- How to Diagnose & Repair a Weed Trimmer that Won't Start or Run. This weed eater trimmer came in and the owner wasn't sure what was wrong with it but said it would not start or run.
In this video I will walk you through the process I took to diagnose and fix the problem it had. In the end it had a fuel problem because the fuel lines were rotten and leaking and fuel was not getting to the carburetor. You will see how to install new fuel lines, a new fuel filter and adjusting the carburetor so this string trimmer will run at peak performance.

I'm not sure if my problem is the same but that dude is really good at explaining things
We have Husqvarna. We might be able to get it started, but it won’t run unless the choke is wide open. Thank you for this video. We were told it couldn’t be fixed.
The main thing I took away from this is your excitement for your hemostat lol. Great when we find that tool that makes projects easier. And we want to share. I'll be getting one soon lol
It sure has been a big help so many times
Overall good troubleshooting.
However, with all the bad fuel lines, I would have also replaced the purge bulb. That will be the next likely fuel item to need replacing. Cheap and easy to get to.

Just had one of these Give to me ,I will take a look at it ,as you did this one good chance it will run again too after watching you with this one.
I ended up replacing carb and the fuel lines. I am now using the Husqvarna 95 octane fuel. Works great. I was using regular gas and mixing the oil. I think it hurt the engine. Replacing all of that was worth the money.
Great job .inspired the weak and humble
Cleaned the air filter and it worked again STIHL Weethacker or wheat eater. Thanks the video really helped
Great to hear!
Excellent video, lots of good intricate tips and tricks. Going out to work on my weed eater shortly!

Thanks a million. 👍
Beautiful, dude!
Thanks
Good video, thank you.
Thank you too!
The fule lines went on mine to but was a easy repair you don’t need to take off the carb just use fine tipped needle nose, pliers
Thinking the same
Well done sir.
Thank you
Fuel lines of the old Husky 223L I was given fell apart too, carb covered in old sticky fuel. Mine had rubber grommets for fuel lines to and from tank crumbled too. Old fuel, age and Texas heat no doubt. Thank you, your explanations and great video super helpful! It would help to know what you listening for as adjust carb
Highest idle speed on the low side adjustment and same on the high side but after I get the highest speed on the high side I open the screw about 1/4 turn (counter clockwise) so it runs a little on the rich side to lubricate the cylinder... I have a video on how to adjust properly

thanks it fixed mine !!!
Great!
Boy I prolly pulled mine 35 times before I stopped lol you’re smarter than me
God bless you Brother in the Name of JesusChrist . Really simple but really helpful video can't wait to go to tune-up my trimmers
Glad I could help & God Bless you also!
Amen brother
Bro, I have the same model and I could tell you I had it over 10 years and I use it at least once a week and it’s still going if it ever blows its death worth rebuilding
THANK YOU i think that is what is wrong with mine.
That was pro. thanks!
Glad it helped!

Welcome and thanks
Use only ethanol free gas on any engine with a carburetor. First the alcohol with draw moisture into the fuel and second alcohol attacks all the plastic and rubber parts. I have a husky 128ld 16 years now with original carb and fuel lines. In fact the cylinder and piston are wore out, going to replace them and keep on keeping on.
This video is helpful but am having different issues
Need to take the carb apart and clean it no telling how long it ran without the fuel filter might have trash in the screen before putting the carb back on but that's just me. It was a great video
I would have cleaned carb too since you have it off anyway
I'd have taken the carb apart as well. I like his videos but sometimes it seems like he cuts corners? Other than that he does good videos and great work on fixing equipment
Ever heard the saying if it ain’t broke don’t fix it??🤷🏼♀️😂😂
@@tuwannarico ever heard of preventive maintance so you don't have to do it twice👍👍
It’s the first time I’ve seen a repair vidin which was first class
Good running machine then split primer bulb replaced while doing so i split the return line replaced now wont run at all i have spark and fuel and im about ready to smash this thing first ill try starting with a drill
Can you tell me witch way does the head turns clockwise or counterclockwise
thanks
You're welcome!
Mine was temperamental. When it worked, it worked. But too much inconsistency for me, so I upgraded to a 4-stroke Honda... and never looked back.
Every year, it's nothing to look fwd to, Husqvarna is the best when running, but its inconsistent,
My 3rd one. I don't have time.
i'm here after replacing the RCJ8Y spark plug to get my 128LD up and running again for this year. worked great yesterday. today, it won't even start. it's baffling.
Is good help to fix my weed eater only one thing is how to adjust the carburettor turn cook wire ?? Please help😊
never knew you only use 2 cycle I'll make sure to tell my buddies this, most of em just use regluar gas
You do use regular gas.... just mix it with 2 stroke oil to the correct proportions
He said GOD gave it to him. That is the introduction that I heard. If so, that makes all the difference for its restoration.
Can you show which fuel hose goes to which nippel on the carb?
Any videos or tips on adjusting the Highs and Lows?
This should help... th-cam.com/video/dv_P1Zz7dR0/w-d-xo.html
...the low side adjustment screw is typically closest to the engine (if you are not sure which screw is for which side).
@@helpinguonline Thank you so much. Was able to do a full replacement of the fuel lines and tune it to stop the oscillation.
Helping u online Do you work on Echo outdoor power equipment
My son put the wrong mix in the fuel tank for this exact trimmer. Would you recommend cleaning or replacing the tank? It was never ran with incorrect fuel, I caught it before he got a chance.
Just drain out the bad fuel from the tank and refill it with the correct mix Of two cycle oil and gas. You are wise not to have run it with the wrong fuel in it… Especially when somebody puts straight gas in a two cycle engine… It will ruin the engine. Keep up the good work!
@@helpinguonline drain it out??? Tip it upside down? Syphon it, how?
if you mean how to get it out of the carburetor... after you removed the fuel from the tank (take the cap off and dump it out) you can press the primer bulb and that will run the old fuel out of the carb and pull in the new fuel that is properly mixed. that little bit won't hurt anything.
I’ve got the same one but my choke won’t stay. When trying to put it on full or half choke- it just flips back. ????
Mines doing the same thing. Imma check the fuel lines in the morning
Can't believe you didn't address the primer bulb, since the gas lines needed to be replaced that bulb sure isn't far behind.
How would u unclogged the fuel line
you mind if I ask, why you dont put 2T oil in your fuel?
10:32 50:1 Gas + 2T oil is mixed in fuel tank already. Husqvarna 2T oil gives the mixed fuel a bluish color. Pure Gasoline (petrol) is colorless.
HOW COME MY 128LD HAVE NEW CARB KIT N STILL WONT STAY ON ??
My weed Wacker string keeps coming out of 1 of the feeder holes. It has 2 feeder holes. Any idea how to fix?
Do you mean only one hole has line and the other one doesn't come out?... if so sounds like you are winding the string around the spool wrong.
@@helpinguonline you have to feed each hole with a 8inch string. One of the holes the string keeps coming out.
Need help, I have a 128cd, I changed the piston, put a new carb, new filter, new spark, new fuel lines. It wont start, spark is ok. What could it be?
Without being able to look at it… If you have spark my guess would be a fuel problem. Maybe one of these videos will give you an idea of something to consider that you haven’t already?.

