- My curiosity got the better of me so I decided to check out An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire. This often overlooked game isn't as well known as the other mainline Elder Scrolls games. I'm going to find out right quick why.

@@mustangmckraken1150 nah I disagree Skyrim has many flaws and it's map isn't as compelling as Morrowind's but it's landscape is downright gorgeous.
@@mustangmckraken1150 I like the general grey, white snowy ambient of skyrim. It explains why Nords have so much ice resistance, because they live in a frozen wasteland. Even in the dragonborn song, they are referred as "the sons of snow".

Well the game is now actually as fun to play as Fallout 4, which still isn't much of an improvement.

@@mon0lithic629 F4's a satisfying and addictive looter-shooter-explorer, that's why. Say what you want about it but they know their audience and they made a world that's fun to run around and shoot stuff in.

After I finished Morrowind, I went to Electronic Boutique and bought Battlespire. It was brand new at the time. The manager (who knew me) said I would hate the game and recommended for me not to get it, but I didn't listen. It was Elder Scrolls after all. Yeah, I returned it 3 days later. He just shook his head at me and refunded it. He said, "You'll listen to me next time?" I agreed. LOL. I miss the old days sometimes.

I don't know too much about Battlespire, but lorewise it seems kinda cool. Gameplay-wise, not so much. From what I understand the story is that you're trying to reclaim the Battlespire, which is a tower connected to the various realms of Oblivion that was used to train Imperial Battlemages. That premise alone would at least pique my interest, so I can see why others would give it a try.
I now decree that the image to represent us basement losers is the battlespire character, regardless of context or game covered.
Seriously tho, best representation of a Micky D basement dweller.

@@kacperzimowski4626 I found this whole video frustrating. Why would he choose to pick a custom class on his first playthrough then not even equip items. Then he acts like the game can only be played with the prefect class.

IIRC, you can actually cheese this game by shooting an arrow at an enemy, pausing, and then continuing to shoot arrows at them while paused. For some reason the game still lets you shoot arrows while paused, so you can literally stack as many arrows as you want and instakill any enemy. I believe this can work for Mehrunes Dagon as well.

You are supposed to use some of your starting points to buy equipment and spells during the character creation. :)
That will make things a lot easier. But it will still be challenging.
I guess it's thematically aligned with his level 1 zero equipment Morrowind video series.
This actually looks really cool, the graphics are a bit better than arena and dagger fall which is impressive
It's has so many cool ideas. It could've been a cult classic, but then it piles in so many stupid ideas it ruins the game. If they'd just gotten rid of the platforming, it would be tolerable.
The story premise is actually pretty cool! From my understanding, the Battlespire, a tower that is connected to Oblivion via portals within, has been taken over by the forces of Mehrunes Dagon, and you have to reclaim it after waking up and finding yourself trapped in the tower. Your battle with Dagon is so legendary that it severs the connection between the Battlespire and Oblivion, rendering it near useless for its original purpose of training Imperial Battlemages.

Dodging skill is broken for all these older games. It actually improves your chance to be hit, and they never bothered to fix it.

Yeah, the wiki states it if you look, and after a long time of gameplay, you'll notice you get hit with every attack
I thought it lowered your odds to hit enemies in Daggerfall.

And its purpose is was to train Imperial Battlemages
I played battlespire before I played oblivion, and really enjoyed the oblivion gates because of it!

You can knock an arrow while pausing the game, allowing you to instantly one-shot every enemy in the game. So Bows are by far the best choice.
That glitch is my favorite part of this entire game. I may be wrong about this, but doesn't it also work on Mehrunes Dagon?

4:14. That scream is also in Gothic 2. Sometimes NPCs will make that scream when you kill them, or especially if they fall off a cliff to their death.

I always felt that this game, as bad as it is, is a diamond in the rough. I think it would make a good candidate for a Skyggerfall-esque remake on the Skyrim engine. BattleSkyre? lol

"from the creators of fallout 76" at the start is like that one jump-kick that starts off a huge, round-ending combo in a fighting game.
Battlespire is magically powered interdimensional space station, the stuff they had before the dragon break was CRAZY and quite futuristic. The "boats" are crazy flying spaceships....basically?

It's brutal, because getting it to work back then was a nightmare and a half. Seriously, it took me 20 years to get to play my copy, and that was only because of Dosbox.

Because some of the people who made new vegas and the original fallout are part od the compny that made outer worlds. It was cool the first few hours. Then got boring. Honestly the combat wasnt that exciting, the story wasnt all that interesting and yeah.. didnt pull me in

I remember buying this game on the clearance rack. I think I spent more time trying to get it to run than I actually did playing it.
this game always appealed to me bc im pretty sure it ran on the daggerfall engine but with 3d rendering, which was something i always desperately wanted. but now we have daggerfall unity, so all is good.

Battlespire is a spacestation, god I miss old TES lore.
And it was used as a training ground for Imperial Battlemages purely because of its connection to Oblivion. IIRC, the Battlespire was pretty much useless after the events of this game because your battle with Mehrunes Dagon severed the ties between the tower and Oblivion permanently.

A global generation who knows who Bob Ross is. It's such a cultured world these days. When we couldn't make such cultured references outside the Americas, Planescape Torment was the game Battlespire wanted to be.

What was the multiplayer like? I've never played this game but I know a little bit about it from other videos.
