With Attack speed being reduced in 1.0.3 does this have an effect on your build at all?
well done Dino! :) Congrats!
How you get 1922 per hit ? Do u have life per hit in each sword ? Does it get combined when you dual wield ??
Would you mind if I start a new Barbarian and name him Dino in honor of your incredible build? (I'm having a lv60 female barb right now). :))
how do you keep izzy from doing his charge attack?
seems to do it even in close range and it 1 shots me...
