Gatewood! I was smiling just as big watching this video as you and crew were living it up!! Man losing the tackle & then the hunters....talk about a buzz kill But I see you in the Ascend Hybrid(with a fishing pole!!!) My smile grew once I saw it lol! Epic trip, rapids, scenery & it is peace in the nature! Something this country needs right about now & what a first kayak camping trip for your bud too! Im Glad its Kayak season and Im looking forward to my trips and seeing more of yours and the crew Gatewood!! Ya'll stay safe and take care out there!!!
Man that is awesome to hear, thank you for the kind words!! There were some brutal moments but we survived for sure. The fishing pole is a staple now! I've been getting some tips and practicing so hopefully it pays off with some good content and tasty meals.
this is hands down the most well put together films on youtube. this guy works really hard to get good footage. I love the vibes of these videos. props man
Hell yeah! Have made a few day trips down the Medina this year already! We are doing an upper Guadalupe overnighter in a couple of weeks! (Was delayed due to T-storm forecast). Will be my first kayak camping trip; I'm pumped! Keep these videos coming!
Hell yeah Gatewood ! I've ran my local Arkansas River 6 times since April so far here in Pueblo, CO. Also doing some summer work guiding people on paddle boards and kayaks at Lake Pueblo State Park. We've corresponded a few times, Covid19 messed up my Houston trip, that you gave me campsites and recommendations for. One day man !!! Hope to see you back out here in CO at some point.
This is what trips are made of! Not knowing where you're gonna camp, sketchy moments with hunters and late nights on the water. You'll remember this trip for a long time buddy. Felt like I was there with you.
I've binged these videos like 10 ten times each. They are just so good! There's definitely a void for content of this quality. There are a lot of really useful videos out there, but these videos make me feel like I'm along for the trip, they're really amazing and really capture a lot of the things I LOVE about the hill country! This video in particular is probably my favorite.
Thank you so much for the kind words! The hill country is such an amazing place for sure. Even though I live in Houston, I’m constantly going out that way. I actually think this is one of my favorite videos too, underrated compared to other videos for me but I just really enjoyed the vibes from this one
You guys ever do the “Lampases river” ?? Done it many times!! Best in late March to early June. Quite a journey. Lotta limestone waterfalls and swimming holes. Typical central Texas “moon meets Caribbean” environment. Love this! Texas boys and Texas rivers!! Hell yeah
We did 5 days kayaking on the Llano some time back. Great fun. The whole trip all we saw were two fly fishermen, lots of cows and turkeys. Lots of ranchers that are accommodating for those that kayak and canoe.
Epic trip! We apparently had some night hunters on our last trip. I think I would have just flashed lights at them to let them know we were there. They LIKELY would have avoided shooting in your direction. But, I guess it's better safe than sorry. Our group wants to do the Llano soon! I'm forwarding this to the group now! Looks like we will need to break out the tents, though (or yoga mats! ;) ) Thanks for taking the extra time to film, edit and produce these vids, Gatewood! You continue to set the standard.
Thanks Michael!! Oh man that’s scary to hear, never a good situation. We also didn’t want them to come back in the morning for another session and forget about us. Better safe than sorry! The llano is wonderful but I’m thinking it’ll need some more flow if it doesn’t rain soon. Haha yoga mats are not recommended! Lol. Btw, just hammock camped the other weekend and loved it. Time to get back on rivers with trees after hitting the llano hard several times
@@GatewoodBrown I understand taking every precaution on something like that. We did a different stretch of the UG this past weekend. Definitely need more rain! We're looking at a second weekend in July trip somewhere, so I hope we get plenty before then. BTW, I ordered a Ridge Outdoors hammock based on your video. (They were out of stock online and Amazon, but I contacted them directly and they sold me one of the few they still have in the warehouse.) I didn't receive it until Monday, but it looks like a great option (at a great price) for hammock camping.
Michael Middleton TBH you guys must be experts on the UG by now!! It’s a beautiful stretch and I can’t wait to do it sometime. Very cool to hear about the ROG hammock. If you don’t use it as your main it’ll be nice to lend out. I’ve got two and let buddies borrow them on trips. I’ll be interested to hear your long term opinion on it.
