      Dylan,
      Saw your comment.
I, as a practicing Catholic, agree with you on the need to read the Bible often in order to be inspired with its taching.
On the other hand, I must emphasize that our Lord Jesus Christ founded one Eklessia or Church to whom He asked to be perfectly one. Nowhere did our Lord hinted of division based on personal reading of inspired writings. Remember, our Lord setup a Magisterium with Peter as its head to feed and tend His flock in his absence. Moreover, our Lord prayed personally for Peter for the strengthening of his faith in order to guide His one Church.
Ask yourself: Did our Lord's prayers for the leader of His Church stopped with Peter in the first century?
The answer is NOT! Our Lord, as you know, went on to say in:
      Matthew 28:19-20
      19. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit,
      20. teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, UNTIL THE END OF THE AGE.”
Therefore, the promise given to Peter is carried forward to all his future successors for the benefit of all Christians down to the ages, in order to remain "perfectly one" just as Jesus wanted.
My friend, even though I respect your personsl discernment regarding your beliefs and practices, I pray that one day we will all be one just as our Lord Jesus Christ asked.
      May God bless your discernment.

Yes the early Catholic Church officially assembled Catholic Bible Canon in 382 AD in the Ecumenical Council of Rome under Pope Damasis I - by that time the Catholic Bible texts were written in Koine Greek , old Latin , Hebrew and Aramaic- but the Catholic Church before 382 AD had a few Catholic bibles totally written in either Koine Greek or old Latin and they were written by scribes in the oral tradition on animal hide scrolls or papyrus (paper didn’t exist back then )
Geographically these texts were written in Israel / Turkey/Macedonia/North Africa (Morroco, Egypt and Ethiopia) and Italy areas

Bros & Sis, consider this question:
Why do non Catholic Christians believe that the Bible is definitely the inspired scriptures considering that the Bible was searched, sorted, selected, put together and declared to be the final books inspired by God, by the Catholic church from around 25k manuscripts (the original couldn't be found when the time the Bible was being put together). This process was under the guardianship and authority of the Pope.
The books of the Bible were chosen and finalized with the authority of the Popes.
So, why do non Catholic Christians use this Bible or at least its core (some Christians removed done books and changed some translations), that the Catholic church put together, through the Pope's finality of authority, instead of them just searching, sorting, selecting and putting together their own using their individual consciences and authority as they claim all good Christians can identify truth?
The Bible is a Catholic created book and declared the true holy God inspired scriptures by the SOLE authority of the Pope.
THEY USE THIS SAME BIBLE, SO IT IMPLIES THEY BELIEVE THAT THE POPE HAS THAT SAME AUTHORITY TO DECLARE TRUTH.
AND NOW THEY BELIEVE (THIS BELIEF/ FALSE TEACHING/ WRONG LOGIC IS STARTED BY LUTHER) THE POPE DOESN'T HAVE THAT SAME AUTHORITY, AND THAT ALL TRULY FAITHFUL CHRISTIANS HAVE THAT AUTHORITY.
THEN NON CATHOLIC CHRISTIANS EACH HAVE THEIR OWN IDENTIFICATION OF TRUTH AND INTERPRETATION OF THE SCRIPTURES.
    THIS IS WRONG RIGHT?
Let's unite in truth. Being in truth will unite Christians.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:34 📜 *The Bible's origin is a long story divided into Old and New Testaments.*
01:43 📜 *The New Testament, focusing on Jesus and disciples, was composed by those in Jesus's immediate circle over about 70 years.*
02:23 📜 *The early Church, led by bishops, determined which books were orthodox, true to Jesus's teaching, and thus included in the New Testament.*
03:50 📜 *The Church's authority, not a library club, played a crucial role in discerning and recognizing the New Testament.*
05:30 📜 *The Old Testament's longer development involved scrolls, synagogue readings, and a canon forming around the Torah.*
07:06 📜 *Old Testament copies are close, and the canon formation was not based on conflicting interpretations but on the development of a community of faith.*
08:15 📜 *The New Testament's accuracy is high, with differences often in minor details, and translations aim to make Scripture accessible to all people.*
09:39 📜 *The Bible's translation into various languages reflects its universality and the early Christians' effort to share it with diverse people groups.*
11:45 📜 *Manuscript errors were generally due to human factors like misunderstanding, not a deterioration of the text over time.*
12:53 📜 *The Bible's humanness, written by human beings, does not diminish its divine inspiration; God has always worked through human involvement.*

For English readers of the Bible, I believe that the Douay Rheims Bible is the Best English Translation of the Bible. It is more Accurately Specific and Detailed than the Revised Versions. Revised Versions have Unavoidable Ambiguities that many times Speaks a Different Message.
And the Newer Translations are missing Verse 21 of Chapter 17 in the Book of Matthew. In the Douay Rheims Bible it is not missing.

