In my opinion I thought this was the most bad ass scene Bc they both have gun weapons and have similar yet different ways of thinking in their morals and philosophies
What makes this fight so amazing is that it’s so unique compared to previous RWBY fights, but not just cuz it’s a pure gun duel, but rather it’s a fight in which both combatants are using /completely/ different approaches of combat to win. Ironwood is the more traditional RWBY fighter, he uses more physics defying combat styles along with moment boosting weapons to overpower his opponent. Watts however is not, he’s a tactical cheater who is fully aware of his own strengths & limits compared to the other combatants in his world, so he manipulates the stage to fight FOR him & is constantly retreating to deny James the chance of physically overpowering him. The entire fight is him going “I know I can’t beat you in a typical fight, so I WILL NOT ALLOW THIS TO BE A TYPICAL FIGHT.” It’s so great cuz it’s the only battle in the show like this so far. It’s almost like a RWBY character vs a normal Human in some respects.
I think that was just his ego showing. Like he needed to verbally confirm that he was closer to the last shot which would kill James. He's a very... Theatric man.
@@NecessaryNonsense990 In reality, the high ground is like 2 to 1 advantagous in melee combat. Otherwise, fire, guns, and other factors it's a hill to die on. Being downhill is a 3 to 5 disadvantage in nearly all scenarios.
This has to be my favorite fight in the series. It's not over the top with flashy scenes or rapid movement. The fight is focused with two men trying their best to kill each other. In tone, it is so much different than any fight in the series.
rpsyco, yeah. It reminds me of the first fight between Qrow and Tyrian, but even that fight was fast-paced and bombastic. This is guns and fists. If it weren't for the gravity factor, this would probably be the most realistic fight in the series.
Yeah, this fight alone made me think how much better the series is getting in terms of animation of plotting. Its got along way to go from the rock bottom it started at, but its progressed in leaps and bounds.
man, i got to admit. its weird seeing 2 dudes fight with just normal guns on this show. none of the guns transform into any crazy melee weapon or anything like that.
His revolver is completely impractical, so he's forced to count his bullets. If he had a gun with bottomless magazines like the other characters, he might've fared better
Watts counting from 19 to 13 was well counted after the melee fight at 1:13 Watts shoots twice and then says 10, if you watch frame by frame, the first shot actually shot 2 bullets at the time at 1:32 he shoots two bullets at a time again followed by a one bullet shot, then he says 7 everything goes fine there. however, 1:59 6 bullets remaining. after that they start to barrage each other with bullets, and watts shoots 5 times (and none of them seem like a double bullet shot) that means he got 1 bullet remaining to which was never used afterwards TL;DR = Watts had one shot remaining but Ironwood fooled him by saying that he's not the only one who can count.
after the ice shot to ironwood's leg and ironwood shoots at the ice to break free the cam is zoomed on watts and he makes a shot then after the cam zooms out ironwood shoots and watts shoots again but neither of both shots look like a double bullet shot if you watch frame by frame because the first shot wasn't even shown while the second is clearly one bullet then after that he shoots 3 more times = 5 bullets out of 6 that he had remaining
Okay, so, because I see a few comments agreeing about how Watts should count in his head, I feel like I _should_ mention that he... can't? The reason I say that is because the dude spends the entire fight controlling the field, thinking about using, disabling and enabling this or that platform with gravity, activating this or that water geyser or lava trap, aiming with the gun, etc. Because of all that, if the dude _actually_ counted in his head, the numbers would be hella jumbled and he'd lose count/focus after taking like 3 hits. Ironwood, on the other hand, basically just had to worry about moving well, dodging and firing (to oversimplify.) It's not any easier, but it makes it way easier for him to count in his head. Watts also makes sure _never_ to count right in front of Ironwood and always whispers silently, so, it's not like he's being stupid about it. Hope this helps! I'm not trying to be patronizing to anyone here, I'm just a random dude who's seen a lot of gunfights, so, this gimmick is familiar to me. It's also a great narrative trope to make it feel more realistic for us, the viewers.
The counting seems to be a stylistic choice. Fight scenes where the characters say nothing tend to be really awkward and strange, so adding lines so that a character can speak not only helps give more sound to the fight, but the countdown aspect of the counting also contributes to a feeling of rising tension.
