- On Instagram Avant Manufacturing asked me what I thought about a flat bottom drill that he had hand ground. I thought that would be a great topic for an episode of "In The Cut"

Wow, your hand grinding skill is awesome! Couple topics I would be interested in if you have time: easiest way to shorten carbide shanks on tools without special tools? Also some discussion of wheel types and what is a good setup for a machine shop that needs to modify carbide tools occasionally. Thanks!
Dan Rudolph great idea 👍
Thanks, I have done this many times for several reasons. Thanks for the awesome explanation. Thumbs up
I subscribed and follow you on IG

Never hand ground a drill before. We have had troubles in the past trying to get a flat bottom on a part, if we can manage to get this to cut on center and on size that would be amazing.
Use a tool and cutter grinder, K O Lee's are everywhere. There dirt cheap
Hard way for newbies.
Alexey Zachepilo starting out learning the hard way makes everything else the easy way. 😜
That's a blue norton surface grinding wheel isn't it, that is sooo cheating, just like how its cheating when I used to go hand grind something on our beat up surface grinder :P The point is, those wheels are friggin awesome in tool steel and I'm jealous of having them on a bench grinder.
Hi Alfred, may we know the name of this wheel n grit ? thanks in advance !
