The more I listen to it the more I like. Just really dig the energy and vibe of the song. It’s definitely a more straight forward song for them but the core songwriting still feels strong.
Yeah it's def a hypnotic drum n bass vibe more than a metal track with peaks and vallys, def a hidden gem that a lot of people are gunna vibe hard to driving or riding the bus pondering their life without even realizing it. edit: plus the lead guitar at the end of the song is really emotional guaranteed going to be memorable after a few listens.
@@getbrutal4388 Yeah. I wish that outro was more drawn out and added much more to the structure. That guitar and instrumental in it give off chills down your arm.
This is giving me driving at night with the windows down and singing really loud, and I love every bit of it. First Better Lovers, then new Spiritbox? Feels like my birthday. EDIT Rule of Nines is my favorite Spiritbox track!
Agreed, the live version is so much better with him joining in. Hopefully it's just because he wasn't officially in when this was recorded. I think him and Courtney singing together creates some really exciting potential.
I really adore the drum patterns in this song, the second verse as you said just feels like it’s full of momentum, and I think Zev is mainly responsible for that. Favourite Spiritbox song has gotta be either Halcyon or Hysteria
Probably gonna be a little controversial here, but I think this is my favourite song of theirs now. Energy and flow! Ethereal and a hell of a vibe. I do like the breakdown heavy’s and when they go nuts, but I felt I needed a spiritbox track like this in my life. Josh sings alongside Courtney adding a whole new element to Spiritbox now, the future is bright!
I do love the melodic vibes in song!! I feel like this is the path I’d figure they’d approach which isn’t a bad thing at all. Kudos to you for being one of the few reactions up first. My favorite song from them soo far is Secret Garden rules of nine
I really feel like this song came out of the Eternal Blue sessions more than Rotoscope. It’s somewhat comparable to songs like Secret Garden and The Summit. That being said, I still really like this song. It’s gotta cool vibe to it, very floaty like you said Birb. Definitely a chill, late night drive kind of song!
Got to hear it live the other day before it dropped. Loved it then and love it now. Josh adds a whole other layer to the vocals for the band, and I’m here for it.
Birb: “headbang go woo” 1 second later “Woo!” I agree with you overall, it was a nice palate cleanser from the the Rotoscope stuff but is probably going to be background music
My personal favorite Spiritbox song is a nice tie between The Beauty Of Suffering and Sun Killer. I honestly loved the song. I thought it took the melodic aspects of the band’s sound and turned them up. Very reminiscent of Secret Garden. It definitely gave me some Northlane vibes (specifically, “Paradigm” and some of the songs from Obsidian without the screaming of course). It did feel like a nice blend of trance and rock music. My two genres I love. Overall, I loved it. I can’t wait to see what else is in store 💪.
Definitely tending to agree with your thoughts on this one. Feels like a very safe song for them, but I must say the production on it is absolutely incredible. Fav Spiritbox song is Constance, that song gets to me emotionally way more than I’d like it to (also new ST in like 4 hours)
Really liked the northlane vibes off this and courtneys voice is phenomenal. The guitars/drums were low key pretty intricate too. I really liked the chorus. Favorites songs are tough. Mara effect 3 and belcarra are up there
I really like this for how positive and vibey it is. You're right that the choroid isn't nearly as memorable as others but I'll put this on for a good time. Fav of there's may actually be Sun Killer. Weird pick but it's ominous nature and thunderous ending is the perfect album opener to me. Peace!
Dude saw them last Saturday in San Diego and live show was so cool!!! Cool live show with lights and effects. Super sick live!! They played this song!!
This song was an instant like for me, it just had that immediate connection value that certain songs have. To your critique about the song not having enough replay value because the chorus wasn't your favorite and how you were glad there wasn't a breakdown I think go hand in hand. We all know what Spiritbox as a band are capable of, but of course with songs like this they keep it interesting by holding back, and while breakdowns and harsh vocals are fun I really feel like this particular song was actually better for NOT having them. Last thing I'll say is catchiness is subjective, there have been songs I couldn't get into because the chorus hook didn't do it for me but in this case the chorus of this song is my favorite part. Maybe after a couple more listens you'll change your mind or maybe not, but again, subjectivity. For me this song was a 9.5/10, just a little extra spice on top would've made it a 10/10 🤘
Seeing this live at their first concert in Vancouver is something I'll never forget. I was hesitant with Rotoscope on first listen, but the more I heard it the more it grew on me. I feel like this is one of those songs. All in all, like you said, props to Spiritbox for trying new things, and they're an amazing band through and through.
