I'm actually here for all of you other amazing individuals. So I wanted to post the question of how CIG could begin to focus on 1.0 in a more affective way. Let me know your thoughts below!
Lots of bugfixing and polish to the point where 1) 1.0 can be recommended without reservations to people outside of the playerbase and 2) the same goes for subsequent patches. It can't be that 1.0 is stable and as bug-free as possible, and you tell people to try SC out, and then the next patch is again like the patches we've been battling with for years and years.
It depends on their pricing model. If they do free to play, the common consumer will be more tolerant of bugs. They could release earlier. If they’re selling expensive ships to common folk, they will have to offer a PREMIUM experience. No bugs and a near perfect UI.
No point focusing on 1.0 until Dynamic Server Meshing is working as intended. It needs to be stable, seamless, and essentially invisible... then talk of 1.0 can go ahead.
SC development wasn't a rollercoaster. SC development was sitting down in a cool sports car and having the driver get out, try to push it once in a while or draw trees on his tablet and run really fast past your window making vroom noises.
We all need to buy the most expensive ships packages we can to help CIG and Chris Roberts sail this ship home!! It's almost done we just need to hold onto hope!! I told my son I would get him a guitar for his birthday but after this delay I explained to him that he'll get to play this game too one day! So we agreed to wait for next year to start his musical journey and I'll be flying a new Constellation! Onward to 4.0!! And BEYOND!!
this is what i like to see. not this doomer garbage all over youtube. star citizen is already the best game out there. WELL worth all the money i spent on ship packages. most of the outrage is just jealousy that they only have the basic package or something and they are bored
There are literally hundreds of speculation and community suggestion videos on YT about SC and as a backer of 12 years it just makes me sad...BECAUSE CIG LISTENS to AND IMPLEMENTS ALMOST NONE OF IT, EVER.
I mean, to be fair, a lot of those same videos become counterproductive because they would have to filter through the small amount of actual good ideas and a lot of really terrible ideas. And largely a lot of these ideas come from people who kmow very little about game development. Including myself. But i understand what you're saying.
Blueprints, crafting and base building will be awesome to get after 4.0, hope to see more soon. The delay was to be expected, not too bummed about it, just hoping to get it working right.
4.0 coming will in no way magically reignite my faith in the project. Marketing and Chris rob-erts are the two aspects of CIG that have slowly created my hatred for the company. I think only a serious focus on adding proper gameplay will get me existed again. They have dragged out ship sales and the dream for way too long. We all need to stop spending money so CIG are forced to finally use new gameplay as marketing.
I've never had the feeling that their "dragging out ship sales" and the dream for way too long was ever intentional. But instead something that was rather unavoidable with the many features the game needed and the growing level of ambition and scope of the game. But I understand that some backers would need more convincing in order to return. Eventually if you take too long to come out with something, you're bound to be forced to work harder to win people over.
@@Desenrad I agree with you. Too much marketing bs. The problem I see is that they can't add gameplay. They have a game that runs like a 3 legged dog with no legs. Thes can't even get npc in cities to behave like they should. Unless the finally get server meshing to run there's just no point. I hope they will push this out soon, but seeing what they delivered so far I think it's not after 3.24. More like in 2026
I agree that this is exactly what they should do! Don't worry about adding features to the PU quarterly. They should get the PU play-ably stable and then commit to every patch from them on being as bug free as possible at release. If that means more time between updates so be it but at least then they can get everything to the state they want it before trying to push it to meet a deadline. The problem is they need selling points to go with their annual events and new updates do that well. My counter is, if free flights were stable and not full of crashes and bugs more people would join during every free fly event. People don't quit due to missing features. They quit because it's broken.
Free Flys being stable would be a pretty popular experience that would bring a lot of people to the game. There are some features that I think would be beneficial to be in the quarterly patches. Such as base building and/or crafting.
@@Hav0k I think those would be better done as a themed update similar to a NMS type of release. The quarterlies should be major big fixes, QoL, and add missions and extra content.

Yeah it really would be a better experience if it was more stable. What I really want is for them to get the game out and into the 1.0 state they talked about. After they deliver 4.0 of course
Thanks hav0k! Unlike most TH-camrs complaining about the problems, you highlight them and offer potential solutions. Love the videos man, much needed constructive views on our beloved game! keep it up!
Deeply dissppointed by yet another delay. Probably overstating it. I honestly don't think anybody thought Alpha 4.0 was going to launch summer of 2024, so Q4 seems pretty normal. I still think we'll have some form of testing of 4.0 by Citizencon, and if they achieve that, then kudos to CIG, failing that, I'm expecting an open PTU before the years out.
Do I want a stable version of the shit game we have now? Or do I want them to focus on getting new features and locations built to have a good game later, but sooner?? I know which choice I prefer. Any effort that goes into fixing/maintaining live means future content is even further away.
With regards to the Starfarer being functional for Pyro's success... I doubt that will be needed now with CiG significantly reducing the size of Pyro, as well as their recent admission of adding in a LOT of refueling stations.
@@Hav0k It's still larger than Stanton, but got a significant reduction in size than what was originally stated. IIRC, originally it was supposed to be six times the size of Stanton, and now it's about twice the size.

I know! Just sptiballing, here... but hear me out. What if... what if they assign a small team to JUST fixing bugs in the LIVE build? It seems like that is something they haven't tried yet. I'm sure less ships being broken, and less ship-based bugs that are easily reproducable on any machine, would give new players the ability to actually use 100% of the ship they just bought, rather than leaving it broken for multiple years. 3.24x, 3.25x, 3.26x…
Yeah I honestly don't buy it. There will be a 3.24.x patch but that's it.
@@Hav0kthe said there will be multiple 3.24.x patches for QOL stuff and bug fixes and I wouldn’t be shocked at this point to see 4.0 being similar to how 3.23/3.24 was handled
I mean, I'd honestly be okay with multiple .x patches. As long as they don't sell me some new 3.25 nonsense
@Hav0k oh no, plz no🤣
