The way Viggo said "Oh" matches the letter O, rather than saying like "Oh?" or "Ohhhh". This alone shows not only Viggo forgives Aurelio for punching his son in the face, but also in his head, he know his son had poked a bear that he suppose not to poke and both of them are doomed. Very powerful scene.

Other way around, I think. Iosef is the boss' son and theoretically the future boss, Aurelio just runs one small part of the company. Iosef is way higher on the totem pole than Aurelio.
But Iosef is also the new guy, who may have more authority in theory but doesn't know what the hell he's doing yet. Whereas Aurelio is that employee who's been with the company forever and is really good at his job, so even the CEO sits up and listens when he talks.
The dynamic isn't "I'm management and you're staff," it's "I'm the guy who knows where the bodies are buried, you're the guy who still gets lost on his way to the bathroom."

Aurelio told John everything without lies or hesitation. John was satisfied that Aurelio had no part, accepted the drink, and asked for a car. Until that point John would have killed Aurelio. Taking the drink showed that they were ok.

      @Nardrasil 2 ปีที่แล้ว +132

The thing i like the most is aurelio's position.
      - Works for Viggo
      - John trust him with a drink and sits with him despite being on revenge mode
      - Probably gave Theon a little more time before dying by making him leave
      - Punches Theon knowing full well that, John Wick or not, Viggo could still make him pay.
      - Cooperates with John as soon as he comes in
      - Has an unspoken understanding with Viggo that punching his son didn't even matter, and asking for apologies would be a waste of time at this point.
I don't like action movies in general but the mythos they build around John and how the characters interact with him is so great. Jimmy the cop, waste disposal guy, Aurelio, Francis, the hotel host, the barmaid, and that old great actor that i always forget the name.
I talk too much but had to dump this somewhere.

Or like a paltry sum of cash or something. Society demands that he take “retribution” for his son but the circumstances are such that actually harming Aurelio for it would be completely uncalled for.
I’d also love to see the alternate universe where John got up to use the bathroom just before Iosef broke in and so isn’t caught by surprise. One fight later the three idiots are on the floor. He ties them up, puts him in his basement, checks their IDs and sees they’re connected to Viggo, and gives Viggo a call.

Exactly! If the gang killed John after killing his dog, Aurelio probably wouldn't be so livid. He probably just say that "you just brushed off death REALLY close there". The same goes if they only stole John's car while leaving John and his dog alive (maybe Viggo can make a big apology and compensate John afterwards).
Once he heard what they did and John is still alive, he knows all Iosef did is provoking Death incarnation itself to descend upon them all.

While I do like all of the John Wick movies, they really started to go too over the top after the second one. The first two felt grounded with a bit of mystery surrounding this society of assassins that you were really invested in, especially the first film. There was loads of action for sure, but there was also character development like the famous speech Vigo gives about John and why he is so terrifying. We stopped getting that in 3 and 4 and I think it was to the franchise's detriment. The action is great in all of them, but you can really feel how much they were trying to one-up the last movie and doing so didn't really benefit the films. While I'm glad I watched the other three in the series, I do think John Wick would have been a much more potent film as a stand-alone instead of becoming a franchise.

4 felt a bit over the top for me, with everyone having armored clothing and using it like a shield all the time, especially John. I appreciate Keanu is getting older and might not be physically able to do the more demanding stuff that doesn't go into stuntman territory, but I wish they'd gone a different route. Constantly using the armored suit as a crutch felt like it was taking away from his ability as a master assassin and gun fighter. I still enjoyed the movie, but that facet of it really kind of stuck out for me. In the first movie it really showed how why he was so revered in his circles while still allowing him to not be 100% perfect. I really don't think any of the other three movies were able to top it.

    • @9unslin9er
