Hey mate! Why don't you start a nostalgic channel about the golden years of ps1/2 era!? If this is already your intention then please consider this message instead ---> Hope you have success! Thank you :).
To this day Looney Toons - Sheep Raider is one of the most thought provoking video games I have ever played. The visuals were gorgeous and the level progression required so much critical thinking, this is my first time seeing it represented in a PSX list. Such an underrated game.
I remember having a blast playing looney tunes there was so much to do in it it was a long and sometimes hard game with a good story unlike games today they are pure trash they could learn a thing or 2 from psx games but they are too dumb
And though most of these games are good, still only a few of them would crack the PS1's top 100 games list. The Super Nintendo/Famicom and PS1 to me is a toss up for best system ever.
I looked these games up and lot of them got mixed reviews, even from back in the day. I picked out some of the best one that narrows it down to less than 100. Def not underrated titles. There is a reasons they are obscure and def not the better of PS1.
@@davidaitken8503 For a debut system the PS1 did a pretty damn good job, and the game library is massive, but the Super Famicom is better, but for me they're equal simply because of the RPGs.

One time I bought Future Cop L.A.P.D (#40) after playing the demo. This game was awesome and still would recommend it (campaign / co-op as well as well-designed VS mode which could last for an hour). True challenging masterpiece. To this list I would add Soviet Strike. You had to make strategic choices during the missions, eg. if going back for few fuel tanks / ammo was necessary risking urgent hostage rescue. The real time mission cut-scenes depending on your actions made the blood pumping.
thank you so much i had this image in my head of this game i remember playing that i loved and did not know the name, it was Blast Chamber thank you for making this!
03:54 OMG I finally obtained the Holy Grail of my childhood gaming memories I've sought for years... So it's called Future Cop LAPD! I was looking for this title for quite a long time to no avail. In my country this game is so obscure that I've never heard anybody talk about it online or IRL, and I actually didn't buy it either as I played this on a demo disc I used to have as a child but never got around to buying the product. I even forgot the title, all I had was some vague impressions of gameplay like it was an isometric shooter involving walking mechs, counter-terrorist force and stuff. Despite having never bought it then somehow I grew more and more curious about it years later but haven't been able to find any information of it. I'm really glad I stumbled upon this video. Thanks a lot!
I actually played quite a few of these. At least in Spain they weren't as hidden by the looks of it. The days when you just bought a game because you liked the cover.
I remeber demo on psx before i and my bro get full wersion. It have 2 min time limit fot first stage. It was full level but after 2 min it end. So me and my bro start training together to beat that 2 min. We make a plans strategies that make us like two men swat team. Each one whit diffrent objectives to acomplish, and we get so good that we not only beat that 2 min but we go under 1:40. Good times.
Wow. So many great games here. I had a lot of ps1 games probably over 200 back in the days and still happy to see that I owned 3 out of 100 of these games. I beat Strikers 1945 2 but failed to beat C12 Final Resistance and Castlevania.. I also remember skipping school to play Future Cop and PanzerBandit with my best bud.. I hope you make part 2 of this. i would love to add Nuclear Dawn and Brave Fencer Musashi though I'm not sure if they are rare or not.
Gary,many compliments for your videos:i always have good time.But i think,they need one more second,between one videogame,and the other,to appreciate them completely.Thank you,have a good day.
+Gandalf Il Grigio Thanks for the kind words and feedback! A few others have said the same thing - that 6 seconds is not enough; the problem is that I work in 10 minutes pieces. Most of my viewers are people who prefer a 10 minute maximum. Having said that, I recently posted a "Top 50 N64 In 10 Minutes" which means I doubled the time to a generous 12 seconds per video! Please check it out and let me know if you prefer this
As soon as I saw Alien Resurrection in the beginning I knew this would be a nice list. Criminally underrated horror sci-fi game. Still one of the scariest I played.
Boombots (#12) was the first VS game I got when I bought my first PS1. It was rather difficult to learn for a while, but eventually I did manage to finally open every character. Loved those clay-mation sequences; funny as hell.
@@CrazyFriendlyGamerAlex haha me too. I buy it on ps3, and when i play in my psp after get tire of Monster hunter, switch inmediatly to this game. Playing as Mint is so fun with the mágics, also the versatile transformations of Rue along with the great soundtrack. Man, that was my childhood.