I am 65, went to UT Austin in the late 70’s. Just retired and moving there just west of Junction City. I got nothing but a little land, but I am on the Llano!
A truly awesome adventure! You don't know how cool it is to watch you guys rocking the Sun Dolphins and Big Box Store gear while living more adventure than most people will ever see in a lifetime.. There is no doubt you guys are out there doing this for all the right reasons and having a great time in the process. By the way congrats on passing 4k subscribers! At this rate you will be passing the big dogs in no time! Keep it up man!
Hey KW thank you so much! The big box store gear can work for sure! Our sun dolphin just developed a hole so it is now toast. Time to add another craft to the quiver! Thanks for the 4k congrats, its kind of surreal how it shot up all in a couple weeks. Things have returned back to normal but so cool!
Awesome, thank you! It was a struggle waking up to get the timelapse but absolutely worth it. Bennett makes some tasty coffee so we always like to make a short edit for it.
Love your video's bud. The Llano has been a good river to me, I've had some amazing days out there fishing. After that biblical flood a few years ago the fishing was about nonexistent so I've been letting her calm down, and recuperate but she may be worth another visit soon. All the islands I camped on out there are completely different now, but I can always find new camping spots. Keep 'em coming man, wish you the best!
Thanks my man! The llano is a spectacular place and so unique with its flooding history. So cool to see the vegetation come back! We didn’t even get as much as a bite but that might’ve been user error lol. Are you liking the camping selection more now that the islands have been scraped clean? We found it more conducive to setting up camps
@@GatewoodBrown Well, I like my Hennessy hammock so much that having most of the trees gone make things kinda difficult. I found a good spot upstream from Snyder's crossing that works, but firewood is hard to come by. The fishing there just ain't like it used to be where you could almost cast in any direction, and at least, maybe catch a bluegill. But if you fish a Mepps XD size 2 white/sliver, or a shaky head jig/worm in the right spots, in the right way you will catch fish there. Also if you ever want a custom rod, or a 4 piece kayak/pack rod I'm out here in Liberty Hill, and I'd be happy to build you one. I'm a Lineman by profession, but custom rods are a rather serious hobby of mine. Take care bud!... Btw, my name's Robert Henry.
I wish you had a video explaining the whole "cubic feet per ratio flow rate" or whatever you said. I don't know where to learn more about that. Thanks for these great videos. They are so inspirational.
thanks for sharing. Sharing your videos with my son, so he sees the different rivers. We bass fish at least 1-3 times a week, up and down the Guadalupe, Comal, and San Marcos Rivers around the New Braunfels area.
Glad to see some fishing rods make the packing list. A whole new learning experience if you haven't done it before. Something I leaned on my last multi day trip is to lay the rods down while going through rapids. I flipped with 2 rods in rod holders, and both of them snapped right at the handle. Happened right at the beginning of the trip, too.
Yessir! I plan on bringing a rod each time we go out. You’ll see a little bit of a catch and cook on the next one. I’ll have to try out laying down rods because snapping them would be disastrous!
I stumbled across your channel cause I’m about to learn to start kayaking and I’ve been watching it everyday and havnt even kayaked yet lol it’s really enjoyable. I can’t wait to be out there
Man this is amazing to hear! Start on some flatwater or a slow moving river. Stability and paddling will feel unstable at first but you’ll quickly get the hang of it. Cheers!
When you told me this was going to be an epic video you weren't kidding! You and your buds had a good time and your positive attitude is a big part of that. Don't feel bad about not getting in much fishing. On our trip, just a few weeks later, we fished every smooth section, deep hole, ledge, layover, and rock face. I caught two small bass, my friend got skunked. We had so much fun kayaking, camping, jumping from that same cliff, and just being out in such beautiful country, that the experience didn't need any fish :) How does your brother like the Old Town compared to the Sun Dolphin? A bit of an upgrade I'd guess.
