Don't compare industries. Every industries are different. We don't have a movie like 'RRR' to perform like that. Most of our actors are way better than ntr and ram charan in the case of acting skills. It is only about budget. That is the only area we are lacking. We need good producers. Pls don't compare actors even north Indians are praising our industry.

Demand അനുസരിച്ച് supply ഉണ്ടാവും. നമുക്ക് മലയാളത്തിൽ ഈ പറഞ്ഞ 'package' ന് market കുറവാണ്. അല്ലാതെ business അറിയുന്നവർ ഇവിടെ ഇല്ലാത്തത് കൊണ്ട് അല്ലല്ലോ. Package നടന്മാരെ writers ഉം directors ഉം ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നില്ല. മറ്റു ഭാഷകളിലെ താങ്കൾ പറഞ്ഞ package നടന്മാർക്ക് മലയാളത്തിൽ ഉള്ള പോലെ layered ആയിട്ടുള്ള characters ചെയ്യാനും സാധിക്കില്ല. കാരണം അവിടെ അതിന് വിപണി കുറവാണ്. മലയാളത്തിൽ സൂപ്പർ ഹിറ്റ് ആയ മറ്റു ഭാഷകളിലേക്ക് റീമേക്ക് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട പടങ്ങൾ നോക്കിയാൽ കാണാം അതിൽ നമ്മൾ ചളി എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്ന സാധനം കുത്തി നിറച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. Malayalam cinema may not have a complete youth actor like you said like from Tamil or Telugu films but it's about how we overcome those hurdles in ways we can to make our films just as good or better than films produced in other industries, with our screenplay, directions and acting etc. I mean acting is not just looking good or being able to do a mass scene or dance right. Our cinema compensates for those shortcomings and work with the actors strengths in making an engaging movie for us plus everyone is improving, you might have to make another video later on embracing how far our actors have come in a few years time 😎

There's some thing called audience's taste. Here in malayalam it's different from other indian industries. There, audience are always behind so called packaged movies and less interested in content oriented ones. And here malayali audience are always interested in watching content oriented movies than packaged ones. This is an industry where movies like Sudani from Nigeria was a hit! Which we can't imagine in any other indian states. Well you can't judge iranian movies or korean by comparing to hollywood movies right? Same logic should be applied to malayalam also. Here even commercial movies happens in our own style, rest other indian industries goes behind format ones. Here everything's different. In short, sarvakalavallabhan stars similar to other industries are never a requirement in this industry and hence they never going to happen!

Except physical structure, Mohanlal was and is doing his maximum to recreate such movies. Mammootty always added youngsters to fill the dance, romance, fun gaps. Dileep tried his best to create package movies after reaching his stardom. I had your same thought in early 2000, when I saw old actors doing romance with young actresses, doing fight and trying to do dance mimics, kunchakko boban and dileep were only young actors atleast survived. Man....I love this dudes videos.....his brutal honesty without being very loud is just really engaging.....whatever he has discussed in the video is 100% right.....I had been thinking about this for a long time....the so called youth icons we have in malayalam are literally dudes in their 30s.....yeah....youth icons of the other industries that he is talking about are also in their 30's....what we had was Shane Nigam who was getting roles consistently till 2019 but his shenanigans have taken his career into a downward spiral....he should have worked in ott movies during the pandemic (2020-2021) to stay relevant.....but people didn't want to cast him as he was being considered as this uncontrollable,entitled brat by the producers.....Shane was acting like Justin Bieber in his teens....Both struggled to handle their fame....Shane has changed completely now....looks like he has undergone some kind of grooming or something...take a look at his 2021 Red FM Red Carpet and his 2019 interview on the same channel.....dude looks like his soul was REPLACED completely...... I think the main reason we don't see such all rounder "star actors" in Malayalam is because, unlike Tamil and Telugu industries, stardom is still a relatively new concept in Kerala...and I would say that until the last decade or so it only applied to a handful of people at any given time and more often just 1 or 2. There might have been many known faces but possessing a loyal fan following which is enough to make a film succeed was and still is a rarity. Most Malayalam films need to be accepted by the general audience in order to succeed, that isnt neccesarily the case in other languages.