To add some senses about Ironwood unable to hear the counting, with the fact he whispers of course x3 When they shoot each other at 0:54, you hear Watts counting only when the "camera" is behind him, not at first when you see Ironwood.
What I love about this song is that it's written from the point of view of Ironwood. And not only that, it shows that protecting people is more important to him than beating Salem. He isn't doing what he thinks is necessary to fight her, he's doing what he thinks is necessary to save as many people are he can. It's a small difference that changes his character completely.

Yeah, right. Metaphor, my ass, it is typical trolley problem
Despite having the least flashy choreography, this was my favorite fight in Volume 7 It has two fun gimmicks (gravity manipulation and bullet counting) and a much more down to earth tone than the rest of the series' fights.
So Watt's fighting style involves keeping his distance while utilizing his tech rings he has crafted over the years allowing him to control the environment around him/ create hardlight constructs and get the hit on his opponents via his 20-clip revolver pistol. The fighting style of a huntsman who uses his brains. So knowing Watts, he basically defected from Atlas because Ironwood never respected him and even passed him aside for another person despite having contributed more to Atlas than anyone ever could.

Okay, now you have me imagining Caleb Hyles actually being a physical presence in the scene just singing away while the two men of impressive facial hair ignore him and fight.
Watts is the smartest man this series has to offer, and he's jealous that Ironwood choose Pietro (Penny's daddy) over him. But this is would of happened if John Watson teamed up with James Moriarty.
@Levi Brennan If those two actually fell in love and got married in Wicked. Wicked Witch of the East screwed that deal over. But no, we get the divorce measure.
Watts isn’t a strong fighter, but he’s a good one. He knows he’s lacking and can’t make up the difference so he looks at every tool, his terrain, all the different combinations and what plan will eventually be the best to put into action. The only thing I have to say is slight overconfidence. When ironwood flanked him instead of chasing, he looked for ironwood then got smug when he couldn’t see him, assuming he couldn’t keep up rather than thinking he did something unexpected
@@adamhughes4387 I'd have said his biggest vice is envy. He faked his death, joined Salem's side, plotted revenge, orchestrated countless murders... on a grudge because Ironwood picked a different project over his? Hell, even his aura is green with jealousy.
Yep, he's a tactician, not someone who fights at the front. He knows he would not win a close quarters fight with Ironwood, James is too strong physically so he uses his cunning intellect instead to disrupt James as much as possible.

Credit where it’s due: for Salem’s Evil Genius (and by particular train of logic, probably the physically weakest of her inner circle) Watts put up a hell of a fight, here. If he was fighting literally anyone else that lacked the extreme resolve Ironwood had (or wasn’t as creative), he probably would have won hands down, and I can probably safely say he would have easily killed Jaune or Ren, probably even Weiss or Blake, definitely kill Penny if he could get close enough, and at least defeat Ruby, Oscar, or Nora in this same setup. Seriously, for the Evil Genius, he’s a pretty high tier fighter as far as RWBY is concerned if he gets time to set up.
His strength is calculating and predicting others' moves. Notice how he is very precise with how and where he shoots, while Ironwood is more focused on physically fighting. Truly, brains and brawn 👏
Ehh, I don't know about "a hell of a fight". He missed two perfect opportunities he had to shoot Ironwood. When Ironwood was slammed into the wall by the shift in gravity, Watts just stood there and stared. When Watts froze Ironwood's leg, once again, he just stood there and stared. That's without mentioning the fact that if he had just been smart enough to bring extra ammunition to reload his gun with or at the very least a knife, he could have killed Ironwood when he caught his hand in the energy field.
Oh please. Ruby should be able to decimate Watts, even here where Watts has the advantage. She's faster, shoots better, presumably hits harder, and can't be trapped like Ironwood was so long as she can use her semblance. Weiss is also used to... combat in environments with rapidly shifting gravity. She'd be fine. Blake, Ren, Oscar, and Jaune would struggle because of their lack of range and/or mobility. Watts compromised Penny's vision before - wouldn't expect her to be able to do anything except die against him. Nora and Yang might be able to power through Watt's tricks, but probably not.
