That's the only way I think this song can get elevated, it's so simple on its own. But if there's a sick transition into a bigger song, I'll enjoy the listen on the album.
I loved this song dude. They performed it live in Vancouver days before it was released and it is so good live. Also, Josh does backing vocals live a lot.
@@tl1572 I think they have said that for every release hahaha . When secret garden was released she said the same . Also with rotoscope . :) keep it coming spiritbox
It shows how many people didn’t actually listen to Eternal Blue with how shocked they are there isn’t a disgusting breakdown… not every song they do has them!! And they’re still tunes!!
I've heard every song lol, if you've heard courtney in her interviews it's clear that she wants alot of variations and for the music to sound different so it appeals to more people, she's got a good vision.
This might just be my new favorite Spiritbox track! This track actually reminds me a bit of 4D by Northlane with all of the fast-paced breakbeats, with this one being much more chill... and I love the vibe. This was a love at first listen track for me and I hope the rest of the album follows suit!
Reminds me of Secret Garden which didn't have any serious roooaaarrring. I love that song, it's super catchy. I'm hoping with a couple more spins I'm going to dig this new song like that.
This is such a good song to vibe to. It does get me excited to see what’s coming next. Hell, it wouldn’t surprise me if the next song they release is like a follow up to this song, like if this song is on an upcoming album, the next single they release is the next track on the album, especially with how this song ends almost on a cliffhanger.
Same. Talented bunch of individuals. I love the evolution of bands. Opeth and Steven Wilson come to mind where they evolved a lot and you can still notice it's an Opeth or SW song/project upon hearing it. I might be biased because Opeth and Porcupine Tree/SW and his dozen other projects are my favorites.
This was a great review man. I love that you have constructive criticism along with the positive stuff. A much more well rounded review. Keep it up man. Your videos just keep getting better right now.
Saw them last week here in LA at the Wiltern. Amazing performance, they covered No Doubt Hella Good... The stage production was amazing too. Solid show.
@@barrygomez5968 no they cover hella good. Try actually reading the comment you're replying to cause he clearly said the song title at the same time as the band name dummy
This song is so up beat and loops perfectly! Reminds me of Northlane Clockwork vibes! Courtney’s voice is very soothing in this song. So chill listening to this song!
So I'm big in to metal but I have to say Spiritbox are doing great at breaking down those gates for new fans of the genre that are being kept, it's super refreshing and they are killing it
This reminds me soooo much of Ashe-era TesseracT and Ashe’s band Voices From the Fuselage. I know Spiritbox is influenced by them but everything from the production and even Courtney’s vocal melodies sound like something Ashe would make! And that’s definitely not a bad thing!
This song is so fun to vibe to, like I don't feel like headbanging on it, it has like a shoegaze-y vibe to it, I wanna close my eyes and dance more with this one and I love that. It goes to show just how versatile this band continues to be. They give me the chunky headbanging songs, they give me the close my eyes and dance songs, and no matter what they do they're killing it. All bangers.
For me, Spiritbox were one of those rare finds where I just fell in love immediately. Eternal Blue provides just about everything I would want from an album, and more. Genuinely excited when there’s a new release from them. Not many bands these days do that for me. Also great video Nik. Keep up the great work, always a pleasure watching your stuff :)
This came up on a Spotify playlist and I instantly fell in love. Not as crazy as some of their other songs and Holy Roller still remains my favorite Spiritbox song but I absolutely love how otherworldly and ethereal this song sounds. Courtney's voice is amazing and the riffs and beats groove so well. I've had it pretty much on repeat for a few days now.
I 100% agree with the final chorus just having that hauntingly beautiful factor that takes it to higher heights. Wish it was this version the whole time, but now listening to the whole songs builds anticipation for that outro chorus. 😍
Hey Nik, it isn't particularly new, but if you haven't heard ILLENIUM's song with Spiritbox, Shivering, you should give it a listen. Had no idea what to expect from it, but now that I heard it I wish there was more music like that with vocalists like Courtney
I bet within the next year and a half a second album is going to drop. I like the poppy vibe, it doesn't seem to hurt the song. It's good to have this dynamic variety in your work as a band.
i feel like they did the token early deafheaven thing in this song - they built up with a steady more chaotic wall of busy sound - into the release and the resolution version of the chorus at the/near the end of the song, complete with a cliffhanger for a perfect seamless transition into the next song on the album like deafheaven just did that left and right for a long time - just wall of sound blast beats into like just lots of open cymbals and spaced out quarter note bass/snare yknow
I had the exact same reaction just before it ended. I was expecting to be destroyed. Hopefully they will play with track transitions like they did on Eternal Blue and lead into something super chunky in the next track because that setup is too perfect to just go GG.
I saw Spiritbox this past Monday in Phoenix and they absolutely smashed it. One of the best sounding bands I’ve seen live. I lost my mind when they played Hella Good.
I had the pleasure of hearing this song early at their show last weekend. The chorus was instantly catchy and I knew this would be a song that stays in your head
I thought the last time I was going to see Nik stop a video would be with Falling in Reverse - Watch the World Burn but now, wow. Nice video man. Greetings from Chile! 🇨🇱
Like After the Burial you say? Hmm, coincidence they're touring together? Mayhaps, mayhaps not. I'm totally happy they're trying new things, because that's kinda their thing lately with experimenting, while also still retaining the essence of Spiritbox. I agree with others here, that this seems like their "Secret Garden" of their new music/album. Still my fave band for the past 4 years, and it was dope hearing it live in Vancouver.
I'm from Europe, so when I found out you're on a holiday, I thought, "oh nice, he will have some fun for a couple of weeks". I'm kind of surprised you're back already. Please take care of yourself.
Same here! Altered State is one of my all time favorite albums and so to here this sort of production again is gorgeous. Plus Courtney’s voice reminds me a lot of Ashe so it works very well with this style.
Hot take I guess amongst the metal community, but I'm happy that metal is going a little more pop these days. I mean, hey it got my wife into some metal which is dope. Not her style at all, but now we can vibe to some of the more poppy cuts together
I love spiritbox. We all love em right? Though I'd love to see angry, evil, chonky spiritbox return at some point. I find myself returning to Beauty of suffering and belcarra more often lately

