New Content will be dropping over the weekend, anyhow at long last I got the Q&A done, sorry for the delay and to anyone who's questions I could not get reply too. I will answer any questions in the comments where possible 👍👍
That stuff about the jobs market in the trade was both a revelation and yet no surprise. We have fatally developed a generation which is over-educated and underskilled.
I have no reason to be interested in the cars you sell, but your honest nature and incredible car knowledge make your channel very watchable, thanks Lee, keep it up.
Much respect for you Lee I love the fact you've been pretty much involved in every aspect of the business from dropping the hammer to picking up a spanner keep it up if the channel is this popular now who knows where it could be in a few years but try to stay humble that's your appeal. "never in doubt" happy New Year 🎉🎉🎉
We'll Done Lee. Your amazing. Put so much into your Videos, comes as no surprise that within a year your up to 42000 subscribers, I'm sure it'll double in the next year. Hard working Bloke, transparent, fair, trading is no walk in the park, but you've still got bags of enthusiasm, without a doubt, if I was in your area, your pitch would be the main one id be beating a path to for my kids first cars.
Great video this lee and shows you care about you're viewers to spend an hour going through people's questions, hope 2024 is a great year for you and the channel 🙂👍
I only found your channel the back end of last Yr. I thought you'd been at it for years on TH-cam due to the quality of content. You've definitely got a gift for it.
Lee, you remain a real inspiration. many thanks for taking the time out of your holiday to answer my and many others questions. I just wonder if you'll make enough out of this video to cover the cost of bribing Mrs Car UK to let you do it? back in the day I was an indentured apprentice and over that period we had two YTS trainees back-to-back. you hit the nail on the head about the value of solid trade apprenticeships vs the treatmill into often pointless university degrees. the current fools in Downing Street have atleast brought back a sort of apprenticeship scheme but from my experience its actually little more than a tax-dodge by major employers owing to the very wide age range applicable. maybe the next government will, amongst all the other things they have to fix, rework tradey training into something real again.
Great video Lee, I'm always surprised at the condition people present cars for test when I take one of ours. I have always looked after our cars and spend several hours prepping them inside and out before a test which I've always thought helps. Cheers K.
Really interesting insights into your business. Thanks for taking the time to make this. You come across as a very trustworthy motor trader who I'd be happy to buy off. Happy new year Lee and I look forward to your uploads during 2024.
Never heard of an Abarth Fiat Stilo and no one in the comments seems to have had one so I looked it up. They are still out there, even the older ones so must be a lot better screwed together than the standard version. Tidy looking hot hatch sort of thing with a 2.4 engine. Anyway, thanks for the upload Lee.
Running your own business is a step that frightens many, but you seem to approach it in a way many could learn from, wish you every success as you put the graft in,look forward to this years content.
2023 sounded like a great and varied year for you Lee, the You Tube success is absolutely well deserved. All the best for 2024 and I'm looking forward to future videos 👍
I have been one of your first subscribers because of your honesty and tell us how to look over and find the faults so when any of us goes to auction sites can look for things so once again Lee thank you and god bless🎉
Fantastic contents. I'm grateful for all the time, knowledge and effort you give your audience. You're one decent and outstanding man in this trade, Lee.
I’d like to thank you for taking the time to explain everything about your journey for the motor trade, and I’m enjoying watching your content keep up the good work 👍
I really admire natural business people like yourself. It's a quality that escapes me. I've been self-employed since 1998 in initially in architectural design but mostly in providing educational/domestic IT support services. By definition I guess that makes me a business person as well but in reality I have always 'played' at the edges and have made very modest money as a result. So many areas of growing business, becoming an employer, owning premises/stock/assets, VAT etc etc., are as mysterious to me now as they ever have been. If I am a 'business person' I'm about as unnatural as they come, although in my defence neither myself or my business partner have ever had 'a visit' from the tax office or bank, so I must have done something right! Now semi-retired... Anyway, I think you're brilliant and really appreciate your honesty, especially from a trade that doesn't have the best of reputations! Might get over to Crewe at some point (if daughter decides to buy some wheels 😅) to say hello. Greetings from Macclesfield...