Overwatch_God they both sustain further injuries in a rapid, violent manner following the end of this video in this scene. It’s not much longer, but this video does not include the whole thing and says it’s the whole fight
It's so interesting that Ironwood got his theme song called "Hero" literally 15 minutes before he became the anti-hero. It's a nice contrast and it shows that even if he wants to be a hero and wants to do the right thing, his fear and paranoia won't let him. Am I the only one thinking about this every time I rewatch this fight?
Na, he ain't an anti-hero. He's a soldier. He's doing the correct thing. Maybe not the RIGHT thing, but what is likely the best choice that can be made short to an honest to god miracle. And to be fair, his fear and paranoia are really justified: Watts and Tyrian were sneaking around causing , Jacque almost fucked everything, Ruby hid the truth of Salem from him, fucking Blake and Yang ruined his plan and told the annoying prick and then when a giant army of Grimm come he is forced to make the decision to sacrifice the many to save a few or risk losing all to save everything. On top of that was the shit at Beacon where he was kinda proven right but also had to be the one to take the blame for the hacking of his androids due to a bad decision by him that he couldn't have foreseen.
@@mitchellmitting6678 He wasn't right. Virtually everything that went wrong can be tied to his decisions. He created the political crisis that Watts exploited to his advantage. He's directly told how he looks like a tyrant to others and straight up says he dosent care, even though negativity and division=Salem wins. Ruby lied to him because he was looking shady as hell, wich as he's shown was the right call. Blake and Yang telling Robyn led to the closest thing resembling progress and he screwed things up yet again. The stuff at beacon Especailly dosent prove him right, he was told by Ozpin several times that his military presence was a bad idea, and during the fall of beacon Cinder uses the military presence to cause distrust and make the fall of beacon worse
@@brianbrush5107 I think it's hilerious you start by saying "He wasn't right". I said he wasn't right, I said he was correct. Sure, everything can be led back to his decisions, but the reasons he's decisions ended badly wasn't exactly his fault alone, but the fault of those around him too. Ironwood didn't exactly CREATE the political crisis, that was simply elections. Sure, Jacque only was in it to make the Embargo end, but it was Watts that pushed Jacque with promises to ensure his victory, not Ironwood's actions. And sure, to some he looked like a Tyrant, but there was no magical solution he could pull out of his ass to fix this, and while sure, many probably saw him like that, I guarantee that there was not a majority that said that because if there was, the Council would have had to take action sooner, not act solely because Jacque AND ROBYN said he was up to shit. And sure, division and negativity are not doing him favours, but Ironwood's plan wasn't "Make everything better", it was him trying to be proactive and united the entirety of Remnant against Salem. Sure, life being a bit rougher would suck, but momentary suffering for a greater good was a decision he had to make. As for Ruby, she lied to him because she didn't want to tell him he's plan was futile. He thought that if Remnant knew the truth and went to slay Salem, they could finally have peace. Ruby SHOULD have told him what Jinn said before everything went to hell in a hand basket, with a Grimm invasion in process, just off a fight and rejecting the offers of the most powerful beast in reality. Blake and Yang were THE BIGGEST fucksticks this volume. Not only did they exasperate the relationship between RWBY and Ironwood, but actively betrayed him and told the truth to an unknown individual that could be all manner of compromised and risky, not to mention Robyn was a variable that did not need to be involved with the plan to begin with, she was basically a thief and terrorist making life hard for the Atlas military because SHE had an issue with Ironwood's actions. So instead of just focusing on winning the election, she was causing all manner of grief for Ironwood, which allowed Tyrian to feign Penny being the attacker during the rally. As for Beacon, sure, maybe his military presence wasn't the best idea IN hindsight, but how was he to know Cinder's plan was to hijack his forces? And think about the Breach, how many did they save due to their presence there, and how many did the living members of his military save? As for distrust, well, that would have happened anyway, just not directed at Atlesian forces, but Huntsmen themselves. Ozpin wasn't exactly right or wrong. He was used to Salem and his war being more subtle, less overt, and Cinder was doing something completely unexpected by both him and Ironwood.
