    I just realized after watching that you posted this 3 days ago. I recently bought an XL on eBay. '85 or '86 model with the HDC 65C. I already had 4 other saws, but I love these older pieces of equipment. This video has helped me tremendously. Now I'm just waiting on some parts so I can make the saw a little less bastardized.     Ive been following tin man with the 026. Funny you say that. Have had similar frustrations on generally every abusedstihl but neverhomelite.i enjoy fixing the old saws. You have helped me alot. Thx

    That was amazingly simple I ended up with that exact saw at an auction for $5 bar and chain was worth that but I do like hearing these older saws run. Might be just me, I cut my teeth on a Homelite C-72 and everyone knew I was cutting wood when they heard it.

    This 1988 XL is not a top handle saw anymore, like the earlier ones. It is more like a super 2, with a smaller engine CC and fuel tank.