My dad and I bonded over Future Cop. It meant so much that when we lost our first copy in the mid-2000s, he found another one on eBay for us to continue playing. Glad it's on this list!!!
WOW.. the games I found on this list that I wanted are actually very pricey :( . Awesome video as always! So I've always wondered, do you play all these and record a piece of each game?!? If so you must have a huuge collection that is pretty EPIC
Yes, in 99% of these cases, either myself or one of my team is playing these - and we are capturing these ourselves. So, most of the time, when you see that awful gameplay? Yep, that's me. I don't actually own most of them personally; I am fortunate to have some very well stocked collectors in my social circle that are able to provide me with many of the rarer titles!
Broo blast-from-the past! I commented here 4 yrs ago when I first started my retro game collection. Now I have close to 1,500 games 😎 Started my shiz w your guidance sensei 😁 grazie 👍
OMG - wow! SUPER THANKS for the Super thanks! Much appreciated! And also - I am super happy to know this channel helped someone start something great. You just made my day, kind person! 1500 games is amazing...maybe time to start your own channel?
Sos un Genio !! Que gran trabajo amigo, me he visto todos tus videos en una sola noche, son increibles !! Sigue asi !! Te mando un inmenso abrazo desde Argentina !!
Another fantastic list Gary 😄 fun fact, Alien Resurrection was the first game to use what have now become modern FPS controls, it's a history book of a game for the genre, I've owned it for a decade and still never completed it, PS1 games are tough 😭
Sadly, Alien Resurrection came out late in the PS1's life cycle -so it didn't get much press. I loved it - it was genuinely scary, too. One of the most graphically impressive PS1 games!
@@GaryRetroGamer I agree, definitely scary! I loved Alien Trilogy on PS1 too, man that game is one of my favourites of all time! I definitely need to get around to completing Resurrection sooner or later though..
For a channel just named "Gary" you have some pretty damn interesting videos without all the b.s. just getting straight to the good stuff I couldn't believe how many Sega Saturn games there were for Japan only that were good games it just boggles my mind that they never were released in the U.S. might of made the outcome of the bad sales with the Sega Saturn different if it had more of a variety of decent games
Building some pi's for my brother and sister, never realized how good the ps1 library was until now, games I didn't know or forgot about, plus I love the early 3d graphics
My gems in the PSX: Silent Bomber Destrega Panzer Bandit Monster Seed Dragon Seed Edit: Monster RANCHER 3 (not monster hunter 3, like wow) Evil Zone Gungauge Gundam Battle Assault 2 Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack Klonoa: Door to Phantomile Mainstream Games: Tekken 3 Castlevania SOTN Tenchu: Stealth Assassin FF7, FF8 Bloody Roar 2 Like if you play the gems I play! :)
I did some work on Italian Job (PS1) and asked to be in the credits but the manager only put "Special thanks to family and friends" i was well pissed off, its a long story...
Wow big thanks to Gary and everyone in the comment suggesting additional hidden gems, will be trying lots of these, also not sure if they qualify as hidden gems but stars wars episode 1 the phantom menace was tough but great and Stuart Little 2 was just great :)
Oh I remember Evil Zone and Trap gunner. Both are very enjoyable. And Evil Zone was one of the most original fighting games out there. Especially with the "anime"/"tokusatsu" intros for each character
My sister forever had a "Beyond the Beyond" case that didn't have the actual game disc in it. :( I remember a few of these. Most rare one here that I played was Blast Radius, up there with DRAGON VALOR!
I thought the same thing; I thought I was a well informed gamer in the 90s - read all the magazines, played all the top games. But when researching the games for the video, I was like "I missed out!". I think that's more of the impact of marketing. If I played/purchased a game, it was because I had read about it in a magazine (or early gaming website), and the only way for that to happen was for the game company to invest in the marketing. It's not surprising then, that many of these games had little to no marketing budget - which means I probably wouldn't have heard of them. A real shame for some of these titles.
Some more gems that were missing in the video: Board Game Top Shop, Tales of Destiny 1 and II, Circuit Breakers, Irritating Stick, Juggernaut, Builder's Block (aka Landmaker), Roll Away (aka Kula World), Peak Performance, Uprising X, Elemental Gearbolt, Assault Rigs, Eliminator, Guardian's Crusade, Zanac X Zanac, Brahma Force, RC de Go!, and Project Horned Owl.
Please excuse the typo on #96 - it should be "Urban Chaos" ... not "Ubran Chaos".
Also #33 should be spelled "Ehrgeiz".

