In 2006, I was locked up with an 18-year-old facing 30 years for checks. A grandma who killed her grandbaby, another girl threw her baby in the trash, a rich girl who killed her roommate because she thought the girl slept with her man. This was Cook.County Jail in Chicago, IL. I was pregnant, and they had all of us in a special unit.