Epic indeed! Big ole rapids and a few surprises mixed in there. It can be tough to stay positive as a group but bennetts positive energy certainly helps in that department. The fishing is tough for sure! Just need to get some reps. You're spot on that most of the experience is just being out in the thick of it. Bennett said he's been missing out for all these years after he paddled the old town lol!
Man it was fun watching this video. Man you had such a good time. When you have as many people as you had in the group it makes it for so much fun & the Rapids that you go through. & when you have buddies that's never done kayak camping before and they turns out to love it it makes it even better. That was crazy how people was shooting around you the first night but you did the right thing pack up and keep moving. I know you all was tired & it was dark but your life is more important. I really like how all of you was wearing Chaco sandals man for the adventure. I want to get a pair so bad man. I see a lot of kayak people wearing them. My wife wants to get me a pair of flip-flops for kayaking only & custom make a back strap for the flip-flops to stay on my feet while kayaking until I can find me a pair of sandals to wear. Man I would love to go kayak camping with you. I love kayak camping more than I do fishing. Good video buddy thank you for sharing.
Like I said brother.. MO just fills in terrifically.. I have two brothers up north of Dallas. We are planning our first trip for September. Really looking forward to reconnecting with them.. peace man
Another great trip with professional photography. Tough first day and a few spills (and a pinned kayak). The new guy with the Wilderness Pungo packed light. I hope that was by choice as I just bought one (and love it). No place for a hard cooler.
I just accidentally found this channel. I am almost 60 but I have always wanted to do this. I look at maps to see where can this river take me. I thought it would be cool kayak all the way down to Colorado River to the Gulf. Enjoy your trips. This is very cool.
Awesome trip bro!!! What a wild first day. Kayaking in the dark is so scary. Campsites looked good. Good views and good friends and good weather equals a great trip!! I’m going on a kayak camping trip this weekend. Usually class 2-4 rapids but water is so low probably be class 1-2. Lol. Loved the video Gatewood 👍
Hey Jason thanks for checking in! Wild for sure...flips, hunters and left behind gear. Oh well! At least we had some quality scenery like you said. I hope your trip went well this past weekend! We’re the rapids big enough to mix it up?
Have you guys ever considered getting into whitewater kayaking???? Seems like it would be something you would all love. I started in a flat water kayak going at rapids like these and whitewater kayaking has been an incredible step up!!!
Gatewood Brown too bad you guys are in Texas kinda wish you were local, there’s lots of things there haven’t been run before. Maybe some first descents?
Great video! Not sure how I missed you posting it but glad I started looking around! As usual you did another awesome job describing your adventure! Keep up the good work and thanks for all the hard work it takes to put these videos together! Rick From Virginia
I love your videos! Y’all seem super chill, fun and down for anything. I love the morning attention to coffee too, seems so fun! I am ready to start exploring more kayak spots, hadn’t thought about Llano yet.
Hey thanks Kelly! We try to just have fun and keep it low key. After all, these trips are an escape out into the countryside since we all live in the city. Morning coffee is a must...especially for Bennett haha. Right now water is low everywhere but after some rain that should change
@@GatewoodBrown Yeah, I am waiting for some raaain! What times of year are the water tables highest? Spring? Fall? Also, is there a way of knowing what water flow is good for each river? I have kayaked since childhood but we kept to pretty easy rivers. I recently got a "new to me" fishing kayak with dry storage and I'd love to be more adventurous but I am not sure how to know if a river's water flow is "safe". Nothing in Texas seems too crazy but you just don't know what you are going to run into.
Kelly Hannifin congrats on the new kayak! These days with the aquifer getting pulled on so hard we just go after rains. There isn’t really a high season anymore when you know flows will be good. Generally speaking spring should be good but this year the rains came but the aquifer was so low it didn’t translate into flow. 100cfs and up is a good rule of thumb for hill country rivers.
@Gatewood Brown Thank you. I've been thinking about getting a canoe, or kayak, but the only problem is that I'm a little afraid of the waters. I'm trying to overcome it. Haha.
