So what you're saying is we need to SLOW OUR ROLL. Another benefit I've found with slowing down is that my breaths are quieter, because I'm not trying to suck in air quickly to keep pace. If I afford myself some space around the words, I feel like I don't need to breathe quickly to keep pace, and I can take in breath more slowly resulting in less post production editing. 😎
It took me a while to understand slowing down, especially in tense, fast-paced scenes. But seeing Jay demonstrate it on numerous videos helped it click in my brain. It's like the difference between speed-walking and a leisurely walk through the woods. As an audiobook listener, I want to enjoy the scenery. Now, as a narrator, I'm slowing down to allow listeners to do the same.
Hi Jay! I'm a novice VA and I've been deep-diving TH-cam to try and figure out wth I'm even doing. I've found & watched dozens of good channels with great tips and advice, which I've watched for hours. I can confidently say that your channel is easily the best. (Truly-yours and VO Angela are the only two I subscribed. I'm picky.) It's clear you actually know what you're doing, plus you aren't hawking software & hardware under the premise of 'evaluating' it, so thanks for that.. I'm willing to bet my cold hard cash your channel will rise to the tip-top. I appreciate all the terrific insights! Side question... is the form only found in the description for a limited time? Or am I as dumb as my ex-girlfriend said I was? Jk. (Sorta) I'd love to throw my name (and audio file) into the hat and was wondering if it's in one of the links. I did check thoroughly (I think) on your site but alas... I am but a hamster without a seed.
Thanks for the kind words! It means a lot. And thanks for calling it to my attention!! Looks like the form got dropped sometime in my posting. The link is there again, and here for you: docs.google.com/forms/d/1w-MXGuxZ1YEL8vEm-h8n6Szl9pTvQC0ffQitKmk4fT0/viewform?edit_requested=true
@@jaymyersvoiceover Rad! I meant every word of it. The way you present ideas and topics is terrific and you always seem very genuine which is something I personally appreciate a lot. Thanks for the huge jump start into VO and VA!