@@mitchellmitting6678 It very much was the majority, both sides of the election ran on "Ironwood sucks", and both poor and rich people hated his guts. When he finds out about Salem being invincible, be dosent say "oh well I guess the plans ruined", in fact the only issue with the plan was that they could not launch amity tower. He could have, for one, not be so militaristic, wich is what Ozpin kept warning him and helped the villains in the fall of beacon, he could have at the very least tried to deny that his critics Deaths were his doing, instead of going "I don't care what people think of me". Those are all things he could have done, and no he didn't know what SPECIFICALLY Salems faction would do like with the election, but he still created issues for them to exploit. Issues he should have known better not to cause. And you can't say that he didn't know things would go wrong because SEVERAL characters point out huge issues with his plans. But he's to stubborn to listen. And Ironwoods plan SHOULD be "make everyone feel better", disregarding the feelings of the public and letting negatively spread is the absolute stupidest thing you can possibly do when your fighting villains who rely on there being negativity to win. Ironwoods solution is the equivalent of putting out a fire with a Flame thrower. There was no reason to Suspect Robyn, her whole deal was trying to end the suffering and distress going on in Mantle, wich if successful ruins any Plans Salem would have, on top of her followers getting killed by Salems forces. And she didn't steal just cause SHE had issues with Ironwood, she stole because mantle needed those recourses, and Ironwood claiming they were going to a good cause meant nothing as he actively made himself out to be the least trustworthy person in the world. He may not have been able to predict that specific scenario, but he was told that having the miltary around would give the wrong idea that they may have been preparing for war, wich is what Salems followers used.
I think you should give the show a shot again, if you liked this fight I'm sure you'll love the rest in Volume 7 and 6, the fights improved a lot along with the animation, plus V6 and 7 are considered in the top 3 for a lot of people. :)

This scene is an analysts DREAM. It's my favourite fight in the whole series and I will stand by that forever The way they both use similar weapons in COMPLETELY different ways, The way Watt's is visibly more of a defensive fighter, dodging James' attacks and using his environment to defeat his opponent, While James is a much more offensive fighter, focusing on catching up with and physically fighting his opponent You almost never see these differences in RWBY fights, the only time I can really think of is Blake vs Adam in v6, where Blake is trying to run away from him. I love that Watt's is keeping track of his shots, and that its revealed that James is managing to keep track as well
This fight was amazing, but the music made it just perfect. Caleb’s vocals help show the pain and passion of Ironwood during this fight. I appreciate it so much.
Honestly still my favourite fight in RWBY. I just adore how similar yet different their fighting styles are, both gunslingers but Watts being so clearly outmatched and having to use the environment so creatively to even the odds, I love it. And god damn, that first lyric at 0:50 gets me every time.
So, I was originally planning to post the Qrow, Clover, and Robyn vs Tyrian fight today, but instead I will combine that fight with the Qrow vs Tyrian vs Clover next week.
Tony Nguyen Hey do you think you could upload the R C Q vs Tyrian fight on its own? It just has a completely different vibe from the fight that comes after it but I don’t think smashing them together would make much sense.
It is interesting seeing that Watts does everything he can to keep his distance knowing Ironwood is a better fighter than him. He is smart and how he fights actually shows this.
I know right, the singing at the start sounds awful! It gets better later, yeah. But the first few lines of singing are just....... it hurt my ears and my soul.
honestly, that fight was kinda really bad. I have no idea what caused the dip in quality, but all of a sudden the show went back to showing full shots of attacks landing in closeups that episode instead of cutting on the action, and in general there was a sense of weight that was lost. It's a shame, because season 7 has honestly been the best since monty so far.
@@ihave2cows tf are you talking about that fight had probably the best animation in the series after Monty's passing Their was constant movement in every scene of the fight

This is one of my favorite fights in the entire series. This fight really gives credit to each fighters respective skills. Ironwood is a lot more of a physical fight her whereas Watts relies on his smarts.
Its quite different from a typical RWBY fight, but probably one of my favourites. Its really well executed. Great use of the evironment, interesting clash of styles, and some excellent camera work. I think the way they're using the camera during fight scenes is a big reason why they've felt a lot better since V6.