I’d bet my lunch money on this
I have nothing of substance to add, just realizing it's been a hot minute since I've seen that ghost in the shell logo.
The song loops well on its own too
When they play this live Josh does the harmonies with Courtney. Kinda wish they had that on record, it added a nice variation.
It’s there but very faint
Saw them recently and he did the Sam Carter parts for Yellowjacket
I miss his cleans in As I Lay Dying
Song was written before he was around.
Yeah my guess was this song was recorded before he actually joined.
Of course Nik can't handle the sun. He's nocturnal
Ba Dum Tss
yeah its in his name XD. "does what it says on the box" XD
Josh was one of the best possible additions to this band. I love this track.
I loved this song dude. They performed it live in Vancouver days before it was released and it is so good live. Also, Josh does backing vocals live a lot.
Also it is weird you mentioned ATB because they opened for Spiritbox.
I was there too and said the same thing about ATB! Coincidence? I think not! (But maybe it is lol).
Bout to see them in a couple weeks. Looking forward to hearing this live

This is their Secret Garden of their new music/album, I feel it in my metal bones.
This is definitely most similar to secret garden but not that similar at the same time.
Such a good song. One of my favorites.
It's more like the secret garden with rotoscope-Ep vibes, that's what I think here

They actually confirmed this on twitter
In fact, Courtney mentioned Tesseract and The Contortionist as some of their inspirations at a soundcheck/Q&A recently.
I really enjoy the way that these new Spiritbox songs are written. With the vibes, the awesome vocals. The time signatures.