My favourite SB song... Maybe Blessed Be? Or Perennial? Love the newer stuff too, Eternal Blue was my AOTY for 2021, and I really loved the Garbage-like vibe of the Rotoscope EP. Pretty much agree with your review of Void as well - although maybe I found the chorus a bit more memorable than you did? I really like the pause / drop - "(...) I need someone to break my (pause)... Faaaaal in to a place where I belong". Great song / hook writing there! Is it their best? No - not by a long way. But very vibey, and I expect it'll end up on my commuting playlist :-)
I agree, I wanted screams too, love her screams! But i still like the song very much, the Vibes of the song are somehow so beautiful (probably its her clean vocals, as always, she just has such pretty clean singing) and the drumming is groovy and catchy.
I like that it has this dreamy, poppy flowy feel but also has this chaotic quickness which the guitar notes and drum beat. Very cool. It’s a fun one but I agree it’s not too memorable. My favorite Spiritbox song is Perennial!
Great analysis bro. It’s a delicate balance between “chill” and “forgettable”, and I think this one teeters slightly towards the latter. It’s the kind of track I enjoyed a fair amount the first time, but feel less enthusiastic about with each listen.
I liked this a lot. I'm going to buy it right now. Spiritbox excels at vibey heavy song and only listening to this song once, it is stuck in my head. The hook is top tier. My favorite Spiritbox song is Eternal Blue. It's the culmination of everything that draws me to their music.
The more I listen to this song, the more cool stuff I notice in the layering of instrumentals. With that and the general vibeyness of the track, I think it's a good addition to the variety of their repertoire. I generally agreed with the pros and cons on my first listen, though. My favorite Spiritbox song is Hysteria, with The Beauty of Suffering as a close second.
This is my favourite song of theirs its great ! The chord / harmony combo in the chorus is unpredictable and it's satisfying when they match up for the last chorus
I agree with some others on here, in that it is a listen in the background type of song. i really enjoy the flow of the song and pacing of the song too. Just didn't really jump out at me. While i was ready for the heavy breakdown, it didn't hurt the song that it wasn't there. I agree, the drums were great and i appreciate the different style that Josh brings. Cant wait to hear him sing. Over all. it was good. My favs are Silk in the Strings and Electric Cross
This song has good vibes, so I dig it! Looking forward to hearing it live very soon! My favorite of all their songs would be Trust Fall. I would adore if they ever added it to the setlist someday
It was a blast seeing them play this live 2 nights ago before it was released today. The bassist’s scream/harmony with her sounded epic. This song got the place bouncin, then they played Gwen Stefani’s Keep on Dancin, then straight into Rotoscope. It was a giant party!
Saw them perform this live last night, days after they released it. It’s amazing live they are the future of the genre and we are seeing them take the next evolution of their journey.
It's pretty good for sure. Definitely different than their other material. This melody reminded me of a mixture of Eternal Blue, Secret Garden, and the chorus vocals reminded me of Rules of Nine. I'm with you, I can't wait to hear what material they create next
Eternal Blue is currently my favorite Spiritbox song, but the Mara Effect pt 1 is definitely up there too! Love the vibe of this song. I feel like the best recommended way to enjoy this song is with the windows down driving over the speed limit on country back roads
Well, my favorite Spiritbox songs are the ones more dreamy and easy to follow, like The Summit and Blessed Be, so this is right up my alley. And as you say, me being a drummer and having those amazing grooves on the drums really do make me like this song even more.