Should have given a good ole yeeeyeee!! To them hunters hahaha but I know the feeling when ppl coming up on the campsite, always is sketchy. Albert and I had an encounter with ppl coming through the site. Ended up drinking cold beer with them till lile 1 am. Good times
Yeah man it was wild seeing them! Just figured we’d go further into the backcountry and get away from ALL people. Haha drinking a cold beer is about as ideal an encounter as you can have!
Awesome trip and another great video man! I’m in the process of working my wife up to bigger rapids do a stretch like this. This is another one on the list though, so thank you!!
Right on my man! Glad to hear you guys are working your way up. Just remember, you can always walk some sections before building up confidence. But running them is more fun!
Great video as usual! Should have flashed your lights at those hunters to let them know you were there. Likely they would have moved on somewhere. Seems safer that paddling at night
Thanks Matthew! We were worried the hunters would come back later on at night or early in the morning. Figured it was best to just head deeper into the back country
You finally get rain down there and I'm buried with work. Great Video, loe the Aspire 105, thats what I run for whitewater, what little we have up here. actually have a new one ordered. 6 weeks late and counting.
Fun videos. Can’t wait to see you guys invest in upgrade kayaks. I love my touring feel free adventure 140 got it on sale half price. No water in cockpit & love the two bulkheads for storage. 🏕🍰😃
An upgrade is definitely needed at this point. Getting a deal on a kayak is so key, awesome to hear you were able to do half off! Bulkheads are so key. Chris has been bailed out many times by them
Hey Gatewood. Really enjoy your videos. Can I make a request? What would really set you apart is if you would give us novices helpful put in, take, time and distance, recommended flow rates for different stretches of river. I've been trying to plan a canoe trip for me and my boy but I spend so much time digging for info trying to figure out where to put in, take out and if the flow is right. Anyway, love your videos, keep up the good work.
That's a tricky one robert. I've considered it heavily and ultimately decided that those whom are serious enough to do the research, will take care of and respect the river. A quick google search after watching my video will land you with the put in and take out points. The most valuable thing you can do is map river mileage and then identify put ins and take outs. It's actually pretty easy and I've got a few videos on it.
Haha that sun dolphin is a trip! We always stick the rookie in it and he crushed! Handled those rapids like a pro. Time to get him in something more comfortable
LONG COMMENT WARNING! Dig the choice of music for this video! I think I have lost count on how many times I have watched this one. Continuing my researching of rivers to kayak camp this one is definitely on my list being roughly 4 and half hours away from me as well. A few questions, first being the distance from entry point to exit point I have mapped out on Google Earth is roughly 10.28 miles, does this sound fairly accurate to the trip with in this video? Also, if I spotted this correctly, in the "KAYAK CAMPING Texas - The Llano is a Spring Fed OASIS" video it looks like you put in where you exited in this video. With that said, do you change your entry and exit points when it comes to planning your trips or once you figure the river out you stay pretty consistent with the two points? As always, appreciate the time you take to humor us beginners and the information/adventure videos you have produced thus far. Thanks!
Wow seriously thank you so much for the comment! This was definitely one heck of a trip. Although it was crazy nothing too bad happened. We usually like to try new stretches of river but repeating some of our favorite sections is definitely in the cards
Thank god its kyaking season. Got a couple trips planned in the midwest w some of the boys this summer. So jacked. Been waiting for a upload man for a while lol. Keep it up man
I make videos of my adventures and I must say your editing is superb! Gives me ideas to make my videos more creative and interesting. I love the way the viewer feels like they're there with you! Subscribed! :)
This gave me major outer banks vibes, also have you ever considered bringing hammocks instead of tents to conserve storage? I’m so glad I just discovered this channel, definitely will be watching more
Good point! We were more worried about the morning before we were awake. Never know if their buddies were sleeping and waking before passing along the news. Didn’t want to risk it
My dad was born in Llano. Got family history going back there well over 100 years. Thinking of selling my place here just north of Boerne and looking for some riverfront property there in Llano. Maybe one day soon.
Wow! Beautiful country to grow up in. I would’ve loved to see that area back in the day. The Boerne region is stunning with the rolling hills and quaint towns. Great place to settle!
