💯👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💯
You keep saying, "He", I have 3, serious questions. Do you really think she is a boy? Does it matter? Are you intentionally misgendering this person? You are the best. I am just acknowledging that this is a serious faux pas. I try to watch all your content. You are amazing, TY!!!
@@avelinomike Charles is going back and forth between He and She depending on whether he’s talking about the arranger of the song (male) vs what the performer is doing (female). They’re two different people. Watch from 0:48 for clarity.
Kinga is an absolute legend. Good on you for featuring her on the channel.
This one made me cry when I first saw it years ago. My best friend had just passed and we jammed a lot together. This really reminded of him.
Good luck on tour & thanks for featuring Kinga…
Greetings from 🇵🇱 Poland 😊 Nice to see U jamnin' together
Brilliant content Charles
Congrats on the convivial and mega-chilled Beato interview
It's a very cool arrangement! I am so glad you reacted to this because otherwise, I wouldn't have known about this version; Kinga has a nice style!
I've played this vid many times but didn't know it was written by Jeff Berlin.
Not enough people know about either Jeff or Kinga
The jazz bassist covering the original song's internal monologue: "Skibbidy-doodaah, duh doo-dee-doo-dee doh doh, mah kid is deeeeeead doopity doop-doop, dabble dab dab!"
OMG I didn't catch this at first, but you're right. The tone of the solo doesn't match the original's lyrical content at all.
I still enjoyed it, but it is kind of funny.
Jeff Berlin is one of my all time bass heroes!❤
"Is 3 basses enough?" may be the most rhetorical question I've ever heard. Particularly from someone that played in a stadium with like 500 bassists.
You make a bass do what a lead usually does. Sounds like heaven.
Sounds like tears in heaven
That sounds beautiful!
Charles! I absolutely LOVE your whole vibe. You're an eager teacher and learner of all things bass guitar. You shine spotlights on other like minded bass players, you applaud what they do, you are open to learning what they do, and that takes a big heart and an open mind. Well done and thank you.
Love Kinga Głyk's playing. Incidentally, "ł" in Polish is pronounced like a "w", so her surname is pronounced "Gwik". (Polish currency is the "złoty", pronounced "zwotty".)
Even "Gwk".
Damn, then I've been pronouncing her name wrong for years. Thanks for the info!
but Głyk comes from German glück, which means "luck".
Ty for the insight. I've been a fan of Kinga's playing for maybe 7 years or so and every time I've said her name, I've mispronounced the ł. Even after hearing her name spoken by her, it sounded like they were saying the equivalent of Glick and not Gwick.
It's a trip how convincingly your mind can alter your perception.
Thanks again.
whisky - G(wh)yk ;-)
Basses LOADED ! Home run , you all hit it out of the park !
I'm really liking the technical analysis. Thanks
I remember when I stumbled upon this video by Kinga. I was dumbfounded. She plays with so much feel. One of my very favorite bass pieces.
Crazy, just found her channel last night.
She's the bomb, thanks.
Stay safe.Peace
Great video as always, really like this new video format!
Doing more reactions, specifically fan bass reactions like you used to, would be great to see! I’m just one person, but maybe other people would feel the same. Seeing a great bassist and personality like you break things down is always fun
Kinga has one of the best bass tones ever
It's typical Jazz Bass sound with vert low action 😁
Huge Kinga fan here. Thanks for this!
Halleluja! Somebody reacts to my favourite basspiece. Waited years for this! Thanks!
Two of my favourite bassists in the same video! Many thanks to both of you. Blessings.
I love listening to Kinga Glyk
Great arrangement, Kinga is just amazing, she blows my mind every time.
Kinga Glyk's albums are some of my all time favorites
Yess! I love this Kinga video a lot, too! ❤
Thanks for getting deeper into it! 😊
Kinga! Wow! Such lyrical and effortless bass playing (effortless in appearance, she's obviously spent 10,000+ hours learning) that is such a joy to listen to. It's so inspiring to listen to musicians who are continually pushing the envelope of what a human can imagine and play and she is absolutely exceptional.
That play along looks and sound super cool :)
I've never seen Kinga before but wow!
Love it! What a great cover! Thanks for that Charles, it put a smile on my face!
Rick has tutored Charles immaculately. I'm glad that he has incorporated this format in to his channel. All the best.
I love that fact that it's flashy but not overdone 👏👏👏👍
Long time subscriber here! 😊
A very warm welcome to Stockholm in January!!☃️PLEASE do this solo when you come!!
Thanks, Charles. That was all I needed to know!
This is what got Kinga on the map. She has issued serval wonderful albums.
No me canso de escucharte😊
I had never heard of Jeff or Kinga, so I'm glad you did this video. Great arrangement on this song. I'm always amazed at players like you and Kinga {and Victor, who I've seen in concert many times} and your ability to turn the instrument into something really special.
Loved the multiple bass sound character, with the differing tonalities. Worked well.
awesome! So glad to see another video in this series 👍
Thanks CB ❤ I found her youtube and subscribed. Keep up the good work 🎉
Wow, depth, depth, depth; when you describe it I FEEL like I understand it, thank you! You DO AND TEACH; so you break the ideom "those who do can, those who can't teach".
Kinga Glyk is a phenomenal player. She has a evolved into a very versatile and very soulful player, I hope to see her play live sometime.
I watched the solo so many times 🥰 Kinga is fenamonous 😮
Or fem-ominal "coined"? Ha-ha, I enjoyed your comment!
