Considering how expensive those things are for real enthusiasts (from dedicated companies) I would say Fanatec is NOT expensive. Best thing is, you can buy in the 2nd hand market and get some really sweet deals. I got myself a 911 Porsche RS3 (or was it 2) with some plastic fanatec pedals and a heavy duty metal stand for 130 EURO. Its old, and I had to clean it with alcohol to take off the dried up oils.... but its one hell of a setup for a casual like me. Currently, a CSL DD 8Nm+Podium wheel+V3 inverted pedals+shifter will set you back around 1800 EUR. You can expect to get that in ... 4 years? in 2nd hand market for 1200 EURO. (But you better be checking every day cus that will be bought fast). I already saw 1 ad for a used CSL DD for sale in Poland, but price is way too high. EDIT: Podium classic wheel that is.
@@tinyspeaker I disagree. I am not going to buy it myself (it is too expensive for how little I would use it), but for a real enthusiast all gear is expensive. The fact is that Fanatec has managed to bring the price down a lot.

I wish they offered more wheels in 350mm. My actual track car wheel is 350mm, and it makes driving on the sim feel a little like a toy with the smaller wheels. 270mm is WAY smaller than most cars. The OEM E36 steering wheels are 350-370mm-ish.
@@dolovo_gaming3081 I've considered that, but then I have to bring the wheel inside, remove the quick-release, re-affix it to the one for the base, then reverse all that before I can use it in the car again. It's too much of a hassle IMO. 270mm is LAUGHABLY small, and makes the wheel feel like a toy. 330mm is the absolute smallest they should go. Most aftermarket wheels are either 330mm or 350mm.
Great Video! I hope fanatec saw this video and gave you a complete set of their podium line. For sure they sold a bunch of stuff just because of your video
Regarding the Flat 2 V2 and the Round 1, these are much smaller than passenger car wheels. They're meant to emulate open wheel cars, from junior level to 70s-90s F1 stuff. The 270mm diameter is far smaller than the 330-360mm you get in most passenger cars. Generally 300mm is middle of the road, whereas larger ones are more suited for GT/Road cars, and smaller 270mm wheels are more for F1 cars and open wheel cars that require faster adjustments.
Fanatec is a little much for what I would like to spend, but I'm thinking I should at least look into that H-pattern shifter. It looks nice and seems to be a little bit less pricey than a lot of their lineup
What's great about these products is that platform compatibility is also interchangeable to a degree. For instance... For Playstation compatibility, you need a wheel base which is compatible with Playstation, and then you can use ANY wheel, even one made for Xbox, and the wheel base will MAKE that wheel compatible with Playstation. For Xbox, you NEED an Xbox wheel, but it doesn't matter which wheel base you use. That means if you have a Playstation wheel base but want to use it on Xbox, it won't work if you use a Playstation wheel. But, put an Xbox wheel on it, and it will MAKE the wheel base compatible with Xbox. The reason for this is that the respective security chips for Playstation and Xbox are in the wheel base and wheel (respectively). I found this out after browsing the Fanatec website for some time, and it's actually brilliant, because I really wanted the McLaren V2 GT3 wheel, but my wheel base is PS compatible. Because that wheel is an Xbox wheel, and my wheel base is a PS wheel base, it actually means I can use that combination on ALL THREE PLATFORMS. Absolute genius, Fanatec!