Yes, I was a yopper and then it changed into YTS it was great. I did 2 weeks at college in every trade so you got experience in all the building trade. Only problem now is not many folk want to get their hands dirty. I have been a joiner to trade and although I retired from Fire Service I have always did homers and have all the tools and big van so again you are correct to keep your MOT licence, no one knows the future. Because I have the joinery skill meant I was never out of work for more than 2 weeks in my life. I can see you are now trying to get away from physical work and do more presenting. I would go back to college and train in filming if I wanted to do videos. 😉😉

Hi Lee. Appreciate you taking time out of your holiday to answer our questions. Interesting video and looking forward to future content. Dave Birmingham
Love this channel and happy to hear it's continuing success and the plans for the forthcoming year. Had a Fiat brava back in the day that Fiat after 3 attempts, including six weeks off the road, and many technicians ( including a guy specially brought up from Slough ! Yeh Right? ! ) couldn't fix the ECU blowing up every three months. Traded it in for a vectra!

I agree, the modern apprenticeships are ineffective compared to the old youth training schemes. (YTS). The entry requirements into college to study construction is preventing many able teenagers from succeeding.
Agree, silly system which is focusing to much on reading and writing rather than skills. some people are just never going to be great at reading and writing, English and maths etc, so focus on the strengths.
I left school and had no idea what I wanted to do. Did one month of manual labour and decided that was not me. Ended up in an insurance claims office basically coz waiting for my interview I could see lots of attractive young ladies in the foyer and thought this will do. Forty years later I retired on a couple of good pensions still waiting for the right job to come along lol. Life is not always predictable. I'd disagree with your views on Uni Lee - my two kids went and both got firsts. The eldest is a middle manager in a large well known retailer the youngest works in retail too. You could argue she doesn't use her degree but she is happy living at home with us and doing what she does. Thing is all that education through 6th form and Uni encouraged their ability to think critically and analyse things thus making them more rounded and that in itself is worth it.
thanks for watching, just to clarify I am not against people going to uni, I just feel we pushed a lot of people over the last 20 years who were not academic into that path rather than hands on skill base professions and trades
Don't know how i missed this video as an avid watcher Lee, man close to my own heart for near enough 15 years i use to go to the Canaries for Xmas and New year. Twice to Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen ( heart attack hill ) were we stopped . Fuerterventura twice Carralejo which is less than 2 miles obviously by sea from Puerto del Carmen to Carralejo & Puerto Rico & playa del Ingles Gran canaria 8 years on the trott. Never once been to Tenerife for Xmas as 1 year my father who sadly passed away last week was in los cristianos and my wife daughter and i was in Puerto Rico we spoke on Xmas day and while it was glorious in Gran canaria it was torrential rain in Tenerife'. So put me off going at all for Xmas as you will know its too bloody expensive to be in the Canaries at Xmas to have rain. Unfortunately i can't go away now for Xmas as my daughter has left home and im now single. Happy new year as ever brilliant.I know of someone who had a yellow stilo Abarth and now has an Abarth 500.
I forgot about this 😂, had a few questions but il keep them for podcast... great idea to be fair hopefully get a few other youtubers on board. Hard works paying off Lee, well done fella
Hi Lee, great channel and really looking forward to the upcoming videos on how to get into buying / selling cars too. BTW you made my night by mentioning the Fiat Stilo, as my current car is a 2006 Stilo 1.6 SW [ Estate] !!!
Hi Lee, was wondering if it was you who did the FOI request of the DVLA about the facts behind vehicle ownership, rather than keeper as stated on the V5? This is something I've been trying to find out more about. Cheers, Mark
Always wondered how the MOT testers felt about dirty cars... Will always make sure when I send it for MOT it's clean inside and outside.,no child car seat, nothing in the boot, nothing on the windscreen tends to be a quick MOT😊😊
Wilsons good for non trade but there is a canny price hike. Non trade I bought a car for 550 it was 840 out the door. Bought a car trade for 1000 it was just over 1220 out the door and I think more you buy that drops more. Good structure and a decent physical auction
@carukchannel they do go down the more you buy. I don't buy that many off them, I tend to use BCA more now, I like a physical auction but spent plenty of time farting on and coming home with nothing. I use Newcastle and have to say the staff are great, really helpful and always feel welcome. A more recent one I got off them for 800/993. I did have a copy of the fees but can't find it
Love the video's have you thought about doing used car reviews and telling people what to look for if buying one. Most people buy cheaper cars, but most reviews are on when new cars are released not on a 10 year old car. Have a good new year
Remember the Lancia Beta? They would rust and rot whilst you were working on them.Lancia's name was trashed by this model. They were so bad that Lancia offered to exchange your rotted car for a brand new one.