    • @biblealone9201
      @biblealone9201 ปีที่แล้ว +4

For the first 300 years of Christianity, there was no Bible as we know it today. Christians had the Old Testament Septuagint, and literally hundreds of other books from which to choose. The Catholic Church realized early on that she had to decide which of these books were inspired and which ones weren't. The debates raged between theologians, Bishops, and Church Fathers, for several centuries as to which books were inspired and which ones weren't. In the meantime, several Church Councils or Synods, were convened to deal with the matter, notably, Rome in 382, Hippo in 393, and Carthage in 397 and 419. The debates sometimes became bitter on both sides. One of the most famous was between St. Jerome, who felt the seven books were not canonical, and St. Augustine who said they were. Protestants who write about this will invariably mention St. Jerome and his opposition, and conveniently omit the support of St. Augustine. I must point out here that Church Father's writings are not infallible statements, and their arguments are merely reflections of their own private opinions. When some say St. Jerome was against the inclusion of the seven books, they are merely showing his personal opinion of them. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion. However, A PERSONS PRIVATE OPINION DOES NOT CHANGE THE TRUTH AT ALL. There are always three sides to every story, this side, that side, and the side of truth. Whether Jerome's position, or Augustine's position was the correct position, had to be settled by a third party, and that third party was the Catholic Church.
Now the story had a dramatic change, as the Pope stepped in to settle the matter. In concurrence with the opinion of St. Augustine, and being prompted by the Holy Spirit, Pope St. Damasus I, at the Council of Rome in 382, issued a decree appropriately called, "The Decree of Damasus", in which he listed the canonical books of both the Old and New Testaments. He then asked St. Jerome to use this canon and to write a new Bible translation which included an Old Testament of 46 books, which were all in the Septuagint, and a New Testament of 27 books.
ROME HAD SPOKEN, THE ISSUE WAS SETTLED.
"THE CHURCH RECOGNIZED ITS IMAGE IN THE INSPIRED BOOKS OF THE BIBLE. THAT IS HOW IT DETERMINED THE CANON OF SCRIPTURE🤦‍♀️

by 4 minutes in, the Truth is turned upside down, as I expected from a Catholic perspective
The RCC did NOT decide which writings were Canon...GOD wrote both Testaments- the recipients RECOGNIZED them. The CHURCH did not write the Bible.
My computer is NOT writing these comments, I am. The laptop is my instrument. If I say, "there sits a blue pickup truck"; it is NOT a blue pickup truck because
I say it is...I recognize what it is. The holy Spirit testifies to what is scripture. The moment an epistle/book was written, it WAS canon, whether anyone believes it or not.
By the mid second century all 27 books were written, copied and shared among the churches throughout the Roman empire.
As for the Old Testament, same thing. As soon as a "book" was written, it was CANON, as it was written by God. The Jews had the complete canon by 400 bc.
The RCC ADDED the extra books after the reformation began.

You can find it in Eusebius' book, Historia Ecclesiastica (Book iii. No 39, verse 15), Eusebius of Caesarea provides both information about Papias and quotations from Papias.
Papias (60 - 130 AD) was the bishop of Hierapolis, he was one of Apostle John's (15 - 100 AD) disciples along with Polycarp. This is also confirmed by Irenaeus (Polycarp's disciple)
Meanwhile the Eusebius (260 - 339 AD) was bishop of Caesarea, he wrote several book related to Apostles, their disciples, and their teachings.
"(15) “This also the presbyter said: Mark, having become the interpreter of Peter, wrote down accurately, though not in order, whatsoever he remembered of the things said or done by Christ. For he neither heard the Lord nor followed him, but afterward, as I said, he followed Peter, who adapted his teaching to the needs of his hearers, but with no intention of giving a connected account of the Lord’s discourses, so that Mark committed no error while he thus wrote some things as he remembered them. For he was careful of one thing, not to omit any of the things which he had heard, and not to state any of them falsely.” These things are related by Papias concerning Mark."
(Eusebius, Historia Ecclesiastica, Book iii. No 39, verse 15)
or in original text written as below :

First of all Jesus was not a religious man, and what ever happened to the other Apostles books, the word bible (biblia)is in Greek meaning book or books, and why were the Gnostic books burnt and the Gnostic people killed , if you read (John 8:42-46) it say something like you do your fathers work your father the devil, and Jesus is not God it says so in ( John 5:41) ,( Rev 19:10)( Rev22:9) he is just a servant and does not want humans to worship him read it, Jesus was a spiritual homeless man, religion is manipulating everyone, the book of Tobias the Angel Raphael showed Tobit how to do a ritual by burning a fish liver, heartland gallbladder to get rid of an evil spirit from a girl and to restore the eye sight of Tobias that sounds like witchcraft to me , and the bible say divination is evil , but Jesus is a divine being and he also used divinity , the prophets also used divination to foretell the future, so did Jesus foretell the future, take the blind folds off religion and the government are using mind control, did Jesus not say the truth will set you free, Jesus was an ascended master , religion is using Jesus for clout

4TH CENTURY THE FIRST USE OF THE WORD "BIBLE": It came from the Greek word "biblos" which means the inner bark of the papyrus, paper-reed, from which paper was originally made, in Egypt. The Latin form "Biblia" spelled with a capital letter, came to mean "the Book of Books," "The Book" by way of pre-eminence, the inspired Book, etc. The Holy Scriptures were first called the Bible by St. Chrysostom, the Catholic Archbishop of Constantinople, in the 4th century. And why don't people believe in reincarnation if Jesus said Elijah returned as John the Baptist, (Luke 1:17) we are all spirit living in a human body or was Jesus lying? And why go and pray in a church or a temple if out body is a temple, did Jesus not say don't be like the hypocrites who love to pray standing so others can see them , but go in your room and pray to the father so that he can see you, what did Jesus mean in (John 8:42-46) and why would God allow a girl that's gets raped to marry her rapists? And if the Bible God is loving and forgiving, why did he have innocent woman and children kill (Numbers 31:17-18) and they were to keep all virgin girls for themselves, when the 10 commandments say you shall not kill and why is there slavery in the Bible ? Does the Bible not contradict itself? I was a Christian man but the spirit of God showed me things that are not of God in the Bible now I am a spiritual person

God. The Bible is Gods divine canon Word reveled to us through his divine power and wisdom, and I trust in Him to have revealed it perfectly and through which ever medium was most effective by His perfect choices. Everything and everyone else is man taking credit for what God established for us to know before the creation of the universe. Man did not impact that, and man did not contribute to scripture; nor could they if 100% of humans tried altogether to do so.
Step aside Catholics, this is not your book; your book is the Catechism, scripture is the book of Christians.