I love this fight for a lot of different reasons (The arena and abilities being such a unique contrast to the other fights for one), but especially for just how EXCELLENT it is at portraying who these two people actually are. You see Watts being clever and tricksy and using everything around him to his advantage, and you see Ironwood brute-force his way through everything (While also not being stupid, with the 'youre not the only one who can count' line), and you know exactly who these characters are, whether or not you've watched a single episode of rwby. The scene directly after this fight is also so good at showing the culmination of Ironwood's character arc and what exactly he's /become/ at the end of all of this, because like. Watts won this fight. It was through some last minute trickery, sure (that's kind of his whole thing), but if he was against literally anyone else and caught them in the hard-light trap, they probably would've cut their losses and let him get away. But of course, stubborn Ironwood who would do anything it takes to win wouldn't have that, and chooses to destroy himself, because of course he would. I have a lot of feelings about this fight and Ironwood specifically, and while (spoiler) I know we've probably seen the last of him and Watts (or at the very least Watts), I would not complain if they somehow survived all of that and we got to see more of them.
God "hero" is such a good song and the lyrics work so well for his character especially coming out of volume 8 " he made so many sacrifices that he didn't need to just to get what he wanted
I tried looking at this fighting without the rest of v7 as context, and I’m pretty impressed. At first glance, Watts is the smart one and Jame is the brute. Watts is controlling the battlefield and making James play catch-up. James dominates in close combat, so it makes sense that Watts outsmarts him. James fires his guns pretty recklessly while Watts tracks his shots. But then James starts shaking things up. He doesn’t fall for Watt’s trap twice, but turns it around on him. He can’t use Watt’s environmental controls against him, so James makes sure not to give him the chance to use it. And while definitely fitting the brute-force fighter, he catches on pretty quickly on how to cut the bullshit and keep his opponent in punching range. And then we get to the final scene, where oh-so-clever Watts has his gun to Jame’s head, only to have his bluff called with “you’re not the only one who can count”.
I think Dr. Watts was the most interesting antagonist of Salem's inner circle, since unlike Cinder, Hazel, and Tyrian, he has no super strength, semblance, or fancy show off power/sword-gun-tuba whatever to back him up. Instead he relies on his intelligence to get by, and it was him, Tyrian being the tool in his experiment, tonsow discord and vulnerability into Atlas for Salem to conquer. For a quirkless dude, that's pretty impressive.
I wonder if the director has scene the anime “hitman reborn”. The flying gun movements that general ironwood uses are very similar to xanxus. Increased movement speed, flight, and instant direction changes due to the gun fire.
SPOILER: I thank the writers but Ironwood wasn’t the smartest with that one instead of killing basically a man with war crimes and basically a terrorist he attempted to kill Oscar
just another phenomenal fight in a volume full of excellent fights, volume 7 is easily the best volume of the show. can’t wait for V8 after what the finale teased, we are SO screwed lol
This is probably the best and most badass moment for Ironwood. I just hope he doesnt stay as antagonist for long and gets redemption. He is a great character and one of my favorite supporting characters.
I honestly see Watts making a lot of tactical errors in this fight. 0:26: Not taking a shot while Ironwood is suspended in anti-gravity and visibly caught off-guard. 0:58: Deactivating his shield, which allowed Ironwood to more easily shoot him during antigravity. 1:41: He could have fired a shot at Ironwood while he pulled himself up, during which he'd be very vulnerable. I guess maybe he didn't know Ironwood had caught the ledge in the first place. 2:01: After freezing Ironwood in a position where he can't move, he neglects to fire another shot at center mass which Ironwood would be unable to evade at this point. 2:08: Running toward an enemy clearly better than him in close quarters combat. Even if Watts didn't know it before this fight, he would've known it after their brief fistfight. For such an intelligent character I find many of these sort of hard to believe, but maybe there's context from the show I'm missing.
This really is the best fight scene from this show in a long time. Every time I rewatch it I notice more and more subtle things. It trades flash for substance and I like it.
The writers did Ironwood dirty in this volume. I get trying to keep things together and being pushed to the limit, but shooting people that disagree with him makes no sense.
This was one of my favorite fights of the volume, the environment is fun, the pistols are simple and similar to each other, no flashy moves, and we knew before this that Ironwood and Watts have some kind of history.
I'm glad rooster teeth takes criticism, like how we complained about Adam not being a satisfying last villain for volume 6 because he just appears at the end and throughout this whole volume they made me hate Watts so much that it was so satisfying to see Ironwood punch him (same with Tyrian except he wins so I'm hyped up for volume 8)

Yeah, this fight alone made me think how much better the series is getting in terms of animation of plotting. Its got along way to go from the rock bottom it started at, but its progressed in leaps and bounds.