Gone are the days when people thronged theatres to watch their favourite stars. If people are watching Thallumaala twice, it’s not because of Tovino but for the crew. Look at how Khalid Rahman and Muhsin Parari is perceived after the release of Thallumaala. That’s the direction in which a cinema industry should shift. If the Govt provide the right support, our movies could reach international audience. With RRR’s budget, we can make fifty movies. I usually find Kok to be pretty intelligent but this video looks like something he made without thinking too much

I can understand his opinion on having actors who can do extreme characters. Today, I would say that only Fahaddh can do a complete psycho role. Joji, Trance, and Kumbalangi Nights are prime examples of this. Coming to big-budget and pan-India films, I disagree entirely. PAN-INDIA AND BIG-BUDGET FILMS ARE NOT THE WORK OF THE ACTORS. Yes, actors are a crucial factor, but in most cases, the directorial brilliance of the movie attracts the audience. It is the overall experience. Take RRR for example. It is a mediocre story with the lead characters enacted by mediocre actors (they have huge fan bases but from an acting perspective, they are not as skilled as many of our Malayalam actors). And people know this as well. The reason why so many people liked RRR (I have never watched it because never felt like watching a grand movie since the Bahubali series), is because of the overall experience. Not because Ram Charan and Jr. NTR are brilliant actors. Yes, most of the actors in Malayalam are not avid dancers. But, at the end of the day, which Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, or Kannada actor (except for actors like Dhanush, Rishab Shetty, and a few others) can portray the central character in the following movies: 1. Fahadh Faasil - Joji, Trance, Malik, and Kumbalangi Nights. 2. Mohanlal - Vanaprastham, Kireedam, Chritram, and many more. (Chiranjeevi tried doing a mass-masala role which did not require so much skill level as an actor in Godfather - the Lucifer remake- and was not able to pull it off.) 3. Prithviraj - Kuruthi, Vastavam, Ayyappanum Koshiym, Jana Gana Mana. (Aadujeevitham looks promising after the trailer release) 4. Mammootty - Vatsalyam, Madhilukal, Paleri Manikyam, and many more. Even our non-mainstream actors like Joju George (in Iratta, Nayattu, Joseph, Porinju Mariyam Jose)and Soubin Shahir (Ila Veezha Poonchira) and Suraj (Android Kunjappan, Vikrithi, Driving License, and many more) are able to pull off iconic characters. You're missing the point entirely. Ram Charan and Jr NTR were chosen for those roles because they could pull it off. If the actors didn't matter why was Prabhas not chosen? Or Allu Arjun? In my opinion actors are very very important in commercial movies. Also you're talking about the strengths and genuine acting skills of Malayalam actors. Nobody is questioning that here. Everyone knows that we have excellent actors. Just like you said no one from Telugu could pull off these characters, it's very clear that we do not have any actors who can do well in a movie like RRR or Bahubali.

Malayalam cinema may not have a complete youth actor like you said like from Tamil or Telugu films but it's about how we overcome those hurdles in ways we can to make our films just as good or better than films produced in other industries, with our screenplay, directions and acting etc. I mean acting is not just looking good or being able to do a mass scene or dance right. Our cinema compensates for those shortcomings and work with the actors strengths in making an engaging movie for us plus everyone is improving, you might have to make another video later on embracing how far our actors have come in a few years time 😎

There's some thing called audience's taste. Here in malayalam it's different from other indian industries. There, audience are always behind so called packaged movies and less interested in content oriented ones. And here malayali audience are always interested in watching content oriented movies than packaged ones. This is an industry where movies like Sudani from Nigeria was a hit! Which we can't imagine in any other indian states.
Well you can't judge iranian movies or korean by comparing to hollywood movies right? Same logic should be applied to malayalam also. Here even commercial movies happens in our own style, rest other indian industries goes behind format ones. Here everything's different. In short, sarvakalavallabhan stars similar to other industries are never a requirement in this industry and hence they never going to happen!

Except physical structure, Mohanlal was and is doing his maximum to recreate such movies. Mammootty always added youngsters to fill the dance, romance, fun gaps. Dileep tried his best to create package movies after reaching his stardom. I had your same thought in early 2000, when I saw old actors doing romance with young actresses, doing fight and trying to do dance mimics, kunchakko boban and dileep were only young actors atleast survived. With the entry of Prithviraj with Vellithira, Swapnakoodu, Sathyam, Vargam, Vasthavam and Classmates, it was a great relief to a commercial movie fan like me upto some extend and still he remains the best choice among the league of Malayalam next gen actors reviewed by u, even after 20yrs. Urumi was such a try. Kaduva will be such a movie.