It's nice to have Spiritbox for all occasions! 😊 Heavy chugga chugga, vibey moods, and more sentimental...took a little while to remove any expectations, but i really love it.
i get why older fans dont vibe with newer Spiritbox songs, but I think stuff like this and the EP from last year is the perfect blend of their newer and older sound. It's accessible but still carries that melancholic tone. I actually disagree on the catchiness though, cause this song has been on repeat for me all morning EDIT: favorite Spiritbox song - Trust Fall
I love it! I played it ln spotify with a 6 second overlap to the next song, but with this being the only song on the Single (obviously) it felt like it never ended which I did enjoy 😄 7/10 for me to, definitely replay value to me though ❤
I love this track because it is different from what they normally do but it's also right in line with stuff like secret garden and the summit. I loved the feeling of floating but also moving at a thousand miles an hour that the vocals and instruments give
I think what really does it for me is that this song feels like a combination of their sound from "Eternal Blue" and ISSUES' "Beautiful Oblivion." Something about the ambience layering in this track is just *chef's kiss* I can agree with the idea that the song sounds "samey" but in the context of their discography I think it serves as a nice, what I like to call a "palate cleanser" track.
I enjoyed it, but I agree on all your points made and I’m sure they’ll bring more with the next singles to come. My favourite Spiritbox song is ‘Silk In The Strings’. What’s yours?
I think this song could be a grower. I agree with your point in that this song isn’t too surprising, but sometimes you don’t need every song to have a surprise. My favorite song has to be Silk in the Strings.
As a massive Spiritbox fan, this is admittedly very different from what I've been hearing from them - but it still sounds so vibey that I really can't help but bob my head along to the entire track. Plus, the ending of the song sounds like it could lead into another track...so I hope a new album is on the way this year!
This had a very Secret Garden + Rotoscope EP feel to me. That’s kinda the way I can think to describe it. And my favorite song by them (and honestly just in general) is Blessed Be.
I agree with the con of once you heard the chorus the song felt the same but at the same time I vibe with it too much to care🤣 I think this fits very well for them directionally.. Love the reactions as always❤️
I have three ways of processing a song: I can't get into it, I get into it after a few listens, or it instantly clicks with me. This songs falls into the later.
Going through the comment section I can easily see the metal puritans, while I got into their heavier stuff I can always appreciate their chiller songs since it’s a different yet still enjoyable vibe. I think people are holding onto the old stuff just a little too much and that’s fine if that’s all you want but they’re gonna continue to make this style of music and there’s gonna be tons more people that like it than don’t.
I'm not sure it's about anyone thinking one genre is superior to another, it's just a case of "I got into this band for X and now they're doing Y". Classic examples are Gojira and Opeth - lots and lots of people acknowledge that the music is good, just that it's not for them because they got into the band(s) for different reasons.
The instrumental section in this song is ridiculous live. I really love this single My favorite song is probably Constance, i love seeing them perform it live but i also love Silk in the Strings!
Completely agree, Ive listened to it like 5 or so times and the only bit I remember is the lead into the chorus. Which is a good part. But I hope the next songs have a bit more of a punch a bit more spice in them
There's good energy in this track, it keeps me moving. But it's so simple too. Maybe it will flow nicely on an album, especially if it transitions into something else smoothly. But I really want to hear them go back to the proggy djenty influenced sound. My favorite songs are still stuff like The Mara Effect, The Beauty of Suffering and Trust Fall.
I kind of agree, it was like Secret Garden or Eternal Blue without the variety and standout guitar work those had. Still a good song. Mara Effect Part one is my favorite SB track 🤙🏻
the video to this reminds me a lot of the visuals from Monomania (song & album) by The Word Alive tbh, very fitting. the one Spiritbox song i always come back to is Halcyon; hella underrated song. Void makes for a nice listen while it’s on, very pleasant to the ears.
I heard a live recording of this song a few days ago. Instantly liked it. I love this band so much 💙 Fav song... Hmm. Gotta be The mara effect (it might actually be my fav in general) 2nd place goes for Trust fall. It's really hard for me to rank other songs cuz they are just too good.
Man I jus miss their old style. They instantly became one of my favorite bands around the quarantine time frame with their demo and they’ve just moved away from that which is ok. Just wished it hit me deep like their old stuff
My favorite song is Everything’s Eventual So I kinda like the vibes of these songs cos I kinda gravitate to songs that aren’t overly heavy. Even tho I absolutely love the heavy stuff but for SB the non heavy stuff shines for me
Not my favorite spiritbox song, but I like it, i can vibe and node my head to this song, which was the point so I think nailed what they were trying to do
I gotta say this new songs is pretty cool, it's not a ground breaking or super heavy track sure, but I do enjoy the vibe and the overall way this song is going. To me this is still a good solid track on all instruments but I am not sure this track was meant to be a mind blowing track cause we sure know that they can write stuff like Rotoscope Hysteria, Constance, Secret Garden etc
The more I listen to it the more I like. Just really dig the energy and vibe of the song. It’s definitely a more straight forward song for them but the core songwriting still feels strong.