You guys always look like you're having the best time and adversity never gets you down. Those were some cool rapids...how many yard sales were there....lol? Y'all need to take up a collection and get your homeboy a tent before the next trip,
Adversity is all a part of the adventure! Obviously we'd prefer everything to go well but those kinds of trips are far and few between. Plenty of yard sales this go round! I think we need some sit on top boats...bilging is getting old! Haha he left it in the car at the launch, what a goober
@@GatewoodBrown hey there brother... i had a question about the ridge outdoor hammock... are you still using it? Have you upgraded it (example the ridge line)?
Respect from Burleigh, Australia. I go kayak camping around here over to South Minjerribah or up at Bribie, rapids down the Nymboida River and up the Noosa Everglades. Would love to get a channel going but not too bloody organised. Love what you do fellas!
Awesome video brotha! I grew up in Mason and love doing that stretch; we have so many memories on the Llano haha! Was cool seeing it from yalls view 🤙🏼🤙🏼

Gatewood Brown haha I saw that 😂 and yeah dude BIG TIME... Floods have deff played a toll on that river; but overall it’s made it nicer for floating and cleaning it out!
It was so crazy! He was even catching fish with all of the tubes around. Man I’ll take a good clean out every now and again. The gravel bars have much less plant matter which has been nice for camping. But we need that fishing to come back!

Going on a 4 day 3 night on the buffalo next week. Lower portion. North maumee to shipps ferry

Man this is amazing to hear! Start on some flatwater or a slow moving river. Stability and paddling will feel unstable at first but you’ll quickly get the hang of it. Cheers!
I love these videos, they never get old.
We had so much fun kayaking, camping, jumping from that same cliff, and just being out in such beautiful country, that the experience didn't need any fish :)
How does your brother like the Old Town compared to the Sun Dolphin? A bit of an upgrade I'd guess.
Epic indeed! Big ole rapids and a few surprises mixed in there. It can be tough to stay positive as a group but bennetts positive energy certainly helps in that department. The fishing is tough for sure! Just need to get some reps. You're spot on that most of the experience is just being out in the thick of it. Bennett said he's been missing out for all these years after he paddled the old town lol!
@@GatewoodBrown Awesome. Yeah there's some truth to "you get what you pay for" when it comes to performance equipment.
I enjoyed your narration! Feels like I'm watching a movie. Keep it up!!!
Wow thank you so much for the kind words!
Cheers to that Mack! Thanks for stopping by to watch another video. Much appreciated for real!
Looks like yall are having a blast.
This trip really was a blast!
Like I said brother.. MO just fills in terrifically.. I have two brothers up north of Dallas. We are planning our first trip for September. Really looking forward to reconnecting with them.. peace man
I need to check out MO! September should be a good time for y’all to do a trip. Have fun!
Absolutely awesome! Thank you, Gatewood.
Glad you enjoyed it Tom!
Another great trip with professional photography. Tough first day and a few spills (and a pinned kayak). The new guy with the Wilderness Pungo packed light. I hope that was by choice as I just bought one (and love it). No place for a hard cooler.
Thank you George! He left his tent and other stuff in the car at the lunch haha. Not a good way to start a long weekend!
Really good video .. nice job fellas . Can’t wait to see more adventures
Thank you SD! Just uploaded another one today that I think you’ll enjoy
I just accidentally found this channel. I am almost 60 but I have always wanted to do this. I look at maps to see where can this river take me. I thought it would be cool kayak all the way down to Colorado River to the Gulf. Enjoy your trips. This is very cool.
Thank you for the kind words! A trip from source to sea would be incredible. Never too late!
Gatewood Brown I had a blast. Had a few rapids. Probably Class 3 was the hardest. Kayak camping is so much fun
Your vids are really good! Fantastic editing and cinematic! nice job. new sub
Thank you jay! We put a lot of effort into these videos but it’s so worth it. More on the way!
Just found you this morning looking out for kayak vids... Love your stuff! Keep it up!
