It's times like this that I really wish there was a side series to RWBY. Not Chibi but a genuine show that showed the misadventures of another team. I mean, they've already laid the groundwork and Mark Zhang just finished his team. It would be like a side story that doesn't dip into the main plot but still exists in the canon universe.
Well as previously mentioned, After the Fall is coming to show Team CFVY take the spotlight but yeah. Seeing other teams in their own adventures would certainly be a treat, and SLVR definently has the standards of the perfect team for the job.

I like how each member receives their own theme which plays during their respective segments. Then it blends together towards the end to remind us that, that they are in fact, Team SLVR
I think the only thing this animation is missing is the amount of "impact" in the sound design and even visual effects that Monty often had in his own style. During Monty's time animating, there were often sections during his fights that were extra impactful, accompanied with a very meaty sound apart from that it's great
As a fellow animator who loves Monty's work this is probably the most accurate representation of Monty's work I have ever seen not a lot of people can't get the camera work or the choreography down like this, Great work actually wish this was a real series!
This is truly the kind of choreography the show had under Monty - something the show lacks nowadays (tho season 6 did have some agreetious fight-scenes)

I hope someday you can make this a show or something. This deserves to be its own stand-alone series. Your animations recapture the magic Monty brought into RWBY and I’d love to see you heading your own series. Also, I’m totally waiting years if I have to in order to see the next animation you make. I hope you continue, even thought I understand the task must be grueling. You got a talent like Monty’s and you deserve to be recognized for it.
Yeah, like that matters when people don't get cut by an axe... Like the white girl took the axe's cutting edge right in the guts at a force that sent her flying but don't get cut at all... Try again when all the main characters don't get invincible armors.
In season 1 they explained this. Your aura is a natural shield that protects you from taking fatal blows. Once it runs out then you can actually take real damage. I like the way they gave an actual explanation for it because in most games and anime’s it never get explained.
@@nimero6496 well in games it wouldn't be fun to die after a single hit(though being caught in an 87 hit combo before dying to a supermove isn't much better but at least it's entertaining to watch)
@@alexsolosm As Nimero explained, RWBY has a thing called 'Aura' which is a somewhat-supernatural defense that can protect someone from otherwise lethal attacks. It's not invincibility - they can still feel all the way up to intense pain while their Aura is up (unless they have a semblance that blocks out pain, like one guy does), and an Aura can only take so much before it gives out, leaving the person open to taking injuries, even dying. Some semblances bolster or hinder Aura, but it comes down to the person much of the time. An example would be Yang - her Semblance allows her to absorb and redirect physical damage back into her own attacks, thus her Aura is crazy-tough compared to other characters in RWBY.
Smooth animation that shows how every blow is delivered and the results, unique fighting styles and character designs. All of this captures the original feel of the show it was inspired from. Perfection.
Not just the animation, the character designs, power sets and the music you guys pinned down everthing. It really brings back the early RWBY feeling. Thank you for making this.
These four “trailers” captured exactly what I enjoyed about early RWBY, and I had thought that spark of imagination was gone forever by now. A million kudos for nailing the crazy-fighting-game-esque combat vibe and thanks for reigniting that spark. Now get some rest, you maniac, you’re probably exhausted after this.
Man this is now better than RWBY, the first three volumes of RWBY are amazing and deserve the title of masterpiece, volume 4 is where the show started to fall apart, Volume 5 was okay at best. and volume six, kill me somebody please kill me, they did so much wrong with volume 6 and it wasn't even the story itself ( for the most part, there are a couple episodes that felt Bland). it's what they doing behind-the-scenes, they fired Vic so they can just protector brands ( yes I'm not an idiot I know about the Vic situation and in my opinion I stand with Vic despite a bunch of voice actresses saying they were quote on quote assaulted by him). and now RoosterTeeth is just trying to push politically correct stuff into the show just so they can say hey we appeal to everybody now so please don't kill us community.
Yeah this guy did an excellent job at making me love fight scenes. Probably because these are variations of the main casts semblances but done so well. Except S his was obviously new, so cool.
Everybody's talking about the animation, so I guess that's covered. I just wanna say I reaaly lile these characters. Their chemistry feels spot on, they fit well as a team. Wish I could see more of them
You did it Mark. After 5 years of hardwork, careful planning and passion (and a few hiatus), you've finally finished all four Team SLVR trailers, and they delivered.
Something else I thought about: Me: So this is a M4 Any RWBY character: is it also a gun? Me: it has an underbarrel grenade launcher RWBY character: souka
I love how Mark seemed to pick up what Monty Oum was putting down. Like with how the characters outfits seem like they would not only be easy to cosplay, but also follow the idea that RWBY's setting was supposed to be Modern fantasy, and how that's demonstrated in SLVR's outfits the same way it was in RWBY. I hope you'll continue working on SLVR, and keep up the good work!
Ya know I was expecting the this witch girl I just met to pull out a staff and be a dust caster. Was not expecting the Sem-Auto Shotgun Battleaxe, and now I've happly been duped
Ashire MGTOW Sorry, but the animation quality of the recent seasons of RWBY are light years ahead of this short. It’s entertaining, yes, but there is a lot of clunkiness in the animations. Furthermore, they are missing any notion of weight in their movements (it’s a battleaxe, not a bamboo stick......). I could understand if you compared it to the first season of RWBY, cause yeah it wasn’t good in term of animation. But the latest ones are on point. Way more then this fan made film, wich is totally understandable (more then 6 years of RWBY). Anyhoo, I am not trying to undermine the efforts and the work put into this project by the animator(s?). That’s a wonderful short film for a fan made. The timings, fluidity and impacts could get a bit more work, but other then that it serves its purpose as it should.
@@snagger28 I have to disagree. Current RWBY is pretty but it has HORRIBLE fight scene choreography. What made old RWBY great was the absurd anime-style fight scenes that were full of movements and physics that don't reflect the real world.
@@classof09official Couldn't have said it better myself. Early RWBY was great BECAUSE it was a power fantasy full of crazy moves down to the little details.
Still love RWBY but I definitely agree this genuinely make me feel the same way I did watching the RWBY trailers if this got legit turned to a full series I probably watch it over RWBY.
@@kjak0156 you ain't the only one on that. RWBY seems to lost a lot over the years. If this were to become an actual series in the future I'd watch this over RWBY.
I know right. RWBY seems to have lost it over the years. It hasn't really been able to get as good as it used to be. Looking at team SLVR they seem to more well thoughtout and their designs both physical appearances and combat abilities seem to catch that attention that RWBY seemed to have lost over the years.
Alright, I've been watching these videos repeatedly for years and I think I understand by now why exactly you've done such a good job while the actual animators of RWBY haven't quite been able to recreate the magic that Monty brought to the show. 1. A good understanding of literal momentum. The characters movements are always fluid and they feel like actual trained warriors instead of WWE rejects. 2. A good understanding of figurative momentum. The "pacing" or "rhythm" of the fight scenes you do are always just a bit frantic. A lot of animators tend to create too many pauses or make their fighters slow or add in too much slow motion. I'm of the opinion that a good fight choreographer shouldn't give a damn about the audience clearly seeing every move since it makes the characters feel far more skilled if you can barely keep up with them. 3. Minimal use of effects, slow motion included. The main use of effects should be to accentuate certain points in the fight, not to cover up the parts that look bad or the weird clipping issues you can't be bothered to fix. Slow motion should be used sparingly to emphasize or showcase badassery, hard hits, or close shaves. Basically, anything that could never come across through normal speeds. Seriously, compare the original "Red" trailer to Yang's character short and I think everyone could see how these things can make or break a fight scene. These are all things you seem to be excelling at, and it takes a certain kind of person to view these fights from an audience's perspective. I think you and the late Monty Oum have this in common and you have come a long way since Charcoal. Here's hoping you keep on loving what you do and someone recognizes your talent. Basically, you're one hell of an animator, sir. Shine on you crazy diamond.
The actual show has really good animation too. But it's evolved into a slightly different style. I don't really notice it, personally, on a first run. But if I go back to the beginning suddenly I can see it. Honestly, the original animation in comparison gives off more of an amateur feel to it. And I'd almost forgotten that it always did from the get go. Not in a bad way. But in more of a "we don't follow conventional rules of production" kind of way. It was like those DBZ styled flash animations of Sonic and Mario. The original fighting animation was all about doing something super cool and creative and then doing it again and again, taking a break from story just to see the creative, edgy, video game like fighting. With likes of spinning and flipping and camera tracking a set of "combos" one after another. That's probably the momentum you're talking about.

The best thing about RWBY was how much passion Monty Oum would put into his work. Watching this brings a certain nostalgia that doesn't happen in current iteration of RWBY. It's soul. It's life. Not just a product, but a tangible piece of love that you see with your eyes, and I think it's beautiful. Monty Oum would love this, you've made him proud I'm sure of it.

