Sorin, you used to do many videos a week/month and I used to be hooked watching - was brilliant. It's all dried up and you've fallen down my list, feels like you've given up a bit - when are you going to bring it all back with power?
i really do appriciate you Sir. from the time i started watching your videos i knew nothing zero about motherboards repair but now, i've grown so fast I've learnt a lot from you. thank you so much. God bless you and what ever you touch.
Ive worked on a few similar dell laptops, and they are very durable, well built machines. I have a few that have a nice magnesium bottom cover. I also have a couple from similar era that you have to completely disassemble to change the cmos battery, which really sucks, but other than that they are very nice to work on, easy to change CPU/RAM/Primary storage/wifi/...
I love your great video dear Sorin. I also have a DELL laptop it has been running for almost 4 years and was very expensive. It's a gaming laptop but I'm not gaming, I just want something fast. 😌 I always think what would Sorin say "wooow thats a very nice laptop" ☺☺
Hi Sorin, by removing the shorted capacitor the issue is fixed but wouldn't you replace the capacitor with another one to "properly fix" the fault? Which brings me to my next question: How can you identify the capacitance of these tiny capacitors when they're shorted and you don't have a schematic? Thanks for the video, great as always!
Have the E6230 , best laptop iv ever owned stick an SSD and RAM upgrade , your set , been 8 years and still going touch wood , replaced battery as its just attached to back , try that on a mac 😂

Dell laptop are pretty solid, got one from 10 years ago, it has a lot of screw to disassemble it completely. And it's running fine, with 8GB ram and SSD. Unless you do gaming or run virtual machines no need for more. On the other end i have an asus vivo from 5 years ago with broken hinges, bug on super io (i need to disconnect and reconnect internal battery for it to power on) and sound is broken. I'm using the Dell, the asus one is only there to store my eth wallet.
This is so great. Love it. very educational I didn't get what was the problem with the capacitor? Obviously it is toasted, but does that mean it has a short circuit? can we just remove a piece like this and expect the laptop to operate as usual? In other words, why this capacitor was there in the first place if its removal doesn't affect the functioning of the laptop?
usually they are extra for protection or smoothing uneven current etc so best case you should put back but not the end of the world if you dont it will still work
Nice job sir, contrary to a Dell latitude e6510 I got here, it has this fault. 1, If the battery is in it, and I plug the charger in it, the charger light goes off. And the system won't charge but will definitely come on as long as the battery is still connected. 2, it can not be use when plugged and battery is in it the same time. i.e. If the system is on and the battery is low, and I plug the charger in, it goes off completely. 3, It powers on only if either of the battery is plugged in or the charger is plugged in without the battery. 4, it doesn't charge at all (I use other battery-compatible system to charge the battery anytime it's low. Would love to get your response on it.
Hi Sorin , before I comment about your new venture I must tell you I have repair my first iphone 7 . as to your Business I believe it will work as to equipment I would look at atten st 862d hot air station , very good product
Bought a similar laptop for a customer as these are the older Dell business pro grade versions & it's still running Win10 with a Samsung SSD upgrade as customer didn't want to upgrade it. Pity all laptop chargers don't have a power light ring like Dell has. Good, fast fix!
only remove and not replace :D (since I had to replace my Blackberry I bought a CAT phone with a thermal camera, which works very well for finding hotspots )
Good practice is to replace the capacitor. Whether it is a singe capacitor or multiple capacitors in parallel their function is to suppress noise / spikes / surges and thereby protect other components, which, if they fail, can do more, expensive damage. Cleaning clogged fans is also good practice.
This is quick and nice, but I have a question, can i use the regular used vehicle petrol for this ? I have been trying to fix my Asus K55VD with similar issue, no power no charging..
Sorin good evening sir, Greater teacher I have confirmed the voltage across the board it seems the voltage isn't affect, (because I can read 19.5v all through). But still the PC isn't going to life or charging
When injecting 19v directly to mosfet, you do on drain at high side mosfet? Isn't safer to do on power connector at big shunt resistor, because I saw on video once you put by mistake on low side fet And Isn't is more safer to inject 1v. If you put 19v to low side drain it goes directly to inductor or mcu
Nice.video but i have one laptop qomoaq cq71 no power when take the charger have light but litle end goon off no coming on nothing be posiblle to repair thanks mister sorin
So if it just doesn't charge but the battery is new and the charger works that would mean the motherboard or the charger socket is broken and would need to be repaired?
Hey Sorin, is there an electric screwdriver you would recommend to buy besides the one you use? With the price of $100 it's to expensive for hobby use.
Hi Sorin...I just want to ask you do you have any video for.....HOW TO USE DC POWER SUPPLY Machine. Could you please make a video on Power Supply Machine?
I'm a fan of yours. I liked your videos. Can I send you my laptop? It's having a charging issue. Unable to charge the battery. I have to direct the power supply. Dell Inspiron 1564. And I'm from India.
um from Africa your videos are Soo educative we missed you
It was so funny to see you try to turn it on and not have the video or the power plugged in. I do the same thing ALL the time! Great job as always!
Always great to see a friend helping a friend. Nice work.