One of the my all time favourite on bass, Kinga is amazing!!!
I really enjoy your videos! Your fave expresses the soul of bass notes! Keep up the great work!
Wow, you are both wonderful artists. Thank you 🙏
Exceptional bass player AND you’re a fantastic teacher and reviewer! Well done Charles!
You should try playing double bass repertoire on bass guitar such as bottesinis 2nd concerto, koussevitsky concerto, or something like that
Loved this!! Thanks for explaining this music!
But we need more bass!!
There’s never enough basses.
I saw her on tour earlier this year, absolutely incredible.
I mean, you can’t mess up this song for starters. But she’s amazing and plays with a ton of passion. Thanks for sharing!
Kinga is amazing. I saw her in Oslo and she rocked hard! Looking forward to seeing you and Bernt there Charles :)
Thanks Charles!
I discovered her maybe 5 years ago via a friend who was in Poland. Just love her! Her style, according to me, is similar to Tal Wilnenfeld, in that they both are very "melodic" when they play rather then kind of rhythmic. Not sure how old she is, but I don't think she is 30 yet. Wish she would come to the US to play! She is more into jazz, but does do some funk.
Damn that hits so good.
This solo introduced me to Kynga…but I only today learned that it’s Berlin’s arrangement…Jeff’s my 2nd favorite bassist from the old days…
Love Kinga Glyk! 😀
She is AMAZING! Love it. Jeff Berlin is full of himself but yeah.. he's amazing. So there is that. lol
Two really great bass players ❤ Kinga is amazing 🥰
Good
👏🏻🥈
@@CharlesBerthoudhey Charles, what is it with women guitar and bass players and their seating/playing positions? I don’t know how she can play so well while sitting Indian style on the floor? It’s something you just never see men doing, or is it just me? Can you sit like her and still hit the notes?
@@alphagt62 this is maybe controversial, but sitting cross legged is actually not a gendered way to sit down.
@@kylezo I realize that, but I’m talking about while playing guitar or bass. I see many women who are very talented on their instruments, sitting in odd positions, not just cross legged. While most, (if not all) men I see in videos are either standing or sitting in an armless chair.
Kingas version of “Wake me up” always cheers me up, hot tip everybody!
It’s always fun to see my favourite female bassist getting exposure, Kinga being one of them together with Julia Plays Grow and Mai (Agan) Leisz to name a few - that you all should listen to immediately if you haven’t yet 😄
That’s crazy. I just finished learning the first section of that arrangement and then you make a video on it
Kinga is amazing! Check out her originals too, Joy Joy is an awesome song
Похоже, Чарльз нашел девушку своей Мечты.
Been a a long time hoping for the "BBG" bass supergroup trio to finally do something. . . glad to finally hear the first release from the album
Totally diggin' on the analysis.
Love Kinga
My bass teacher in music school showed me this video when it came out in 2016 because it was the piece he tried to learn himself back then
Still can‘t play it to this day 😅
Such a pretty composition ☺️
it's been so since i've seen this video that i had forgotten how beautiful it is. i've always thought this was her best performance ever, in fact is the only one of her performances i've seen that shows she's an actual next level serious musician like you and others. Charles you remember her video where everybody somehow got sucked into a tv and started dancing in weird costumes, that was a strange video....
Awesome indeed ❤
Kinga is one of the best bass player. I have just been to a concert with her, and talked to her. She is so sweet. (you are also good as well) -:)
Love it! Hope to see you in Montreal one day!
Very hard to learn this as is. Love kinga
One can have never enough basses, anyway three basses gives a nice chorus effect
precious knowlege shown here years and years of listening and practising how charles describe whats going on its pretty insane it can take years to absorb what he tells us in few seconds thank u.
I do agree, three basses isn't enough, so maybe you revisit this as a special sometime and write a counterpoint or a harmony melody to fill it out?
I think that'd be wild.
Love it!
SIR CHARLES, Thank you sooooo much for sharing talented bass players !!! I discovered you from Davie 5. I'm a guitar player (don't hold that against me) and u r helping others to get started like u 😊
Wow such a cool solo thanks for sharing it with us 🎼🎣🎸🥰
absolutely awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!
kinga glyk!!~!~, she's prob my fav bassist of all time hehe
one of the few that makes me feel like she really loves playing ♪
nice to hear the breakdown of her techniques~
Very nice bass by all involved.
Love that new machine of yours Charles.
My guitarist would've used a low note gated EQ on the open strings to lower the level just that tad.
I would've just gone "softer" on the note itself, but I aint fancy like you M8!
Great sustain man, truly impressed by the new machine ...
Kinga Głyk Polska 🇵🇱 this is absolutely amazing guitar bass 🫶
CB videos are the only ones I wish I had more likes to give.
So... do I throw away my bass now or does someone want to take it off my hands
3 Basses is still not enough.... I love it
I know bucket head isn't known for his bass work per se, but his bass lacks are amazing. How about telling/showing us what you think of his bass licks I guess electric umbrella would be a good example
Kinga's a beast. If you haven't seen her play Donna Lee on U-bass, you're missing out
👌🏻 wow...sounds beautiful
Just slap it...😁
im here
Chills
Quite many words while speechless...
My fellow countrywoman ! 👍
She's awesome!
That Bass is bigger than she is!
She plays it amazingly as well! 😊
yeah, I know Kinga