Let us know what you finally figure out
Where can you get these fuel lines? Abd what size was yours?
You can buy a variety pack of fuel lines for a little over five dollars on eBay that should take care of most all your 2 cycle small engine equipment
How do you know if your machine is flooded and if so how do you fix the problem
No start… Smell gas… Air filter gets wet with gas… If you take the spark plug out it will be soaked in gas. The way to get it started without doing too much is pull it full throttle with the choke on and it may start otherwise you can pull the spark plug out and dry it and put it back in
I have one like this and it also wouldn't start last year. I am not a fan of this machine. In my opinion it is way too powerful as a weed whacker. If I get it too close to my vinyl siding it will tear the crap out of it. I know people will say, "well, don't let it get close". Sometimes it isn't that easy. So, I just gave up on it and I will get a cheap electric on.
if there's a dip stick somewhere on your engine do not use oil in your gas because its a 4 stroke
Its 2 stroke not 4
This is a 2
You can have an oil system on a 2 stroke... Lots of snowmobiles, lawnmowers and other 2 stroke engines have oil systems.
Hey I got Husqvarna 122 c and put wrong fuel and now it’s hard start and always of if I press the speed it’s frustrated
Me too, same one, 122c. Did the same...
When you say you put the wrong fuel in it what do you mean? What exactly did you put in it?
what did you put in it?
@@helpinguonline😊
What size are the fuel lines?
Need new carb gasket also.
primer bulb would have filled up if you had used it!
You didn't say how to know which hose goes where on the carb.
goes back on same way it came apart
If you put to much oil in the gas it will not start
Tubes of none pe matriale ending like that..
Husqvarna Bush Wacker... I have a heavy duty Husqvama Bush Wacker and I'll NEVER purchase anything made by Husqvama again!!! It was difficult to start from day one. I've had it for about 4 yrs. now and have already had to replace the carburetor (the 3rd yr.). Now, less than a yr. later, it won't stay running unless I have the choke on halfway. I don't even like the way that the design of the Bush Wacker's body, because if you set it down to refill the fuel tank, due to the base design, it falls over to the side. My first heavy duty Bush Wacker was purchased from SEARS. It Was made in China, but it lasted over 25 yrs. Now I feel like taking this Expensive piece of Crap and running over it with my 1 ton truck and sending it to Husqvarna's Head office...!
buy 2 carburetors, one for this year and one for next year.
I agree with You !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just use non efhanol gas with Amxoil Sabre oil, it also has stabilizer in it,
I add a few drops of marvel’s mystery oil to about every other tank of gas , never had any problems with carb or lines going on 8 yrs with my sthil trimmer
Sería bueno que subtitulen o que haya opciones a otros idiomas para entender mejor ya que no todos hablamos ingles , gracias
He's an English speaker. If you want Spanish, find a video in Spanish.
Made a adjustment to the high bit didn't mention it. Why talk about the tools etc.
Idle to high
my weed wacker only runs on choke. will not at high
It may be something real simple like a clogged fuel filter, cracked fuel line or it may be a little move involved like a clogged carburetor.
To prevent this in the future be sure to always drain all your fuel out of the tank and run your weed trimmer til the gas is out of the carburetor when storing.
If your carburetor is clogged you can clean it. Here is a video for you on that:
th-cam.com/video/MtggiZf_x-4/w-d-xo.html
God Bless you and lead you! Let us know what you find out.
I did all of these things. I even bought a carb rebuild kit and new spark plugs and mine still wont start🤬🤬
Did you find the problem?
No I didn't.
Same
You sound like a doctor. Are you a doctor?
The two-cycle gas trimmer has wayhayhay too many parts involved to simply trim grass. Piss poor design. I'm goin' electric.
Fuel lines are such garbage
You are absolutely right, poor lines, but the gas dissolves that plastic after time. Might be a good idea to take the gas out if you're NOT going to use it for awhile.
It’s not possible to know exactly what you’re doing because you often refer to the part as “this” and the camera isn’t close enough to show any detail
Thanks for posting anyway. .
what screwdriver 🪛 did you use to open it ?
