    I have a String of Turtles too that is doing fine so far after getting it a few months ago. I too have a little difficulty w/Peperomias w/over watering them. I did get it to bloom though! I'm excited about that. But, I did have to buy a new grow light because I get decent light but not south facing unfortunately. So, thanks a bunch & God bless!🙏😁

    I think your cleverly decorative touch of placing the turtle on the string of turtles pot is awesome, I got an impressed chuckle out of that. More proof of your plant artistry, right up there with your monstera work mat. Seriously, nice job on the repotting I could never untangle a plant like that without collateral damage. I have three small seedlings of African Hosta that I am going to pot today (in the same pot) using a chunky soil mix like yours. I am familiar with other Hosta as as landscape plants but had never heard of an African Hosta houseplant until a few days ago. A local commercial nursery gave me the seedlings. Hopefully they will grow into a nice houseplant. You tutelage at work so thanks for that.

    Your turtle plant looks amazing. I myself have a "4 inch" pot really a 3 inch (sold as a 4 inch) and I have it hanging from my north east window and it seems to be doing ok. I will continue to watch and In the future change out the soil and put in a smaller pot so that it does not retain more moisture than it should. Love that Sol soil mix. I maybe purchasing some of that for some of my house plants.

    Do you have an update on this beauty since you repotted it? I love the pot! Was wondering how you water... Do you use a watering can or a squirt bottle? Does water not come out of the holes where the rope is? Do you have to be careful about not watering "on" the turtles?

    Hey Melissa, love your content. I recently bought a SOT from Facebook marketplace and when I came to detangle it I found it wasn’t actually rooted into the soil but it was living. I carried on detangling the growth and laid them back onto the soil with a light sprinkling of potting mix on top. Will they be ok? Will the re-root? I really hope so. Any advice gratefully received. Beautiful string of turtles! Just curious if you took the plug out of the drainage hole? And, when you water it, do you let it drain over the sink since it doesn’t have a tray?

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I leave it plugged until I water it! I take a lot of my plants to the sink so they can drain but sometimes I just hold a container under them to let them drain and then I’ll just put the plug back ☺️

    I think I under watered mine. It has turned crispy brown. I have it in a west window. I bought it in a 6" hanging basket. It does have a few green strands left. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

    Love watching you with your plants you don’t seem to get frustrated like I do . But am working on making a bedroom for my plants maybe will help . Where is a good place for me to start getting cuttings so I can try and grow from baby’s like you did on the turtles 🪴

      Thank you! Sometimes I do it depends on my mood haha. After having plants for awhile I tend to not be so hard on myself like I used to be. I would check locally! I joined a Facebook plant group before I moved and we traded and sold cuttings all the time. Sometimes nurseries will set little starter ones! ☺️

      Yes! It’s doing well :) it had a set back over the summer when ants 🐜 made a colony in the pot thanks to a Hoya bloom that dropped sap everywhere in the window 😩