The background called my attention more than it did on any of the trailers (safe for the black one, but that was only on a little part of that), so I'd personally say the background scenery is superior than any of the one's in the trailers. I'd argue this would be on the level of, if you took the best parts of the yellow and red trailer and made one plus the white trailer (not as a fusion, but as an extension) Tl;Dr: I think the battle in this is inferior to the red trailer (battle against several) and yellow trailer (battle against one), but brings together the best of both, it shows all of the characters and clarifies what seems to be the main pieces of their personalities, and the background is beautiful.

I think the only thing this animation is missing is the amount of "impact" in the sound design and even visual effects that Monty often had in his own style. During Monty's time animating, there were often sections during his fights that were extra impactful, accompanied with a very meaty sound
apart from that it's great
Agreed the sounds gave more depth to what was happening in Monty's sound design
As a fellow animator who loves Monty's work this is probably the most accurate representation of Monty's work I have ever seen not a lot of people can't get the camera work or the choreography down like this, Great work actually wish this was a real series!
This is truly the kind of choreography the show had under Monty - something the show lacks nowadays (tho season 6 did have some agreetious fight-scenes)
that comment was hard to read
Some of the movements are still a bit clunky compared to Monty, but it's much better than a lot of the RWBY animators' sad attempts.

A world where gun shots actually affect enemies
And when they don't people keep shooting anyway like it's going to make a difference XD

I'm utterly obsessed with this animation. It's like a Volume 1 spinoff of the main cast. Amazing job, Mark.
Lot better than RWBY nowadays :3

Someone send this to the RWBY team!

@@nickter745thebold8 WWE is an acronym for "World Wrestling Entertainment" and is the foremost company in pro wrestling shows.