Great channel I've been watching your channel for a while just never commented before now. Very informative. And fair play to you 👏 keep up the good work 👏 😊
Hi it would be good to hear from you on how to check out a secondhand car from a garage and experience of doctored cars such as sympathetic MOTs and Mayo cleaned out of Header Tanks etc What to look out for from the not so honest traders out there
My uncle who is no longer with us bless apparently started the 1st car supermarket in the Midlands Ken Foster.. I wonder if anyone on or you yourself remember ken.. 😊
Very interesting content, never miss an upload. The live auction stuff for me is the best. Hopefully the big lumpy stuff, JLR continues to haemorrhage for a few months until I accumulate enough wonga to get a Rangerover. What ya think is the best value in the LR/RR models? Cheers. 👍👍👍
Hi Lee. Happy new year. A very informative video. I was interested in your warranty points. Have you noticed much difference in the assurances to customers since the sale of Goods and Services act was incorporated into the 2015 Consumer Rights act? Might it be worth offering all you cars with a free six month warranty: since this already exists within the act to a certain extent?
Not bad choices, both can suffer with noisy gearboxes so make sure you take them on a good test drive. The skoda will feel better quality over a alto but you will get a new alto for the same money as the skoda
I enjoy watching you, you have a face for radio though 😂😂😂 Only joking, you could actually be on the telly. A wheeler dealer type program, but like how it used to be.
Really good channel , been watching from the start. I've asked this before but not answered, but. Do you ever sell cars as they come rather than do them up abit
great info as ever Lee, i did have a question. A lady i know has a 2009 bmw 1 series 2 ltr diesel for sale with 165k on it, tidy car but is cat s. i can buy it for reasonable price, but should i? are cat car worth buying, do they sell? thanks Phil
You get more for your money with a cat S car and why not buy it as presumably it's been repaired propperly on average they are worth about 25-33% less than a car of the same model year etc , so if a car was worth say £3000 a Cat S would be worth £2000 . They for some reason are more expensive to insure as well.
No i dont use BCA, yes I noticed the video he did. Filming the auctions at bca is a big no no. They have form for banning customers in the past for doing that.
Lee I am 21 years old and have been in the motor trade full time for a year now. I would really appreciate if you could give me a bit of advice on something. From what I understand motor trade insurance companies only allow people 23 years of age or older to drive their cars about using trade plates, which has been really frustrating for me as I have to get my Dad to drive all of my stock about for me ie to the mechanics etc. I know you said you started when you were 17, did you face the same issue or do you know any way around the matter other than putting temp cover on each car which I have done a couple of times but costs a lot and is frustrating especially as I am paying for the trade insurance. If anyone in the comments could help i’d really appreciate it aswell
A lot has changed since I took out Trade insurance, my first policy was at 18. It is far easier even today to obtain a combined policy than a roadrisk policy, however if your home trading its only the Road risk side you need. Have you been getting any quotes at all ?
@@carukchannel Unfortunately Lee I can’t find any insurance companies that will even entertain motor trade insurance for anyone under 23 so it has always had to been my dad taking out the motor trade insurance in his name. Very frustrating when i’m trying to transport cars around, I guess they must have changed the insurance terms since you were young.
Hello Lee my name is Lee to I would like to get some help I don't no prices of vans and I am in the north east of England I have saved 6 thousand pounds to purchase a van to help out my local charity in handing out sleeping bags and food but what type of van and age shud I be looking to get for 6 thousand pound I am still saving but I am not working at the minet thank you so much Lee and hop to here from you soon
This is far and away the best auto dealing channel, Lee, you’re so honest, hardworking and fair😊
He waffles like f*ck answering father than getting to the point- what do you mean ?

Lee, what is a fair price to pay for a deep, clean valet inside only. If you don't mind me asking, what do you pay as a trader.
great info as ever Lee, i did have a question.
They for some reason are more expensive to insure as well.
have you been to BCA i saw the shifting metal guy he went massive amount of cars
No i dont use BCA, yes I noticed the video he did. Filming the auctions at bca is a big no no. They have form for banning customers in the past for doing that.
i think he got special permission as he was invited to go @@carukchannel

@@carukchannel Do you know any young traders lee that might be able to give me a bit of advice?
