Charity was not about solving a problem for good but to make a specific person live better and to show God's mercy, to be agents of goodness. Now people are so disconnected that think that every major problem in human history has a money solution
These days charity is a business that doesn't make anyone else feel better, it's about the person donating feeling better. If charity actually solved any problems it would be out of business.
Well thats the thing. They don't want these issues to be solved. they want to milk them as long as possible so they can get as much profit as possible. Thats why they get angry when someone actually tries to fix the issue, instead of being controlled opposition

@SuperFranzs, no, he probably means the kid, but since assuming someone gender based on information is heresy nowadays, we've decided to butcher the use of the pronoun they to fit the new and approved internet etiquette online.
@@SoftKernel It has been a neutral singular pronoun for centuries. @SoftKernel Just because the singular 'they' works in some contexts doesn't make it a 1:1 replacement for all singular pronouns. That Shakespeare used it means nothing when you consider he was writing with artistic flourish and not in a purely technical manner. The singular 'they' is not useful because it commonly leads to ambiguity and confusion, like has literally happened in the comment above yours (though I believe the original comment is using 'they' to refer to child + mother in this scenario, not a singular for the kid).

@dannysummers4591 I think it says more on how the right and left have evolved. MSG2 is effectively made with a 90s idea of politics. A Gen X and Xillennial leftwing idea if it. However, the Zillennials and Zoomer idea of the right and left are inverts the games politics.
@@Seeyou45 To be fair, it was created by Japanese people, whose political system is quite different from America’s divisive two-party system. Personally, I think it’s less about deep political commentary and more about Kojima’s love for old-school action movies. The themes of information control and shadowy governments are fairly common in spy thrillers. I agree that political perceptions in the West have shifted. Over time, the left has become more aligned with the establishment, often labeling any skepticism of the government as "extremist." Meanwhile, the right has grown increasingly jaded, feeling betrayed by previous neoconservative administrations and disillusioned by the left’s perceived compromises after gaining positions of power.
@@Seeyou45 my comment was removed so I'll try and simplify it. Metal Gear is a Japanese franchise, and their country is more united on politics compared to how polarized america is. I personally don't think MGS2 is that deep, I think it was more Kojima's homage to old school action films, and a lot of the themes touched upon it are very common in spy thrillers or science fiction dystopias. That being said, I agree that perceptions have changed. The left are now pro establishment while viewing any skepticism of it as "extremist", while the right has become more cynical and willing to challenge the status quo.
It was really funny how blue check marks were previously only really given out to people who had an "in" inside the company and how elon took those egos down by making it a fee rather than something you only got if the company liked you
They were given to people (and indeed, organisations) who had profiles off of Twitter and so might be impersonated on Twitter. I never understood the weird checkmark envy. I really don't understand paying for one.
@Hoop-aloop That's what it was designed for, but then Twitter started handing them out to arbitrary minor journalists with little to no public profile. These minor journalists then started to treat the checkmark as a sign of "making it", thus it became a status symbol. There's also a small but genuine amount of authority that came with it, e.g. "This poster has a checkmark, they're important enough that Twitter is protecting them from impersonation, their post must be higher value than other people's"
@dean_l33 It stopped being as cool when PewDiePie left. Suddenly everybody "hated" Twitter. (Many didn't, they just followed what they thought was the common opinion.)
You're telling me the CEO of several successful companies wasn't an incompetent moron who would trip over the power cord causing Twitter to permanently shut down?!
Facebook is still alive and very big. You're just not seeing it because you're not there. Just because you don't observe it does not mean it's not very real. Think of how many countries out there you have never been to that have people living their entire lives without knowing, really, how the USA or Europe or China are doing, or how Uruguay, Chad, or Mongolia are doing. Facebook is still a multi-billion dollar asset to a (very nearly if nothing else) trillion dollar company.
Facebook's a dated format. Twitter's 'replacements' are all just... Twitter, cause there's not really anything simpler or any way to rework the format. Twitter can't be killed off by a better service.
I remember when Elon bought Twitter, and a bunch of people went on and spammed the N-word as much as possible. Definitely not me though, I certainly didn't make a Twitter account just to join in on it. I would never even think about doing such a thing.
He raises a good point that its ironic for musks offspring to be telling others to touch grass while on the twitter all day long, like most of these online leftys do.
The value of twitter has never been about it's ability to turn a profit. Twitter has always been the hub of public communication, control the platform, control the direction of political discussion. Before elon bought twitter, the right leaning conversation was heavily censored and now it isnt. Upholding a platform where speech is as free as can be is worth operating at a loss because that's Musk's interests.
@@talesofgore9424 i remember seeing memes about "Elon lost billions of dollars now all he has is all 3 branches of the government" i mean, it's worth it
I’m not the biggest fan of Musk myself, but I hate how his detractors use the most disprovable criticisms when in reality there’s a lot more reasonable stuff to call out (namely how his lithium mines for Tesla do more harm for the environment than Teslas help with aiding)
That depends on how you look at "the enviroment". Tesla helps with the global enviroment by lowering CO2 emissions but destructive to the local enviroments of whatever 3rd world country the mines are in.

@Marssonde1 well. Then you certainly might want to go to Bluesky because they're moving to there. Personally I did manage to build a bigger audience on Twitter than on any other platform. Not even here or on Pixiv did I get better results. Threads and Bluesky just feel like not worth the effort.