SOMEONE CALL MURDEROFBIRDS!!! I heard he’s on a Hiatus or something, but he must be made aware of this!!!
HECK YEAH NOSTALGIA, VOICE, AND CHOREOGRAPHY!!!!! If THIS does not scream RWBY inspired in his eyes then idk what is!!!!!
I already did. At least in his TH-cam Channel. I don't have Facebook or Twitter.
He’s currently moving right now. So it’ll be awhile
I can already hear his screams and cheers.
In going to go tell memory
Sad this will never become more... Such talent and each character is very interesting
Also witch girl looks like she'd be best girl
Me watching the S trailer: this guy is going places
Me watching this one: yeah basically places like this!
There were so many little things I appreciated about this. The team coming together, some of the more subtle things. The fact that knight chick held her own so well. Combos... sooooo many combos and just a lot of close quarters fighting. Just absolutely beautiful.
Ya know, this is the kind of action that I miss from the old RWBY.
That ?Pandora Commander? sounds nice but needs a few acting lessons.
Beyond that, this was excellent. The choreography was fantastic, the timing was great, the impacts actually felt powerful. Very well animated.
The amount of high impact moments was quite impressive, not something you'd expect from fan material. Managed to mimic the Rwby fighting choreography while being more attention grabbing than a lot of professional media.
@@xaius4348 Oh very much so. All in all if they made this an actual series, I'd definitely watch it.
Agreed on all points. The commander just needs some commanding flair in her voice
If that final attack didn’t give anyone else soul Eater vibes I’m leaving.
It did, I thought I was the only one. Also in the ‘Silver’ trailer they are playing Soul Eater’s Paper Moon both on harp and nightcore.
how is the last attack anything like soul eater?
edit:
what does that attack look like?
kishin-hunt?
how?
in all honesty rwby in general gives me soul eater vibes. not that that's an insult.
Silver also did the Farron Greatsword move. Sticking one sword into the ground and spinning while slashing with the other. I didn't realize until watching this again after playing Dark Souls 3.
Bye
5:18 Can we take a moment to appreciate how great a catch that was?
The real question is how long were they in the air?
Wait Mark Zhang posted a new video? And its a SLVR Trailer? AND IT HAS VOICE ACTING?! HELL YEAH SIGN ME UP!!!
We need a fund raiser to make this a standalone series.
Like so people can see!
RecklessVector I would love to see this turn into a series
i just want this guy to be hired by rooster teeth
@@azunyan2266 Sadly it doesn't work like that. Rooster Teeth isn't gonna hire anyone that can fixx the show, just people who can make stupid clunky fights and have experience in trash choreography.
Talents like this that Monty Oum wants to succeed over him.
I mean Rooster Teeth Company is becoming more gearing with Disney crap.
The new animation didn't do justice and the characters fights are becoming robotic and shobby.
This video here is a proof that someone appreciate and understand how it works that Monty Oum wants to seen and known to everyone of his works.
Manannan anam you’re right
Considering this is a fan made thing, this is high quality af! Obviously it's not perfect and there's things to improve on like voice acting and cleaning up the animation a tad bit but for what it is that is really good! Keep animating :)
the voice acting is honestly pretty good except for the white haired girl one tbh
Honestly seems more like RWBY than RWBY
@@designateddm8021 if were talking from the Later seasons with out Monty yes but i cant say its on the same level of the RWBY original 4 trailers here it needs more polishing ^_^ still great nice work for a still row jem in the making ^_^
@@Tigrion "but i cant say its on the same level of the RWBY original 4 trailers" really, for me it looks like a fusion of the red trailer, yellow trailer and the battle against mecha roman
the first part of the purple one's fight resembles quite closely the red trailer (safe for song, design and the first part where they show ruby jumping and showing her weapon in a baddass way) but switches to yellow trailer when it'd be the (ruby cutting several wolves) and resembles the fight of yang against the twins (since it's the only human on human fight of that sort) but against a singular opponent (isn't better than either, but I think the fusion of them is pretty cool for a trailer since it shows her dealing with several and a single strong opponent).
the second part introduces all the characters and shows little of their behavior, something only shown on the yellow trailer (black and white had a little of it but not that much), not as much, but shows more characters (mainly the archer).
The background called my attention more than it did on any of the trailers (safe for the black one, but that was only on a little part of that), so I'd personally say the background scenery is superior than any of the one's in the trailers.
I'd argue this would be on the level of, if you took the best parts of the yellow and red trailer and made one plus the white trailer (not as a fusion, but as an extension)
