Awesome presentation. Down to earth and with some very practical hints for everyday work with FormIt. All thumbs up!!!

Great presentation guys. Just wanted to add concerning reat-time rendering. There was a question asked if Formit could linked with a real-time rendering program. It actually can, When you open Formit and go to the Plugin Manager tab on the bottom right and click on it, there is a Lumion LiveStream plugin that will be added to the Top tool bar. Enjoy

SketchUp is hard to beat for 3D modeling, it is just fun to use. I’ve tried Revit but for smaller residential projects I don’t think it is the right fit.

Formit is very late, but whem revit cames out in 2006, it was behind archicad and vector works, all plan. But now 15 years later is the best

Just found that customed shortcuts are available in FormIt 2023 under Edit/Preferences/Shortcut

Again, another great presentation I couldn't watch live. At the office I have my design team using Sketchup because that's what they know and I'm the only one familiar with FormIt and I love it. Could you share Andrells system specs ? My current setup doesn't have the snappy response seen on her presentation and I'm looking to get my work station upgraded.
Can't wait to for the wood/lumber show! But this one was the most interesting one so far.

I think it depends on what you want from the product and what you need it for. I personally prefer the 3D warehouse and the better way of creating landscape design in SketchUp. But for an objective comparison of programs, you might not watch videos from a channel called RevitPure, which has a guest working for a company that is an Autodesk Platinum Partner. The result is clear right from the start. 😉

I use FormIt only as a bridge from Sketchup to Revit, smooth surfaces. Thats all it is good for.

Looks like a sketchup clone with some additional bells and whistles, some menus look like direct copies?

No, Layout is a SketchUp tool to format your model into sheets with titleblocks.

@@kaisj7 SketchUp is good at what it does best: quick conceptual modelling. The problem is that the geometry cannot be used for any serious construction documents or for BIM / digital twins workflows. It seems like FormIt is at least trying to be a little more BIM-friendly.

Once BlenderBIM comes out of Alpha a lot of construction CAD programs will be in danger.

SketchUp just a cheap tool for students. Or for lazy old architects just don't wanna take time to learn anything new.
