    Thanks buddy . Had to remove ignition in my 91 Chevy van . It's different but gave good enough of an idea to get it done.

    This video should have been titled "Watch me replace a 91 Chevy ignition"

    Actually not a bad video but some comments would have helped, like wrench sizes and such, and maybe holding some of those tools up to the camera so we can see what you are using. For instance what did you use to stick in the ignition to release it from the column? Someone said a paperclip would work. It looked like an ice pick or something similar.

    I managed to get everything off to see that small plastic part with some contacts sitting over the torx screw for cylinder. Looks like you just pulled it out. Kinda' you'd of said something about it. But I know how you can forget your on camera when your working. Thanks for the video.

    That is an ignition lock. A search said ignition switch (what I am looking for) and the title here is ignition. What a mess.

    Okay what size Allen did you use at the end what size wrench did you use on the puller most of the time what size Allen did you use in the beginning to get the steering wheel off and at 3:39 of the video you start using what looks like a flat head to push like 3 or 4 spring loaded things in to get past that part what was that you where doing? Other wise all self explanatory. Thanks

    if the key is worn down try cutting a new key by code before replacing the ignition cylinder.

    You need to add an audio track narrating what you are doing. I have the exact same car and this video was useless.

    First off you shouldn't be working for a locksmith if u think that's an ignition switch. That is a lock cylinder

  • @scottsrfun

    I remember the day when you would just insert a unfolded paper clip and insert it into a hole, put your key into it and it would slid out.

  • @nscriven28

    Hold up why did he take all the screws off the steering wheel and separate that you don't have to take the steering wheel off to get that metal bolt out

  • @jakef.1388
    @jakef.1388 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fuckin great. Very short and to the point. I’m more experienced but once you figure out what size torx bit you need, and get a good steering wheel and lock cylinder pulling kit it’s a breeze. Rent that from your local auto store. Sometimes it’s free, sometimes you make a deposit you get back.

      +Daxx Green Ummm yep. I would have loved a little explaining as he went. The funny thing is that I got a big box of tools from a neighbor that passed years ago and I have one of those chicken foot looking tools that he used early on and I never knew what it could be used for! Thank for the video Ryan Hamilton, it will help.

    I wish that I had seen this video a few years ago. I actually stopped driving an older 1992 Blazer around 2008 due to this same ignition key problem. The shop wanted nearly $1,000 to fix it, which was more then the retail value of the car at that time. That car is still parked at my place, but I doubt it would start at all today since it has been sitting so long.