Tl;Dr: I think the battle in this is inferior to the red trailer (battle against several) and yellow trailer (battle against one), but brings together the best of both, it shows all of the characters and clarifies what seems to be the main pieces of their personalities, and the background is beautiful.
Ma Lavagyrus
No matter how good the animation is it’s still fan made because the characters and plot and stuff are based off the universe of RWBY a series made my month oum (I think I spelled his last name wrong) so even it the animation is good it’s still a fan made trailer regardless
Gotta hand it to you. When I first watched this, I thought that "fan made" just meant that it had been clipped from the actual show. It wasn't until I saw the comments that i realized you MADE this whole damn thing. That's pretty good going!
That. Was. EPIC.
Monty-level stuff.
I mean, not only was the choreo of the fights AMAZING, but the music was equally brilliant and spot-on. Plus, there were these cute little details that made the whole video just...epic.
This was the video equivalent of running into an old friend and catching up while you both relax and play that game you used to love so much.
Megumin: **Exists**
-Eric Andre- Mark Zhang: “What if it was purple!?”
EXPLOOOOSION!!!
My thoughts exactly.
"what if it was purple, and had an axe, that's also a grenade launcher" was what you meant, right? After all, this wasn't just 1 explosion.
pretty sure it's a drum-magazine shotgun, since firing a grenade launcher up in an enemy's face like at 1:01 would end up probably blasting yourself with the explosion
You sure its an axe? Looks like an scytche
There's a part kinda on 2:09 where the blade sort of unfolds
The
I love how Lycan is like squaring up with the Familiar.
I'd wait another 3 years for a 10 minute episode with these guys.
Agreed
Never thought I'd see this type of animation again. I miss this so much, keep up the good work man! Monty'd be PROUD.
He might be crying from heaven now
Damn dude. Monty would be proud to see he inspired this. Great job.
This trailer was incredible, and I can't wait to see the next one (if there will be a next one). I can practically see it now...
*Charcoal exits the airship and looks at team SLVR, standing unfazed and unimpressed*
Ragora: Who invited the fedora?
Simin: Wasn't me.
Vella: Or me.
Lycan: Ughh, are we really going to do this? Obviously no one invited him.
Charcoal: Funny... The four of you are standing there talking about invitations... and here I am, wondering who in the world invited you...
Lycan: Aww, would you look at that, Goth Topic can talk. Can we pummel him now?
Ragora: Why don't we try talking first. After all, we don't have to pummel him if he hands the Radiant over.
Charcoal: the Radiant?
Ragora: Yeah. The Radiant. You know... the mysterious, mystical object you're protecting... the one currently locked away in that fortress behind you?
Charcoal: A mysterious, mystical object, huh? I see... So that's what it's called...
Simin: You know what we're talking about?
Charcoal: I do. In fact, I was the one who brought the Radiant here in the first place.
Vella: What?
Charcoal: Yeah... It was about a week ago... I took the Radiant from a group of criminals that used cybernetic soldiers. I had no idea what the item was at the time. And to be honest, I still really don't know what it is. All I do know is that I was hired then, to get it. Just like I've been hired now, to protect it.
*Charcoal draws his weapon, and then takes an offensive stance. Team SLVR half-readies themselves for battle, though a part of them is still hoping for a peaceful negotiation*
Simin: Listen... the Radiant is dangerous... far too dangerous to be left in the hands of these people... Give it to us.
Charcoal: Sorry, but I can't do that.
Vella: Why not?
Charcoal: It's not in my contract.
Lycan: Works for me.
*Lycan cracks his knuckles*
Lycan: I told you guys we should've just pummeled him.
Ragora: Yeah... yeah...
*The members of team SLVR arm themselves, and then assume a combative stance*
Charcoal: Ha... You want to pummel me, kid...?
*Charcoal ignites his sword*
Charcoal: You're about a hundred men short for something like that...
*Charcoal charges, and then proceeds to solo, team SLVR*
End
Oh come now, I sincerely doubt the awesome team Mark put together is just gonna go out like punks to one guy, even if he IS badass...
@@jonnyman98989
Whether they would or would not lose, in reality, is inconsequential; as I largely made Charcoal the winner of the fight, for the sake of this mini-story.
*Hear me out...*
Team SLVR walks up to a castle, defeats a bunch of bad guys, and then saves the day. It's a nice story, but it's one we've all heard a thousand times before, in a thousand different ways.
*But...*
Team SLVR walks up to a castle, defeats a bunch of bad guys, but then gets stopped by one man? In my opinion, that makes for a more compelling story (in this instance), as it adds a great deal of importance to the one man (as he is now a person that team SLVR must train in order to defeat). If Charcoal went to stop team SLVR, and lost, then there's little separating him from being simple cannon-fodder, aside from his attire of course.
*In the end...*
The contents of the above mini-story, as well as the contents of this comment, are all just my opinions. If it helps, consider them to be my headcannon, as opposed to being actual cannon.
nice fan fic