That one "Trap Gunner" stands easily on my top 10 for best ps1 games
I looooove Trap Gunner. I´ve never seen anything like that anymore.
WOW.. the games I found on this list that I wanted are actually very pricey :( .
Finally, someone mentioned "Silent Bomber & C-12"!!
Fantastic games both.
Thank you for the nostalgia and now i know the name of a game i was looking for military madness #65 on the list.
I would add brave fencer musashi, spec ops, and jersey's devil to this list.
jersey's devil!!!
C-12 and Blaster Master brought so much memories 😭
I want my childhood back
This was SO helpful in deciding what to download for my Arcade Box, thanks Gary!
Brought back a lot of memories, and I loved the king's field. Vandal Hearts and ssxtricky. Bro, the alien on a ufo snowboard.
Thanks for this video man, had Silent Bomber in the back of my mind and just couldn't put a name to it! Appreciate ya :)
Been collecting for the PS1 recently. I missed out on ALOT of neat games!!
Holy shh, the nostalgia hits. I remember some of these games were free when my dad bought the console.
hey guys i suggest u play countdown vampire, soul of samurai, silent bomber, urban chaos and sled storm !
Sos un Genio !! Que gran trabajo amigo, me he visto todos tus videos en una sola noche, son increibles !! Sigue asi !! Te mando un inmenso abrazo desde Argentina !!
Excellent list my friend, really good
Threads of Fate was amazing for its time. And Gradius Gaiden is the most complete Gradius imo. Truly hidden gems.
I only played few of them. I will try to play the others. Great List!
Evil Zone was my favorite fighting game from PS1 ❤️
16: C-12 got a special place in my heart. This game is amazing.
Building some pi's for my brother and sister, never realized how good the ps1 library was until now, games I didn't know or forgot about, plus I love the early 3d graphics
Future cop I've been trying remember the name of this game for years thank you
Wow! I've not heard of most of these! I feel guilty for not owning them or even hearing of them, they all look so much fun!
Awesome dude.they really tried their best I think.I think they should remake some of these games.
Very Nice list
Some great games here that I'd completely forgotten about. Cheers
This man knows which one that had to be the thumbnail 👍

evil zone is still my fav fighter of all time. its always amazed me how few people played/owend it growing up.
Galerians!! That was a really dark game and a great survival horror!!

Dragon Seed
Edit: Monster RANCHER 3 (not monster hunter 3, like wow)

Boom Bots, what a rare gem indeed. I used to play that games hours on end.
amazing list as always! thanks!
I had a blast playing Chaos Break back in the day , it's such an underrated game.
Eretzvaju(Evil Zone).. Had it on Japanese.. I Remember buying this game, it was a rainy day, Love the intro "Kiss in the dark"
What an awesome video, brought back so many memories!
I did some work on Italian Job (PS1) and asked to be in the credits but the manager only put "Special thanks to family and friends" i was well pissed off, its a long story...
Team Buddies was one of the best multiplayer games ever made. I'd love to see a sequel or remake on modern consoles.
Future cop lapd❤️❤️ i played it soooo often as a child with my Suhl ngs and now with almost 30 in my modded PS Vita again 🔥
what software are you using looks nice
Nice lista!Good work!
Wow big thanks to Gary and everyone in the comment suggesting additional hidden gems, will be trying lots of these, also not sure if they qualify as hidden gems but stars wars episode 1 the phantom menace was tough but great and Stuart Little 2 was just great :)
Considering this is a list of games that were underrated, it's surprising how many of these I played and loved.
Oh I remember Evil Zone and Trap gunner. Both are very enjoyable. And Evil Zone was one of the most original fighting games out there. Especially with the "anime"/"tokusatsu" intros for each character
Started at 5:12 is my favorite PS1 game! The violent POKEMON of Jade cocoon!
gonna play all old great ps1 games in my phone forever!
what emulator used for this video? good video.
My sister forever had a "Beyond the Beyond" case that didn't have the actual game disc in it. :(
I remember a few of these. Most rare one here that I played was Blast Radius, up there with DRAGON VALOR!
nice list, some of them aren't gems but some of then are and I will be adding those to my collection :)
Nice list man
We need a game like Team Buddies in the actual gen t.t, that one was a masterpiece, too bad it doesn't work with sim :c
And here I am, a veteran gamer from 90's but I only knew 4 or 6 title in this video... Heck... It's time to turn that old PSX on
I thought the same thing; I thought I was a well informed gamer in the 90s - read all the magazines, played all the top games.
Threads of fate had a really catchy OST. Definitely one of my favorites games as a kid.
Shipwreckers was such a fun game!
Some more gems that were missing in the video:
Board Game Top Shop, Tales of Destiny 1 and II, Circuit Breakers, Irritating Stick, Juggernaut, Builder's Block (aka Landmaker), Roll Away (aka Kula World), Peak Performance, Uprising X, Elemental Gearbolt, Assault Rigs, Eliminator, Guardian's Crusade, Zanac X Zanac, Brahma Force, RC de Go!, and Project Horned Owl.
Excellent choices! And will most likely result in a Part 2 of this video! Thanks for the suggestions
Thank you for bringing this to my attention
