Low is such a underrated album and I would put this solo in my top 10 greatest of all time! Excellent cover , it ain't easy to play the legato of one James Murphy!
Dude I don't care what anyone says that was perfect IMHO! Everything was accurate and you had all of the fingerings right!!! You also displayed an extreme amount of control over your guitar as well as feeling and grove as you were pulling it all off!
So I don't really know James Murphy other than he was in Death....and played on this album. I really liked Low altogether, but this solo is amazing. So damn fluid, and you did a great job here. Was listening to Testament, and wanted to hear that specific solo, so came looking to see if there is a version of him doing it live. You did this justice my friend. Awesome job.
hey man.....you are really good.....and you're playing very musically.....and that's what count's.....not shredding and all that speed......you proove yourself in a lot of moments.......really good stuff........testament rules........!!!!
@donlonton253 I noticed it was in the key of E. Did you speed up the recording to change the key from D to E or was it a recorded backing track? It can be harder to shred to a slower beat and stay on cue but you pulled it off flawlessly. Speed requires skill but it can mask mistakes as long as you play in the right mode.
@donlonton253 There is a tab book? Man I want one. I just can't get some of those techniques he uses down, like the fast paced picking up the neck, it stumps me. How does one just go, "I am going to destroy the frets like this, and melt some faces here, done"
Hi Donlonton! Do you know whats going on with James Murphy? We dont hear nothing about him anymore. I think he was sick 2-3 years ago? Too bad, he is one of my favorite guitar player.
James Murphy played the EMG-85 in the bridge and either a EMG-89 in the neck or a EMG-SA in the neck if it's a single coil. Eric Peterson has always gone between EMG-81 in the bridge and a EMG-85 in the neck or a Seymour Duncan JB/'59 set. On "Formations of Damnation" he used a DiMarzio Super Distortion. I believe James Murphy as since switched to the EMG-57 in the bridge and a EMG-SLV in the neck. Not sure what he's using as a humbucker in the neck now.
very well done 😎
Close enough sir?
Murphy 😮
