TFW the one you prefer in the blind test is the one you have (the KSM32). 😊 I just noticed (November 2024) that the prices seem to have dropped on the KSM32, not sure if it's for Black Friday or not? $519 for champagne, $479 for black at Shure and Sweetwater!
00:37 Why yes, I DO find it useful, and as always I did click the button! Your channel is underviewed for the awesome insights you give us every, damn, week. Love your work Jay.
I LOVE the KSM32. Don't know why it doesn't get more attention because it's awfully silky to my ears. Serial, This American Life and others have used it well.
Hi Jay! Super helpful as always! Your timing is so perfect! My hubby teaches recording, and he's having me test out these exact models!! While he prefers the TLM 102, thus far, I'm leaning towards the KSM 32 for the exact reasons you mention...I feel it's slightly more forgiving than the 102, and I do a lot of long form narration. Also, although I do have an acoustically treated space, I don't yet have a vocal booth, so I'm hyper paranoid about other sounds creeping in. (Plus, I'm so darn mouth clicky - aaaaargh!) Anyway, just wanted to thank you again for another great video!
Enjoyed the video, and watch your channel frequently. In your A/B test I was easily able to hear the harsh high boost. For your voice, I think the 32 worked best. They do sound similar, but I think you could probably use the 32 without EQ, while you would have to really work on eq with the 102. The 32 seemed pleasing while the 102 was fatiguing. Of could this is with your voice, as all mics have a different tone with different voices. The 32, to me, sounded a lot like an 87. Based on what I heard here, I wouldn’t buy a 102. I don’t have a 32, but I do have a 44, and it even has a different character than the 32. In good way. The twistable mount is great. Thanks for the video.
Hello Jay, interested in how the Roswell K87 sounds compared to other top VO mics. They might let you borrow one to test. Would be great to have a review from a real VO talent with good ears. Thanks.

Love the KSM32. Just something about how smooth it sounds.

Ah! It's in the air I guess ;) Make sure you comb Reverb for a KSM 32. I picked mine up for ~$250.
Just wondering if you’re still using the Apollo solo as your audio interface? Or if you’re using something different? Thanks in advance 😊
Yup!

Nice breakdown! Glad you liked the vid.
Great channel. Very informative. Would love to see you do a vid on your top 5 (or 3) mics for VO. Priced between $100 - $300.
Many of my starter mics I resold, but the AT 2020 & Rode NT1 are both what I typically recommend to folks in that price range 😊
@@jaymyersvoiceover Yes. Ive been looking closely at both. TY.

I'll keep my eyes peeled. :)
Yes! I was also curious as to how the Roswell K87 would sound compared to those Shure and Neumann models. Very curious.
@@jaymyersvoiceover Thats all we can ask.
I need the one that completely ignores mouth noise. Like, totally doesn’t hear it at all 😮😢😂
Sadly, we are all human.
You could give a dynamic mic a try though! I’ve got a review planned in a week or so on a few broadcast mics.
