@@RobRidesCargoBikes shimano have gifted me a few quids worth of stuff in light of my recent win so for old times sake, i wouldn’t mind sending you a set of saint levers in support if you fancy.. would be good to see you get rid of them trp levers 😉
Ah mate, that's too kind! Maybe wait until you see how I treat the bike in the upcoming race videos before offering to buy new parts 😉😉 But really mate, thanks so much for the support!
Yes, it's certainly built to last and is very sturdy - I've seen many Bullitts last years and years! There are electric options for Bullitts, though no full suspension options. You could try looking at a Riese & Müller load if you'd like to checkout a full suspension long john cargo bike though - they have similar proportions to a Bullitt, but also have the full suspension and electric options that you're looking for!
Gotta love them. Im on my second used Bullitt. The last one even more customized butt still need some more upgrades. I only wished it came with a Bosch Cargo Smart motor instead of the 6110 caster one that is on it now. And I could carry much more stuff with my previous Urban Arrow Cargo bike, but I couldn’t put down 10k for my bike and its slightly to high for me.
Yeah it's a huge shame that there aren't industry standard motor mounts for ebikes/cargo bikes that'd allow consumers to switch brands if they wanted. I can't say I've had a problem with the Shimano E6000 motor on my black Bullitt, but I know there are plenty of horror stories of multiple motor swaps within a warranty period from many, many others. Yikes, 10k is a lot for any bike! I got both my Bullitts second-hand so I completely understand the sentiment!
@@RobRidesCargoBikes the ginkgo is awesome. super light and the big front wheel has a very positive effect on the bumps on the road. it rolls so easily over obstacles sweeppber the bullitt and the cargo bikes with small front wheel. only the payload is not like that of bullitt and co. i have a box with airline rails, go more in width than in height.
@@romanknobel7370 Sounds really good! I'll be at the Velo Berlin show next month so hopefully there'll be one there that I can take for a test ride. I like the idea of the bigger wheels rolling better, especially as there are a lot of cobbled streets and bumpy back roads where I ride, and I very rarely go up to the maximum payload of the Bullitt anyway so I don't think I'd miss the 180kg limit. Ah well, I already have 2 cargo bikes, not sure I have room for a third!
Hi Olly, glad you liked the video, thank you! I got the rubber feet from Amazon, though I imagine any place that sells wheelchairs, walkers and zimmerframes etc will have them. You'll need the 25mm tube diameter version, ideally with a metal washer in the bottom so you don't wear through it really quickly.
Hey, love the videos. I’m sold on a Bullit. You bought both yours second hand. I’m new to Europe (spent the last 5 years in China) - do you have any recommendations for where to find second hand Bullits? Thanks for any advice! Tim.
Hi Tim, yes sure, I can give you some tips! After test riding a Bullitt at a local bike show I knew I wanted one so I joined some cargo bike Facebook groups to do some more research and to know what to look out for when buying. I found both of my Bullitts advertised in the Universal Bullitt Owners group on Facebook here: facebook.com/groups/BullittUniversalOwners/ My eBullitt had only been advertised in the group for 10 minutes when I contacted the seller and I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to reserve it as it was a great deal. My Miss Bullitt was advertised by a group admin and was more of a “normal” price so I had time to think about it! There are also a few European based Facebook cargo bike buy/sell groups so worth looking for those if they’re in your country. Another great place to look is whatever your country’s equivalent of online classified ads is. In Germany it’s www.kleinanzeigen.de (formerly eBay Kleinanzeigen), in the Netherlands it’s www.marktplaats.nl, in Denmark it’s www.dba.dk etc. I’d recommend finding whatever the equivalent is in your country and setting up some saved searches with alerts so you can jump on good deals as soon as they’re advertised. In my experience, the cheaper and best deals are usually in out-of-the-way places, but if you’re able to drive then you can often save a lot even when factoring in fuel prices. Good luck in your search, keep me updated!
Hey! Thanks, it's a tip I picked up while checking out a few other Bullitts over the years. I have crutch feet with a 25mm diameter hole, but make sure you get some with a metal washer at the bottom of the hole or you'll wear through them really quick.
Hi Rob, A well put together video and plenty of info. Quick question I'm thinking of doing the North Cape 4000 on a cargo bike just for the shizzz and giggles. what sort of speed can you maintain on that rig? 20+ KPH or is that a tad rich. Keep smiling JB
Thanks for the compliments, much appreciated 😄 Wow, the North Cape 4000 would be a huge achievement on any bike, let alone a cargo bike! Good luck! Average speed is obviously highly dependant on load, but when it's empty, a sustained 28-30kph is doable on a still day. Once I start putting kids or other heavier things in then I'm down to mid-to-low 20's, though also bear in mind that my average journey is probably between 5-10km on flat routes, and nowhere near 4000km! Let me know if you need a place to camp in Berlin during the North Cape 4000 💪
@@RobRidesCargoBikes cheers Rob, you are a total legend. May take the plunge and head to Copenhagen to test ride the Omnium and the Bullitt. I'm thinking frame set then build up with a few carbon bits. The load will be fairly light. If I time Berlin at a good time I'll help with your race diet. (Beer & Pizza) 😉
@@jamesbicknell4706 Is there ever a bad time for beer and pizza? 😉 I imagine you're probably already aware of Allan Shaw who did the Silk Road Mountain Race on an Omnium last year, may be worth checking out his setup if you're also looking at Omniums. I've also noticed an increasing trend of folk doing longer journeys on GinkGo cargo bikes. The bigger wheels will no doubt roll better than the smaller wheels of most other frontloading cargo bikes, so possibly another avenue to consider!
I did look at the Ti Omnium but it's a tad rich and long waiting queue. But the Bullitt is starting to get under my skin. With a carbon steeper and possibly a ti steering rod......
@@jamesbicknell4706 I totally understand the Bullitt getting under your skin! I'm not sure how easy it'd be to get your hands on a Ti steering rod, though this video would likely be your best bet: th-cam.com/video/RFRAi5Yze2c/w-d-xo.html Ittai used to post on some Bullitt owners groups and did a couple of limited runs of the Ti steering arms, but then he stopped posting and that video was the first time I'd seen him pop up for a while. I'd love one also, but am not really in a position to be chasing marginal gains on a cargo bike at the moment!
Yes, they are expensive for sure. I can only recommend scouring marketplaces and setting alerts, that's how I got both of mine for a (relatively) good price 👍
I found this one in the Bullitt Universal Owners group on Facebook, and there is also a Bullitt Buy/Sell group on Facebook. I've seen quite a few adverts from www.dba.dk/ for used Bullitts in Denmark, and there are a few used Bullitts on www.marktplaats.nl/ in the Netherlands.
Honestly, I've never had a problem with wobbles/head shakes on this bike. Perhaps I'm just lucky, but it's very flat here and I rarely get over 35kph so also not really much chance of a potential speed wobble situation really. I do have a spare steering damper in my parts bin, but the Viscoset looks like a really clean solution if I ever need to go down that route.
@@markifi Thank you! That is very true, they are undeniably expensive. There are deals to be had out there but you have to be quick and have to already be scouring marketplaces and owners groups to get the very best deals.