Thank you so much! Glad to have ya in the community
Awesome video man! Can’t help but smile. Also, nice watch.
Thank you for the kind words!
Awesome video! Looks like a great trip with good friends.
Hey Jeff! It sure was. Definitely an eventful couple of days
Have you guys ever considered getting into whitewater kayaking???? Seems like it would be something you would all love. I started in a flat water kayak going at rapids like these and whitewater kayaking has been an incredible step up!!!
We love WW kayaking! There isn't much close to where we live but anytime theres an opportunity to go we are so down.
Gatewood Brown too bad you guys are in Texas kinda wish you were local, there’s lots of things there haven’t been run before. Maybe some first descents?
@heathergalicinao3228 wait, there are other places than Texas? 🤣 we do love our state, but always down to do new things.
I got out to the llano above Mason. Thanks for the videos. That was a big reason for me having the balls to do it solo.
Medina is next...
Still haven’t done a solo trip but want to someday
Big inspirations! Trying to enter that cliff corridor! Great narration too dude!
Yeah those cliffs were pretty wild! I appreciate the kind words
Absolutely magnificent adventures!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you so much!
Yes another video
Thanks my man!
Great video! Not sure how I missed you posting it but glad I started looking around! As usual you did another awesome job describing your adventure! Keep up the good work and thanks for all the hard work it takes to put these videos together!
Rick From Virginia
Thank you rick! I appreciate the kind words. The effort is well worth it my friend
Always enjoy your new videos, keep exploring!
Thanks, will do! We have so many wonderful spots close to your neck of the woods. I'd argue Texas is up there with the best for places to explore.
I just found this channel! Omg! I'm hooked! Awesome adventures!
Wow thank you!
Great video, and a joy to watch such a beautiful experience.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you staying to watch
Good times
Manny you could charm the horns off a billygoat :)
Yeah man it was wild seeing them! Just figured we’d go further into the backcountry and get away from ALL people. Haha drinking a cold beer is about as ideal an encounter as you can have!
Love it! Wish I had nice clear rivers up in MN. Another great Yak vid!
We are definitely spoiled with the water quality down here. I'd like to try MN one day though!
great video, awesome place to go for a camping!
Thank you! Yeah we love going out there
What a great trip!! TX is really nice!!
I agree completely! Lots of cool spots to explore for sure
Awesome trip and another great video man! I’m in the process of working my wife up to bigger rapids do a stretch like this. This is another one on the list though, so thank you!!
We hit up the river leading into granger lake last weekend and are on the hunt for this weekends float!
Right on my man! Glad to hear you guys are working your way up. Just remember, you can always walk some sections before building up confidence. But running them is more fun!
Nice to see another Gatewood out there! Keep up the awesome videos!
Whoa no way that is awesome! Cheers to having a great name. Is it your first name?
@@GatewoodBrown Yeah, it is! The only other Gatewood i've met was the guy i was named after. Trying to live up to the hype around the name!
Same here! Gatewood’s are cool bunch. Are you from Kentucky by chance?
@@GatewoodBrown Yeah i am. I think we've actually met before at a wedding lol. I think we have some "family" connections
We did! Except now it has all been flushed out and the medina/frio were missed completely. The aspire was very impressive. Man that is a crazy delay!
Chris has been bailed out many times by them
Kayaking is something I need to start doing.
It’s a pretty rad sport!
Great footage and narrating, keep it up.
Thank you!
@@GatewoodBrown understood. Makes sense. Thanks for the response!
Man! that was awesome!! Great job Gatewood!
Glad you liked it!! Thanks for the kind words THB!
10/10 great vid, would watch again
Thanks my man!
lol my lady has that little blue sundolphin, and that man killed it with that little thing in those rapids thats hype lol
Haha that sun dolphin is a trip! We always stick the rookie in it and he crushed! Handled those rapids like a pro. Time to get him in something more comfortable
@@GatewoodBrown lmfao trial by fire!
Not to sound weird but I would love to go on a trip with you guys. Looks like so much fun!