Man....I love this dudes videos.....his brutal honesty without being very loud is just really engaging.....whatever he has discussed in the video is 100% right.....I had been thinking about this for a long time....the so called youth icons we have in malayalam are literally dudes in their 30s.....yeah....youth icons of the other industries that he is talking about are also in their 30's....what we had was Shane Nigam who was getting roles consistently till 2019 but his shenanigans have taken his career into a downward spiral....he should have worked in ott movies during the pandemic (2020-2021) to stay relevant.....but people didn't want to cast him as he was being considered as this uncontrollable,entitled brat by the producers.....Shane was acting like Justin Bieber in his teens....Both struggled to handle their fame....Shane has changed completely now....looks like he has undergone some kind of grooming or something...take a look at his 2021 Red FM Red Carpet and his 2019 interview on the same channel.....dude looks like his soul was REPLACED completely......
In order to see a full package actor about whom he is talking in the video......there should be a producer who is ready to take the risk to Launch someone like that.....hopefully we could see soemone in the coming future.

I think the main reason we don't see such all rounder "star actors" in Malayalam is because, unlike Tamil and Telugu industries, stardom is still a relatively new concept in Kerala...and I would say that until the last decade or so it only applied to a handful of people at any given time and more often just 1 or 2. There might have been many known faces but possessing a loyal fan following which is enough to make a film succeed was and still is a rarity. Most Malayalam films need to be accepted by the general audience in order to succeed, that isnt neccesarily the case in other languages.

So their actors are also trained that way - extreme physique, high agility, and flexible dance moves. Whereas Malayalam industry is totally different. Also going by your logic, one can say since Marlon Brando can't dance, he is not a complete actor lol

Look at how Khalid Rahman and Muhsin Parari is perceived after the release of Thallumaala. That’s the direction in which a cinema industry should shift.
If the Govt provide the right support, our movies could reach international audience. With RRR’s budget, we can make fifty movies.

there can be a drastic change in these actors. We just need a director like Prithviraj and how he had the imagination of making a movie like Lucifer. And kok was right Mohanlal is the only right actor at the moment who could fit as a package but he's too old for that. He said Prithviraj has drawbacks but if you look at aadujeevitham, it would be a big turning point of his career and malayalam film industry.

I can understand his opinion on having actors who can do extreme characters. Today, I would say that only Fahaddh can do a complete psycho role. Joji, Trance, and Kumbalangi Nights are prime examples of this.
Coming to big-budget and pan-India films, I disagree entirely.
PAN-INDIA AND BIG-BUDGET FILMS ARE NOT THE WORK OF THE ACTORS. Yes, actors are a crucial factor, but in most cases, the directorial brilliance of the movie attracts the audience. It is the overall experience. Take RRR for example. It is a mediocre story with the lead characters enacted by mediocre actors (they have huge fan bases but from an acting perspective, they are not as skilled as many of our Malayalam actors). And people know this as well. The reason why so many people liked RRR (I have never watched it because never felt like watching a grand movie since the Bahubali series), is because of the overall experience. Not because Ram Charan and Jr. NTR are brilliant actors. Yes, most of the actors in Malayalam are not avid dancers. But, at the end of the day, which Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, or Kannada actor (except for actors like Dhanush, Rishab Shetty, and a few others) can portray the central character in the following movies:
1. Fahadh Faasil - Joji, Trance, Malik, and Kumbalangi Nights.
2. Mohanlal - Vanaprastham, Kireedam, Chritram, and many more. (Chiranjeevi tried doing a mass-masala role which did not require so much skill level as an actor in Godfather - the Lucifer remake- and was not able to pull it off.)
3. Prithviraj - Kuruthi, Vastavam, Ayyappanum Koshiym, Jana Gana Mana. (Aadujeevitham looks promising after the trailer release)
4. Mammootty - Vatsalyam, Madhilukal, Paleri Manikyam, and many more.
Even our non-mainstream actors like Joju George (in Iratta, Nayattu, Joseph, Porinju Mariyam Jose)and Soubin Shahir (Ila Veezha Poonchira) and Suraj (Android Kunjappan, Vikrithi, Driving License, and many more) are able to pull off iconic characters.
So this video is something that I don't agree with.

You're missing the point entirely. Ram Charan and Jr NTR were chosen for those roles because they could pull it off. If the actors didn't matter why was Prabhas not chosen? Or Allu Arjun?
In my opinion actors are very very important in commercial movies.
Also you're talking about the strengths and genuine acting skills of Malayalam actors. Nobody is questioning that here. Everyone knows that we have excellent actors. Just like you said no one from Telugu could pull off these characters, it's very clear that we do not have any actors who can do well in a movie like RRR or Bahubali.
Which actor in malayalam industry can replace prabhas and rana in bahubali. We lack that kind of actors.
