Hi Elias… My suggestion for a more coconut taste is to fry the fish in coconut oil. No matter how much coconut I put on the fish, the frying extracts the flavor, but when you fry it in coconut oil, the flavor fuses into the fish.
Elias has been in NC long enough that he's fell to the "Sea Mullet " Mafia . The Whiting are disappointed in you E. 😂😂😂😂

A decent day on the beach, with the best bait for lunch. Catch & cook is always interesting. Any pup that behaves in the kitchen is a good pup!
Skrimps for the sea mullet and shrimps for super!!! It would be interesting to see what you could catch in the surf casting jigs or maybe topwater at first light.
Think people get blues and Spanish mackerel like that when they’re feeding
i got one of those little rakes for sand fleas when i was down there. no luck but the shells you find 3-5 inches under the sand were wild... people would pay money for them and they're just right there in the sand.
Not only are you a great fisherman, but you seem to be a passable chef also. Say what you will, that looked like a Hella fun day at the beach to me.
That's a cool take on frying whiting .. I wonder if a coconut glaze or like a sweet chili sauce and apricot glaze like you see for shrimp would bring out the taste you were looking for ??
I love beach fishing,never catch a lot, but the air and the breeze are clean. There are places in England you can get stingrays but I've never fished 'em.
You can repair snapped butts all sorts of ways, internal tube prob best for that one but it's probably full of excess glue now !

Flick your line really hard when the stingray sucks to the bottom. The vibration gets them to move.
Such a tasty fish. Had no idea how good they were and was throwing them back!! Not doing that anymore. LOL
I love eating these fish fresh after the catch. I call them king fish up north. Great video, since I am a surf caster. Tight lines!

I guess I spoke too soon the other day when I said that I've never seen you surf fishing. This actually helps a lot from seeing that the whiting are there to knowing the sand crabs aren't. Just got a couple ultralight surf rods and some sand perch jigs from Top Notch Lead Heads in San Diego. Can't wait to hit the Outer Banks. Thanks for the advice the other day.

We catch a lot of whiting down here. I have not tried eating it. I will soon.

Fav. Fried fish: Try 2/3 instant potatoe flake, 1/3 parmigian cheese mixed as a breading. Fry in butter.
We all hate rays, but that initial run is always fun to watch! Better save that coconut for when you pick up a pomp next time dude
Elias your throw backs would be my main course for several meals. Many times I started fishing just like you only to catch few and either give my fish away or toss because of the poor catch. Still have fun regardless.

I always make a point of stepping on the tail of a stingray when dehooking it and if for some reason I need to lift it (I would take off the spur not the tail) as with the porcupinefish you grab them by the eye sockets using your thumb and middle finger of one hand of course you could always try lifting a stingray by the tail

Stingrays are only good for wrecking tackle screwing up your braid/line and stressing out your reels. Best thing to do is cut your line as soon as you know you have a ray on! Believe me after 40 yrs of dealing with these SOBs it will save you many headaches!😎

good presentation - you are a bit spoiled maybe - it looks fantastic - put them in sourdough buns next time with lettuce and tomatoes and some fancy sauce plus potatoes and a salad and a big fruit smoothie - total overkill but you need the full boat and such a nice incentive and reward. another good video - careful with the rays - you know, some people don't!

I've been handling stingrays without fear for 30+ years until a small one nailed me in the hand last year. DON'T EVER DO THAT!! This one area that you are better served never finding out. 0/10 experience, do not recommend. By the way I love the "Man that water looks good down there... NAH TOO FAR!" lol that's very me.
