Chance to be hit not damage taken. The first 3 games used dice rolls. They used negative numbers as the early TES games were using the combat system of 2nd Edition D&D which used THAC0 to calculate hit chances. It's why raising agility also increased your hit chance and lowered your chance to be hit as it gave a dodge bonus.
As to how THAC0 works, say you are rolling a 20 sided dice and you need to roll a 16 to hit your enemy. The enemy has +3 armor. Then you would go 16 - (+3) = 13, so you would need to roll a 13 or higher on the dice to land a hit. No say your enemy had -4 armor like in Arena. The calculation would be 16 - (-4) = 20. So you would need to roll a 20 on the dice to secure hit. That's damn near impossible without using buffs from spells or magic items like a +1 sword.

@@greenshadow131 oh I know I've a read an in game book that references "The Jungles of Cyrodiil". But like I said it was most likely their first concept for the province then they changed their minds when they started work on Oblivion. This happens a lot with world building you have ideas for locales but really it's not until you sit down and work in depth with a region in a fantasy world do you come up with its final identity.
The problem wasn't that that occurred when they sat down and worked on Cyrodiil as the setting for Oblivion. The problem was they didn't do that in depth world building for it earlier in the series. Let's be honest before TES 3 Morrowind lore wise was pretty bland. Then they crafted the beautiful lore the Dunmer have with the Tribunal and Nerevar for TES 3. So Morrowind got that in depth treatment for Tes 3 that Cyrodiil got for TES 4. Just that Cyrodiil got a much more drastic make over than Morrowind.

11:46 there's actually canonically two Ebonhearts; the lore reasoning is essentially vivec going "Oh hey, this place is cool! Archcanon! Have another one made, but cooler, and on Vvardenfell!"

    • @Kuchenwurst
      @Kuchenwurst 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

Going by Tamriel Rebuilt, the Vvardenfell Ebonheart was built as an expansion of Old Ebonheart at the Mainland's coast. The Armistice legally prevented the Empire to found new settlements on Vvardenfell, but they kind of got around that by declaring it an expansion of an existing settlement.

    That is a Khajiit
Basically these Khajiit are more like people with some features of cats
Later, they decided to retcon this by saying "oh actually Khajiit come in many forms, some of which look way more Elven than feline"
They actually made some interesting lore behind it. Basically the phase taht Masser and Secunda are in at any one Khajiit's birth determines what they look like
I believe Masser's aspect determines how upright they are
    Full - Large Quadruped
    Waxing - Large Biped
    New - Small Biped
    Waning - Small Quadruped
Secunda determines how animalistic they are. This is more simple. If it's waxing, they appear less bestial, if waning, more bestial
So Arena's Khajiit were those born during a waxing aspect of Secunda, where Masser was New. Masser Waxing has no human like anything, they are all very feline.
This means they are either Ohmes, or Ohmes-Raht. Likely Ohmes. They look similar to bosmer but shorter. Masser is New, Secunda is Full. For the Ohmes-Raht Secunda is waxing. This gives them some golden fur and a tail, and they're tall as men.
Furthermore, the ones seen in Skyrim and Cyrodil are confirmed to mostly be Cathay, Waxing Masser with Full Secunda. This makes them the least bestial, which is why they are so upright compared to other games, and speak very humanly, despite being feline
The ones in Morrowind are Suthay-Raht. These are small bipeds, same Masser aspect as the Ohmes, expect Secunda is Waning. They have long tales and digitigrade legs, with high set cat ears and feline facial features. They are more bestial than the ones from Cyrodil, but also weaker and smaller
Thats everything I got from the wiki, have fun with that explanation of why Arena has Khajit like that
Oh one more thing. There are giant talking cats that humanoid khajit like Cathay apparently ride into battle. This may or may not be voluntary