Deadpool: (about Watts) At least he counts his bullets, unlike the other guy.
This comment is underrated😂😂😂
Yo im dumb I didnt even realise that was why he was counting 😥
Then again neither wore the brown pants
His revolver is completely impractical, so he's forced to count his bullets. If he had a gun with bottomless magazines like the other characters, he might've fared better
"Someone's not counting... **Bang** ...Six"
Watts counting from 19 to 13 was well counted
after the melee fight at 1:13
Watts shoots twice and then says 10, if you watch frame by frame, the first shot actually shot 2 bullets at the time
at 1:32 he shoots two bullets at a time again followed by a one bullet shot, then he says 7
everything goes fine there.
however, 1:59 6 bullets remaining.
after that they start to barrage each other with bullets, and watts shoots 5 times (and none of them seem like a double bullet shot)
that means he got 1 bullet remaining
to which was never used afterwards
TL;DR = Watts had one shot remaining but Ironwood fooled him by saying that he's not the only one who can count.
I thought the shot he made while he was on the ceiling looked like two shots.
after the ice shot to ironwood's leg and ironwood shoots at the ice to break free
the cam is zoomed on watts and he makes a shot
then after the cam zooms out ironwood shoots
and watts shoots again
but neither of both shots look like a double bullet shot if you watch frame by frame because the first shot wasn't even shown
while the second is clearly one bullet
then after that he shoots 3 more times = 5 bullets
out of 6 that he had remaining
Unless the ice shot counts as two
honestly that makes it cooler
Ya it does
Okay, so, because I see a few comments agreeing about how Watts should count in his head, I feel like I _should_ mention that he...
I mean, also because if he did that there'd be nothing conveying to the audience that he was keeping count of how many shots he had left
The counting seems to be a stylistic choice. Fight scenes where the characters say nothing tend to be really awkward and strange, so adding lines so that a character can speak not only helps give more sound to the fight, but the countdown aspect of the counting also contributes to a feeling of rising tension.
To add some senses about Ironwood unable to hear the counting, with the fact he whispers of course x3
When they shoot each other at 0:54, you hear Watts counting only when the "camera" is behind him, not at first when you see Ironwood.
not gonna lie, ironwood didnt have to worry about anything else in general since from what i observed his revolvers have almost infinite ammo.
@@outrundoubtrun-lemonadeart682 well it is Nerfed, in volume 3 it was like mini bazooka when he was fighting against those robots
Unfortunately, he then shifts towards beating Salem at all costs.

He is both a very theatrical man and an arrogant one. Those are his vices. That said, he's easily the most dangerous of Salem's crew.
@@adamhughes4387 I'd have said his biggest vice is envy. He faked his death, joined Salem's side, plotted revenge, orchestrated countless murders... on a grudge because Ironwood picked a different project over his? Hell, even his aura is green with jealousy.

Noticing you didn’t mention Yang... ;)
Jack Hornblower Yang can avoid being trapped because of her gauntlets

It's so interesting that Ironwood got his theme song called "Hero" literally 15 minutes before he became the anti-hero. It's a nice contrast and it shows that even if he wants to be a hero and wants to do the right thing, his fear and paranoia won't let him. Am I the only one thinking about this every time I rewatch this fight?
Barbara Braskó I still think Due Process would’ve been a better title for the song.

I love how Watts is using his brains and the environment to match even Ironwood, the elements of a great fight
One of my favorite fights so far! I honestly have no words to explain how good this fight is!
This is my favourite fight scene of the whole series, mainly because it feels like such a strong return to form after Monty’s death
Caleb Hyles’s semblance is making everything he appears in a masterpiece.
God "hero" is such a good song and the lyrics work so well for his character especially coming out of volume 8 " he made so many sacrifices that he didn't need to just to get what he wanted
God, Ironwood was carrying this season
Fucking Oath mate
God Ironwood? Nanana bruh. God Irondaddy.
THANK YOU
EVERYONE NEEDED THIS
The Commander Shepard vs Illusive Man battle we always wanted yet never got
Favorite scene: 1:18 that flip was so smooth!
