In this video i continue to investigate the cause of the CBR`s lumpy idle, I check the idle / pilot circuit again and also test the exhaust gas temperatures for each cylinder. Hope you enjoy
I don't think you can get around fully disassembling the bank of carbs if the bike has seen storage with fuel in the carbs. Those little idle circuits gum up even a bit and the idle is ruined and you will even see some hanging/floating of revs when you rev it. Separate each carb from the bank, remove the parts in the float bowl (needles, jets), remove the CV boots and slide, anything rubber, then soak the carb body in one of those gallon paint type cans of carb cleaner with the little metal cleaning basket in it. It says on can how long to soak it on the can (40minutes?). The cleaner will eat anything rubber or plastic, along with fuel residue. Reassemble and set everything to stock, maybe an 1/8 turn richer idle, then it will idle great.
My bike has some “bogging” issues any gear after 3d and any rpm after 6k it just falls on its face. Power is smooth as long as you’re under 3d gear, and under 60mph. Thinking it’s maybe there fuel pump relay? The previous own jumped it/bypassed it. Any idea ?
Hi there if there bogging at 6k rpm plus u be on ur needle jet range, sounds like u need more or less fuel. Has the bike been modified? If yes sounds like u need shim ur needle jet to get more fuel. Assuming you bike is a carby like mine
@@callytech.d2r813 yes the bike is carborated, it hasn’t been modified. Iv actually traced down the problem (hopefully) I believe it’s either a bad fuel pump or bad fuel pump relay. Apparently the bike is gravity fed gas until you hit a certain speed or rpm is only when the fuel pump kicks on and calls for more gas. My theory is, it’s needing more gas but doesn’t get it so it just falls on its face when it gets to that point. But if that isn’t the issue I’ll check the positioning needle and go through the carbs
My cbr 600 shuts off at idle at every red light while at normal running temperature. I changed the spark plug and new oil but same problem. Any suggestion?

Great video man I appreciate it
Interesting….I wonder if the carbs were looked at when the aftermarket exhaust were fit! Just a thought. Keep up the good work. d2R
You'll work it out cal

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me mate, check all the vacuum lines In around the carbs and airbox
@@callytech.d2r813 thank you buddy I'll check it out and let you know
What would you look for it it sputters
I would check the basics
Check for vac leaks
Check the carbs are clean and jets are clear
Check carb sync
