I tested my two NT-1 5th with USB to my 2022 Macbook M2 Air. Stereo setup in 32bit Float, Ultra low latency with Rode Connect. I have absolutely no latency while playing at the piano or talking with my headset on one ear.
Sadly I'm returning my Rode NT1 5th Gen. What a huge disappointment! Despite my best effort I could not get the mic to stop dropping words in my recordings. I mean how is that even a thing??!?! 50% of the time it would totally omit the first word of ANY new sentence and as an added bonus it would often trim off or omit words starting up after a pause. This is not something that should have to be "fixed" in a setting right out of the gate. My other mics do NOT do this. This is a brand new mic! The cables are connected securely and it has this issue every time! This is happening on the USB side and I have no need to use this mic as an XLR as I have my reliable RE20 for that purpose. The depth of the Rode NT1 5th Gen's sound is beautiful. I DO like that right out of the box and it was due to that that I kept trying to fix the dropout issues. Alas, it never could get fixed. It's going back. I can only hope that Rode will honor its 30 day money back warranty on it.
I love your video, I m wondering if you can guide me though this use case, im using 2 of these mics for a dnd podcast, i have six people in a rectangular table, each mic is boom over 3 people, the closest distance between the mic and the guy in the middle is probably 50cm, what should my gain be and what are the settings i should use for the noise gate and compressor... I d love if you can throw me at me some info here
The dsp effects only work when connected via usb. The usb connection is inside the the xlr port so at currrnt there is no way to dual output from the nt1 5th gen
If you plug your Dji mic into a rode ai micro you could use it but you would need a 3.5mm stereo to mono splitter to have both of the Dji mics on Seperate channels in connect. Also you won’t have the full aphex processing just one button processing.
When using the NT1 5th Gen in USB mode, can I just bypass the Rode Connect altogether and just go straight to Audacity and record from there or do we HAVE to use Rode Connect to be able to control the Gain, Depth and Noise floor etc. Maybe this cannot be done with Audacity or Audition?
Yes, you make the settings for onboard gain, and the APHEX processing in Rode Central, or Rode Connect. They persist in the mic, once set. Something to be aware of, and remember. Sometimes you'll want to turn off any onboard processing or adjust the gain. As mentioned, the processing and gain is only for the USB.
my Samsung S24+ shows in the display that the signal is coming from an USB interface, but it does record with the internal mic. No wonder: The USB-C Port of the Smartphon provides no Phantom Power
+1 I am disgusted by the fact that there is no jack on the microphone for direct monitoring with zero latency. It's a deal breaker for me. Every US$20 Chinese USB shit-mic has it. Nt-1 5th gen unfortunately not. I returned the microphone back to the e-shop.
I really love the Rodecaster and Rode Connect FX. When I did radio in 1996 we had the big bottom in the 19" rack.
its crazy in the year 2023 we are still dealing with latency issues
works without noticable latency for me
I have use lot of softwares, none were this difficult to understand. None

I don't have any of those extra settings. Depth, Sparkle, Punch. None of that shows on my system. What am I missing?
I used nt-usb for connecting to my mac but in the rode connect software it’s not recognizing. Do you know how can i fix it?
same issue here
They want you to spend more money and buy a newer microphone @@tommyr.morava5803
Nro i well love to see a vidoe on rode procaster pro 2 to see how route all the sound for the pc

So do you can connect the Rode nt1 to the Rode Ai 1 and monitoring this with zero latency with the dsp effects from rode nt1 as well?

@@thefullsetup Oh the Effects are not working when you connected it with a xlr Cable? That's sad.
Hi Good Review.
Can I Use This Software With My Dji Mic Too?
I Appreciate So Much Your Support.
Thanks So Much
Blessings

The only reason to buy this was for the USB and FX processing, if you can't hear it in real time it's useless
nice
thanks for this, but weirdly my mic doesn't show up to drag across?
Have you got the latest version of Røde connect installed

So you can’t podcast with rode connect without terrible latency?
my setup works fine (Mac M2), Rode Connect, 32bit float
Can the microphone be plugged into a phone?
