This was the guy who defeated the Turks at Vienna and Europe didn't become Muslim in the 17th century.
Native Krakowian here - eating at these Christmas markets is the best way to spend twice the money on half the quality. Go for the visuals and get some mulled wine, sure, but other than that I strongly recommend eating somewhere else. For traditional home-made-style Polish food at a good rate, go to some of the government-subsidized milk bars ("bar mleczny"). Most of the cooks there are just retired women making an extra buck, but you can't beat a Polish babcia (grandma) when it comes to quality traditional Polish food cooking. I've eaten in quite a few of these for half the regular restaurant price and I was never disappointed.
Most famous Christmas Market is in Wrocław, looks stunning at night ). It is the largest winter market in Poland and has been visited by more than a million people last year (thus better to visit during workweek, due to weekend crowds).
Yes, almost every big city in Poland have their own Christmas market. You should definietly try "chleb ze smalcem" or "pajda ze smalcem" which is bread with pork lard, next dishes to try are "bigos", soup called "żurek" and more and more, i can write the dishes name all night :) I am personal from Poznań, but I heard that the biggest market is in Gdańsk.

Mulled wine "Grzaniec Galicyjski" is a regional wine from the south of Poland. I also saw Krakow's zapiekanki at the fair. I am surprised but also happy that they have Krakow's zapiekanki in Warsaw. However, the best ones are in Krakow, in the Kazimierz district. You should definitely try them there. You can buy them 24 hours a day. Currently, there are Christmas markets in all major cities. In Krakow, on the Main Market Square, of course.
Zapiekanki are not exclusively from Kraków, they are well known in the whole country. In 1970s communist government allowed to create a small, family owned food stands or food trucks. There were food shortages, and baguettes, mushrooms, onions, cheese and ketchup were cheap and more or less accessible, so zapiekanka was a queen of Polish street food for a very long time. Stalls in Kazimierz in Kraków are the most popular place, but you would find it in almost every town in the whole country, mostly at train and bus stations. They are served on gas stations etc.

Just back from warsaw christmas market very disappointed they were only about 5 stalls that sold christmas ornaments and the rest was food and drink plus the light were put off to the 7th December but they were small shops that are excellent best market I have been in is wroclaw
At the end of November, there's already a lot going on at the Christmas fair, it's nice to think what's going to happen when December 6th starts in earnest.

The ice ring was closed because it is not the time to start christmas time in Poland. In a week the old time square, Krakowskie Przedmiescie street and Nowy Swiat street will be full of lights, it looks wonderful every year.

Unforgettable place, u go to 1100 ft underground and this place is Huge (180 miles wide) has many attractions with amazing museum. Best of it is they started this mine in 13th century. It really is the problem especialy in summertime, some cities have some restrictions on (e.g. Kraków, I believe), but probably the worst place is Zakopane which I saw in the other video you are heading to right after Kraków. Just please keep in mind that those horses are usually (not saying always) very poorly treated if not simply abused, it's not cute, these animals are often short on basic needs (horses would literally be seen dying on the street or trail due to e.g. lack of water or heat or whatever the reason).
Oh no. That is so sad to hear. We do not stand for any type of animal cruelty so we will definitely not be doing it in Zakopane. Thank you for the information!

Sorry Guys BUT Warsaw has one of the worst Christmas markets in Europe! Wroclaw and Gdansk have some kind of Christmas Market Tradition and especially Gdansk is one of the top markets in Europe.

Hi, you should visit the Christmas Market on the Main Market Square (Rynek Główny) in Krakow , it's the biggest market square in Europe and at Christmas Market time it looks extraordinary. Highly recommended. Greetings 👋

Sorry Guys BUT Warsaw has one of the worst Christmas markets in Europe! Wroclaw and Gdansk have some kind of Christmas Market Tradition and especially Gdansk is one of the top markets in Europe.
