That idea behind playing levels to grant more hits for the final level run that you can do at any time sounds really cool.
I only played Yooka-Laylee after it had been patched a few times, including camera fixes, and I really enjoyed it. It did exactly what I wanted from it - old school Banjo type N64 platforming fun. This one looks like it will satisfy the side on platforming itch. Awesome.
i can get behind this. i love banjo kazooie growing up. yooka laylee i can appreciate i played it but it just didnt feel like a true successor. changing it up to this 2D /2.5D style and more about level design and challenge is something that i can definitely get into. glad to hear grant kirkhope too hes an AMAZING musical composer absolutely incredible
This gives me some Major Donkey Kong country-vibes which is not necessarily a bad thing.
It should, the same devs that made that worked on this. Still though, Yooka-Laylee did not live up to Banjo-Kazooie at all, so I'm timidly looking forward to this game for now.

@@RegalPixelKing I think he meant Tropical Freeze specifically, which was made by Retro Games, not Rare or any former Rare employees. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also, its more than just vibes. They straight up copied several elements from Tropical Freeze, anyone who has played that game will notice many of them. Not hating on it, though. If you're going to emulate a 2D platformer, Tropical Freeze is the best of the best imo.
@@sleepnaught Your right, modern DK games are made by Retro Games, and I think that Tropical Freeze is better than any of the snes classics. But yeah, if they did a good job copying the vibes/gameplay that will only benefit this game.
Nothing beats DK2.
Interesting. I’m impressed by the amount of polish. This is what new super Mario bro’s needs. Isometric puzzle platforming levels.
Or what if they merged NEW smb and DK country.
What I'm liking the look of most is the ability to alter levels from the overworld in a way that's reminiscent of the multiple ways of entering a level in Mario 64.

Jasmine - Ruff-Puff Yeah, plenty of tonics to find, plus extra bees not found in the levels. A definite recommend. Especially given that it’s half the price of Tropical Freeze

This review its only describing the game to me but not sharing me what the reviewer thinks about any of it, What's the point of this review if I can get the same information about the game by reading the freaking Steam description for it?
This game has FOUR composers while David Wise and Grant Kirkhope only taking up a small amount of songs. Why does NO review mention that? D:

this video was all pros.....were there any cons? im glad that it looks like a good if not great game, but I doubt its perfect. are there any elements about it that might have been a issue or deal breaker?
Very few reviews point out flaws. I think the biggest problem with the game is that it's not groundbreaking.

Gagneto well theyre not even slightly similar in terms of gameplay. So I don’t think many lessons from the first game will be evident in this one.

Didn't even know this game existed til I saw this in my feed. This one looks like it has potential to be better than the first game, but the first game wasn't super great to begin with imo
$25? Well, the original YL is still $40, with discounts that only bring it down to $20.
It's still strange to see a 2D platformer - even one in a pre-existing engine - that costs more than $15. The game does look and sound as good as a new Donkey Kong Country, though.