Thanks!
Ngl that's pretty well written
It was a month ago when I decided to revisit this guy’s fan made trailers, after Lien’s trailer I hoped he would return cuz he didn’t post for awhile.
SO IMAGINE MY SURPRISE WHEN I SAW THIS IN MY RECOMMENDED
Am i the only one STUNNED by the amazing voice acting? As someone who's aspiring to be a voice actress when i graduate college, this truly amazed me. Great job those who voiced 👏👏
Amazing!!! I only found the trailers two years ago, but I always rewatch them when I'm seeking a solid RWBY feeling. I always loved seeing your growth in animation with each and every one.
This one is now my favorite, you have shown the amazing capacity of human growth Monty described as the human spirit and showed us your next level.
SLVR is an amazing work, I'd love to see it developed further. You've clearly made a story worth seeing.
I would love for this to become a full series it would be amazing.
I love how creative the mechanical weapons are
Lol, did't notice on the first watch but the familar thing and Lycan are growling at each other when Vella shows up. Thats adorable.
Jade jensin I was laughing at Vella's peace sign, I lost it when they were growling at each other
LOL, thanks.. I just noticed it.
Pls don't stop making these, and take your time because they're worth the wait
Nicholas Lanighan Agreed and this is way better than RWBY's crappy volumes.
Rex Lumontad didn’t your mother tell you that it’s bullying is wrong 😒
@@rexlumontad8078 Dont forget RWBY still has respectable animators working on it, like the one behind the greatness that his Sun´s nunchucks that still kept going well even in Vol. 5.
Insidious Lol, they murdered Monty Oum's work and it is just a walking corpse now.
Sebas G Good point but they're getting nowhere especially their angst about how to beat Salem the immortal Grimm Queen or that they have trust issues with Ozpin even though he did kinda screwed up and wanted to make amends.
Plus the infamous Yang and Blake vs Adam battle too as well.
This feels nostalgicly like RWBY V1&2
That's pretty much because it is... Colorful characters, INSANE weapons and great music. None of this is bad though
I remember this vividly but as I watched this again it is amazing I just hope whoever made this comes back and does it again.