Disassemble device is what take the most time. You should get a BIG BOSS
maybe you have to explain BIG BOSS, because not everybody knows NorthridgeFix😉

i Never knew the charger indicator can be used as an indicator to spot short on the motherboard. thats awesome. great

well done Sorin hope Patrick is pleased with the repair BUT GET HIM A BETTER SCREEN :=)
Hi Sorin, i use phone as a thermal camera. Model: CAT S60. It’s not perfect but it’s cheap to buy compared to a thermal imaging camera…
This was so much informative than just usign a thermal camera to spot the failure.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos 👍

Brilliant quick fix thanks
You make it look easy.. Brilhante
Salutare , și felicitări pt munca care o faci, ce părere ai?
Looked like you were shorting the capacitor and the MOSFET while probing with power plugged in.....saw some arcing (e.g. 17:01)?
7:47 you can see this too

Good, fast fix!
The AmScope 3.5X-45X Trinocular Stereo Boom Zoom Microscope + Fluorescent Light

Excellent! Thank you for sharing.

Greetings i loved your work, keep up the good work with love and support always.
only remove and not replace :D

Already subscribed. Always interesting to watch the problem solving. 👍
Always a pleasure to watching your videos
Nice tutorial sir thank you for sharing this video
I keep asking the same question: Is it necesary to replace that capacitor or you can leave it without it?
best to leave it out so it carnt short again

I love watch your videos dear Sorin!

16:10 lol a plastic shield. Do you think Apple would add a plastic shield to stop liquid spills, definitely not - lol -.
hell no , thats what the new one is waiting for some sucker to buy it lol

@Sorin, can I ship an XPS15 that stopped charging/seeing the battery first and now doesn't even power on? I would really like to get it fixed.
Good job mate 👍

Nice.video but i have one laptop qomoaq cq71 no power when take the charger have light but litle end goon off no coming on nothing be posiblle to repair thanks mister sorin
Hi. With the bad capacitor on the Dell, are you replacing the bad cap or there is no need to?
i would like to know also. onced removed, i would think it should be replaced.
So if it just doesn't charge but the battery is new and the charger works that would mean the motherboard or the charger socket is broken and would need to be repaired?
Hello Sorin, when you need cheap and good thermo camera buy a phone CAT S60.. Im very satisfying with it. 😉
It's a good video - it's just too rare now a days. . . .
Thanks for video Sorin.
Why petrol and not IPA alcohol ?
this is a gut indikation we have a shorter motherborder 🤣🤣🤣
Hey Sorin, is there an electric screwdriver you would recommend to buy besides the one you use? With the price of $100 it's to expensive for hobby use.
Sure, follow the link from the description
Dobra robota Patryk. Pozdrowienia. :)

I'm a fan of yours. I liked your videos. Can I send you my laptop? It's having a charging issue. Unable to charge the battery. I have to direct the power supply. Dell Inspiron 1564. And I'm from India.
Please sir I need a video on how to use the power supply
Thanks easy repair with patrol and burning 🔥 fingers
I'm still using this laptop in 2022 😅
You inject 19v in the v core ? If any mosfet is shorted is should be dangerous for cpu .
NO! Not with a 2 Amps limit on the power supply! :)
