  • We gather for our special Day of Mindfulness with sister Chan Khong in the Ocean of Peace Meditation Hall on Sunday, May 14, 2023. Following a gathering with Su Co, we will hold a session of questions and sharing with Su Co Thoại Nghiem, Thay Phap Dung, and Thay Ngộ Không.
    1. How do I practice with fear of dying?
    2. A question about friends and addiction. How can I help my friend who isn’t ready to stop? Do I need to cut them off?
    3. How to balance a sense of awe, respect, and inspiration from your teachers and also a sense of equality? To be able to share and forming ideas together.
    4. A year ago I cut contact with my biological father and more recently been doing therapy (online) together with him. We will meet in person next month and I am very afraid. Do you have any advice?
    5. Practicing with difficult/painful emotion. Is coming to the present moment, soothing, enjoying the wind and sounds, etc. But is that enough for the deeper pain?
    6. How do we arrive at home?
    7. How to practice with the suffering of not being understood, especially when the stakes can seem very high?
    8. Developing balance and a “whole” practice. How much to direct my mind on conditions of happiness?
    9. I’ve been an explorer of different faith traditions. What is a teaching or practice for apologizing/asking forgiveness? Can you practice without a sangha?
    10. How do embrace gratitude and blessings that come with the practice, along with the next chapter of my life that is different than I can imagine?
    11. Making decisions. I'm transitioning from finishing college to the next stage in my life. How do I step up for my joy? Especially when all the building blocks have been laid out for me by my parents.

Such a beautiful day together. The sound went almost completely away at 1 hour and 5 minutes. Somehow the tech team's mics were prominent and not those of the panel and sister/brother with question. Much love gratitude and joy to be with you.🙏🏽

Love the last question and the beautiful answers. Though I’m so proud of my adult children, I think it’s time for me to apologize to them for imposing so many restrictions and regulations while raising them. Thank you all so much for this session. 🙏

Starting at 1:06:37 the sound cuts out and becomes very faint. This lasts until 1:14:46. I hope it is possible to edit this section of the video to make the sound louder, although at some point the sound seems to drop out entirely and I guess nothing can be done about that.