It's their own kamikaze tactic. They have no fear of repurcussions because they believe they are "on the right side of history" and delude themselves into thinking the powers that be will be on their side.
@Chadhogan111 Sometimes people get blinded by short term political wins. Sometimes it is ideological fixation on stopping a certain group, and not thinking about how the consequences would affect everything and everyone else. On the right wing, it's people who have a hard on for the german dictator from WWII and the (((undesirables))) controlling everything. On the left wing, it is people wanting to ban anything that goes against the liberal standard of morality at the time.
'Rights' are a spook. You have no actual rights. if they want you gone, you'll be gone. If you're lucky, someone will notice and point it out at least (e.g., Ruby Ridge)
Back when I had a Tumblr (cringe) the site was horribly managed, and even that didn't kill it. Glad I left. Best decision I made for my mental health and actually made me have more nuanced worldviews
Honestly for a while i was against musk twitter because my feed was so filled up with political rage bait which i always ignore and even use "not interested" button but i have to say, when i went to settings there were much more customization with what you want on it than i remember. Twitter after musk had some major problems like more bots or checkmarks but honestly it never was worse than before he arrived, people forget twitter was always shit.
@ktrn6713 Musk right wing = Musk bad. That explains 90% of the hate. People choose to forget a lot of things when it helps get them what they want. The corporations and politicians want Musk compliant to manipulating the information on Twitter to benefit them. The average user wants to make the twitter posts they disagree with to go away again. "Musk ruined Twitter" is just a facade to make Twitter more censored again while not having to debate their motivations behind wanting the censorship.
Twitter has always been "alive" in the same sense that a patch of mold growing inside a pack of expired hotdog buns is alive. Now the mold is just a different color.
The “I’m smarter than Musk” turbo-cope really grinds my gears tbh. Every Redditor apparently thinks they could be worth nearly a half trillion USD if only they were dumber and had less scruples
One of the funniest things involving this whole thing is that CNN, the left's FOX News, being the ones to come out with data showing that Twitter is the most politically equal platform right now. They're not mad because they're being censored, they're mad that others aren't being censored.
Back in Ye Olde Days (when Kanye made music) Stephen Fry was instrumental in the popularity of Twitter. Back then the site wasn’t seen as anything useful that blogging couldn’t do until Fry joined. I have vague memories of him leaving and a load of other UK comedians some time early 2010’s for… some reason. But, they always come back.
The amount of people I seen that were legitimately upset with Twitter's likes becoming private was the most baffling thing to me, especially when private likes is pretty standard on other sites yet you don't see anyone making a fuss about it (e.g. Google removed the option to even make your TH-cam likes public some time ago, yet I never seen anything about it and only found out myself when I saw I no longer could make my own TH-cam likes public when going through my playlists' visibility settings). The only semi-reasonable point I seen for having public likes was people supposedly using them to find new art and other content in their friends' likes, but that sounds like such an inefficient way to find new content when you would have to dig through all the other unorganized crap someone hits the like button on, and if someone wants other people seeing something that they liked, they would just retweet it anyway rather than wanting people to stalk their likes. Otherwise, it all seemed like people complaining just for the sake of complaining about anything Musk does to Twitter because "Elon bad" (and well, people being upset that they can no longer stalk the Twitter likes of someone they have a beef with to find something to "out" them for, but they wouldn't admit it, at least most of the semi self-aware ones anyway).
@makutas-v261 I’m confused. How exactly is furry art decadent? Who decided what is moral in moral decay? Is art a luxury? It costs nothing but time unless paid for. Choose real issues like wealth inequality, commodification, and censorship.

While I can complain about Elon Musk being a Redditor like his rivals and Twitter just turning anyone into a freak, it's better to leave them be. Also, as much as I want to appreciate BlueSky, the site has become Chuck Wendig.
I despise Musk generally and I really hate Tesla and their business practices. But Twitter isn't really any worse. If anything, it's slightly better (apart from the name X, that was just dumb)
What I find really funny about people who say Elon is a terrible CEO and credits his success to "engineers" are often the same people who will single out and blame CEOs of other companies that crash and burn, the engineers at these other companies are free of scrutiny. How they're oblivious to this cognitive dissonance is crazy to me
The most interesting thing, still to this day that should be discussed every single time it gets brought up, is that Musk fired 70% of the entire Twitter staff, and it still worked perhaps even better than before. That should break people's mind on how they perceive the world works and who contributes.
I used to not like elon, he felt very "how do you do fellow kids?" And i still think he's a dork honestly, but i'd gladly take a dork rich guy who just wants to do stuff he wants rather than the other rich guys we have now that bend laws to make themselves richer.

People want EVs, solar power, self driving and human space travel to fail out of spite and it's kind of insane. You can think the guy is kind of an asshat online and straight up dislike him for that but damn give credit where credit is due.
Elon Musk made it impossible to browse twitter without logging in, so it's now dead for me at the very least.
Yet they'll think you're "media illiterate" if you're a right-winger who can relate to MGS2.
To be fair right wing anything is forever demonized so long as TH-cam doesn't allow it to exist in an unfiltered, uncucked form. Its existing lime how enemies exist in 1984, beaten, bruised and owned by the majority (far left TH-cam that loves debunking everything right wing)
ironically the story of that game would be seen as a far right conspiracy theory today

I never understood the weird checkmark envy. I really don't understand paying for one.
@Hoop-aloop
That's what it was designed for, but then Twitter started handing them out to arbitrary minor journalists with little to no public profile.
