@@Thee_Mack it's all about Rick not implementing any way of control of the situation. He probably did all of this pickle shenanigans in one minute after he remembered about this therapy. He didn't even hide the syringe or programmed any security measures in case he would be moved by Beth or Morty.
If anything, it was extremely lucky Beth took the syringe, because otherwise, it would have fallen on nothing, and most likely would have broken or wasted it's pressious liquid on the table, depending on its structural integrity. Then Rick would have been PROPER screwed, since he just barely managed to survive long enough to give himself a sort-of body and get to therapy, and then he would have had to also get home and whip up an antidote before Jackal's wound finished him off.

I actually understood this first time. I’m kinda smart for 13 so idk but basically anybody would do this because they couldn’t normally. For example, humans cannot not sleep after a while, but if you could not sleep and be okay, people would do it not just because it’d be kinda cool and you’d have time to play video games or study but because you’re not supposed to be able to do that. I love that Beth can't stomach outright owning her annoyance with her father in this scene, but has no problems taking it out on him nonverbally by taking the syringe that everyone knows is set up to restore him to human form. Passive aggression at it's finest.
One of my favorite little tidbits about this is that Beth clearly looks up and sees the anti-pickle contraption before Morty calls it out. And still chooses to insist the kids get in the car.