Dam this fight was epic and the music dam,
What's unbelievable here is that both aren't carrying any extra clips.
*IRON FROM ICE!*
*"Ironwood is near impervious to flame."*
- Ser Duncan Tuttle of House Forrester.
The gravity in this fight: ight Imma head out
Watts: I have brains, strategy, tactics and environment.
Ironwood: I have ammo and brute strength.
And counting
And more combat experience plus kinda made of metal
Hands down one of the best ever fights in rwby
The moment the vocals kick in is badass
I wonder if the director has scene the anime “hitman reborn”. The flying gun movements that general ironwood uses are very similar to xanxus. Increased movement speed, flight, and instant direction changes due to the gun fire.
Thank you! I thought nobody was gonna mention Reborn! XD
SPOILER:
And after all that, Watts is still alive at the end of volume 7...
SPOILER:
I thank the writers but Ironwood wasn’t the smartest with that one instead of killing basically a man with war crimes and basically a terrorist he attempted to kill Oscar
@@exoticcats6119The best justification I can think of is that Ironwood didn't want to pass up the opportunity to interrogate Watts.
@@nobody2996 kill watts, extract his brain using some of Atlas technology, put the brain inside a computer and boom easy info
Well, this aged like milk.
just another phenomenal fight in a volume full of excellent fights, volume 7 is easily the best volume of the show. can’t wait for V8 after what the finale teased, we are SO screwed lol
Watts is just the Pringles man but a hacker
Don't lie look at that mustache. He's the Pringles man

"I hope you do James... I hope you do..." Man that dialogue gives me chills. Genius writing
Looks like Ironwood doesn't need a *hand* to win this fight
"Put sunglasses on"
*Yyyeeeeeaaaahhhh*
HANDS down, Ironwood won that battle.
James Mercier this comment thread is in both parts cursed and fucking amazing😂
Goddamnit Barb!
This is probably the best and most badass moment for Ironwood. I just hope he doesnt stay as antagonist for long and gets redemption. He is a great character and one of my favorite supporting characters.
The Scarecrow lost his brain, the Lion lost his courage, and the Tin man lost his heart. I hope he gets it back.
@@Pyrochazm so wait, who's the scarecrow in this situation? Probably the headmaster of the academy in Vacuo, right?
@@wellalrightthen3920 Qrow is the scarecrow. The headmaster of Vacuo is Dorothy.
Given the pattern, I don't think Qrow is the scarecrow, even if it looks like it.
My bet's on the next headmaster, too.
@@figureLP09 Maybe, the Headmaster if Vacuo is named Theodore. Maybe he's a play on the wicked witch of the west, her name was Theodora.
When James brings out the duel pistols, you know shit's gonna get REAL
0:13 rocket jumping with a handgun
Watts isn't a fighter, and he's got a big ego. You can't expect him to make the best decisions when it comes to combat, it's not his whole schtick.
Arrogance is one hell of a drug.
I'd argue that he anticipated Ironwood would have countered if he had made the attempt.
And now both characters are dead 😭
I honestly love Watts especially when his semblance "Savagery" was revealed when he roasted Cinder.
This really is the best fight scene from this show in a long time. Every time I rewatch it I notice more and more subtle things. It trades flash for substance and I like it.
2:09 Straight outta Matrix :D
Nice bullet ricochet.
1:52. This is uh ... kinda awkward tbh
"Huh...i guess i got him"
@@DeactivatedAccountButpls-pe8wl "i thought the leader of atlas would put up much more of a fight"
That moment the song starts, I lost it.
What I really loved about this season was the fights were showing that fighting smarter is just as important as speed and strength.
Have to sleep, but I also have to watch this one more time...
If I worked at rooster teeth I would’ve just committed suicide cause fuck me the rwby community is so demanding
@@vxdokii4879 the "the plot isn't going where I want to so it's shit" comments are not to be taken seriously and I think RT got that, they just take attention to the relevant criticism
I love how they are counting bullets like Deadpool did
Stop saying that this is DC universe Marvel is dead
Why am I just now noticing that Watts shares his VA with Alex Louis Armstrong from FMA?
Didn't even show the most metal thing of ironwood pulling his arm out of the shield to then kick watts ass again
Both this fight, and the music are awesome!