I actually like the feeling and vibe this song gives.
i agree
Yeah it's def a hypnotic drum n bass vibe more than a metal track with peaks and vallys, def a hidden gem that a lot of people are gunna vibe hard to driving or riding the bus pondering their life without even realizing it.
edit: plus the lead guitar at the end of the song is really emotional guaranteed going to be memorable after a few listens.
Sometimes with vocalists like Courtney it’s better to keep it simple and let them shine.
@@getbrutal4388 Yeah. I wish that outro was more drawn out and added much more to the structure. That guitar and instrumental in it give off chills down your arm.

night drive song was my first thought as well
I can get behind this analysis. Nicely put
And now new Sleep Token too!
I actually did this like 20 minutes ago and someone in front of me turned in their seat and were looking at me 😂
It's a crime that they don't have Josh's singing in studio version, but they have it live
He probably joined after this was recorded. It takes awhile to mix and master
I’m pretty sure it’s there on the chorus? The vocal harmony and then it drops to a background vocal
Didn’t know he was an official member, but that’s cool for both Josh and the band.
@@toyotaecw understandable. It was just a couple of days ago when it got announced

Favourite Spiritbox song has gotta be either Halcyon or Hysteria
This almost feels like a faster paced Halcyon.
@@InkAndPoet I can see that actually, just lacks the giant crescendo towards the end
The second verse is where mosh broke down when they played live in Milan. Hell of a show.
Really like this. Like a bittersweet form of springtime. Those drums just give perpetual motion throughout, relentless energy.
The guitar riffs throughout really hooked me.

Reminds me of a mix of 'Secret Garden' with their collab with Illenium 'Shivering'. I think that collaboration influenced this.

the video to this reminds me a lot of the visuals from Monomania (song & album) by The Word Alive tbh, very fitting.
the one Spiritbox song i always come back to is Halcyon; hella underrated song. Void makes for a nice listen while it’s on, very pleasant to the ears.
Their last album and EP were great. I enjoy this song as well.
Not my favorite per se, but this has seriously sold me on Zev's drumming. Really stands out across the whole track to me.
Zev is slowly proving himself to be an absolute monster behind the kit, while still keeping it musical and giving the song what it needs
Favorite Spiritbox Song(s)... Eternal Blue and the Beauty of Suffering
Thought about Void Of Vision because of the title 🙂. My favourite track might be Eternal blue, love the switch near the end
I heard a live recording of this song a few days ago. Instantly liked it. I love this band so much 💙
Fav song... Hmm. Gotta be The mara effect (it might actually be my fav in general) 2nd place goes for Trust fall. It's really hard for me to rank other songs cuz they are just too good.
Circle with me! It just hits me right through!
very safe song wont lie i was expecting like darko us levels of crazy with a song called "the void" but other than that im still jammin it
I’d listen to this song on a late night drive
Are we going to get a Sunshine by Beartooth reaction?
Loved it
Man I jus miss their old style. They instantly became one of my favorite bands around the quarantine time frame with their demo and they’ve just moved away from that which is ok. Just wished it hit me deep like their old stuff
My favorite song is Everything’s Eventual
So I kinda like the vibes of these songs cos I kinda gravitate to songs that aren’t overly heavy. Even tho I absolutely love the heavy stuff but for SB the non heavy stuff shines for me
First one I’ve liked so far, looks like the word Alives video
Not my favorite spiritbox song, but I like it, i can vibe and node my head to this song, which was the point so I think nailed what they were trying to do
I gotta say this new songs is pretty cool, it's not a ground breaking or super heavy track sure, but I do enjoy the vibe and the overall way this song is going. To me this is still a good solid track on all instruments but I am not sure this track was meant to be a mind blowing track cause we sure know that they can write stuff like Rotoscope Hysteria, Constance, Secret Garden etc
Favourite spiritbox is a close one between perennial and the mara affect part 2