Not weird at all man! These trips are a Blast and I highly recommend you out a crew together
Keep it up man
That’ll be a good time my man! More uploads on the way
Another great video Gatewood!
Thanks michael!
Yeeeeeeewwwwww - another great video bro! Can't wait to get started....
Heck yeah my man! Go pick up a yak and you'll love it
Bro I discovered your channel today, and damn dude it makes me sooo want to do this with a few oaks aswell🔥🔥🔥and then content is fleeeek👏🏻
That’s the ultimate compliment thank you! Cheers my man
Killin' it Gatewood! Awesome work capturing this trip! I think you missed out on having some nice grass-fed steaks for dinner on that 2nd night. 🐄🥩
Thanks, Matt! Man we should've...those would've been nice a fresh. The coolers crushed it this go round!
Great video! Looks like a good time.
Thank you Mike! We had a blast for sure...once the hard work was over lol
In sure you get this a lot. But I’d love to join you guys sometime. Kayak camping has become my absolute favorite pastime. Great videos dude.
Check out some Facebook groups for paddling trips! There always seems to be trips getting planned
I make videos of my adventures and I must say your editing is superb! Gives me ideas to make my videos more creative and interesting. I love the way the viewer feels like they're there with you! Subscribed! :)
Thank you so much! Glad I can be a part of your creative journey. More outdoors channels the better!
So awesome!
Thank you so much JH!
@@GatewoodBrown Dude, my wife and I just discovered your videos last night...we watched 4 of them, haha. Will be tuning in for more! Great job.
This gave me major outer banks vibes, also have you ever considered bringing hammocks instead of tents to conserve storage? I’m so glad I just discovered this channel, definitely will be watching more
Thanks! Whenever there are plentiful trees along our route we prefer hammock camping. This section is quite arid so tent camping made the most sense.
@GatewoodBrown I prefer hammocks because of the damn rocks lol. You're right though can't use them all the time.
Such an amazing video great stuff
I really appreciate that! We had a wonderful time putting this together
Their a lot of gypsum in the Texas Hill country, it turn the water green. You can order some, It's PH neutral.
Interesting I didn’t know that!
Thats exciting kayak 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yes it definitely was!
Wouldn't the night hunters notice your camp fire? Awesome trip gentlemen.
Good point! We were more worried about the morning before we were awake. Never know if their buddies were sleeping and waking before passing along the news. Didn’t want to risk it
@@GatewoodBrown Good call! I didn't even think about that.
very nicely done
Thank you Charles!
BTW thanks for posting your videos I like them alot.
It’s my pleasure! Thank you for watching them!
Like the content man! Subscribed!
Thank you for watching!

Greta and Texas rivers make for a great combo!
What a great trip... i love your videos
Thanks, Kyle! Hope you've been well my man
@@GatewoodBrown i am doing great... got a good job, family is safe and healthy, and planing a kayak trip or a camping trip with my kids
That’s all you can ask for my friend. Adding in a camping trip will be a nice escape from all of this
@@GatewoodBrown ... may the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back.
That sounds awesome! I’d love to paddle in Australia someday. Lots of cool outdoors channels come from your neck of the woods
@@GatewoodBrown yep, some nice waterways here. Come on over! Hey, do you pack any different if/when you go solo paddling?
@@timberbenjamin I can get away with packing lighter for solo paddles. Don't need to bring 'extra' gear for the group.
Great that you linked the gear you use!!!
Anything I can do to help! I get loads of questions about gear so I’ll be doing a full video on that soon
@@GatewoodBrown sweet thanks Im looking forward for that video!!! Im planning on doing a kayak/canoe fishing and camping trip soon
@@juanvelazquez5766 Right on! Spring will be here before we know it.
This is great!
Thank you so much!
Awesome video brotha! I grew up in Mason and love doing that stretch; we have so many memories on the Llano haha! Was cool seeing it from yalls view 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Cheers my man! I'm jealous you lived close there growing up!! One of my favorite sections in TX. You've probably seen floods change it up as well. I ran into Manny B this weekend on the guad, so crazy!
Gatewood Brown you got that right man!
Yessir!
