Great video man! Absolutely loved your setup and the review, with the 6K FF and 6K PRO with very low light, try shoot at ISO 1250, much better noise performance than 3200
Sooo I've been working with BM support on this issue. It appears they define the native ISO not as the actual hardware natives - but instead the ISO's at which the stops above/below middle gray are most equal. I guess they define native as their own thing so it's really confusing for the consumers. Hopefully they can fix this with a firmware update... maybe they are over amplifying at 3200... noise there and even at 1250 is really high. CineD just did their tests on the FF and specifically said to avoid the second natives. Their assessment (direct quote): "The higher native ISO is sort of a problem child; I would stay away from it if possible."@@CineDailies
Would it be possible for you to take some of your low light footage from this camera and show noise reduction process with a screenshare type video and maybe using something like neat? I know you showed post pre and post NR but given the report from CineD I think a video like that would do well and also be very helpful to the community. Would like to see if can trust the camera with a good NR routine. As of now it's defective compared to the information posted by BM. Their marketing on this camera pushed low light... this can be seen on their product page for this item. Please make the NR video if possible. Maybe after NR this performs better than the 6k pro with final image who knows. The daylight shots are nice. Sending positive vibes :)@@CineDailies
Does Blackmagic footage downscale when being imported into editing softwares?? I shoot it 6k and it takes it Down to 1920x1080 when doing so for my footage
The proxies are 1080, make sure you have "prefer camera orginals" selected in resolve. It defaults to using proxies, which you most likely don't want if your computer can handle a 4k or 6k timeline.
Great video, thank you for sharing. I also wanted BMD to put the 12k sensor into a smaller body (because I own an Ursa 12k, and wanted a B-cam to perfectly pair with it) , BUT they do NOT care about most of their consumers thoughts & opinions.
What a fantastic video. Enjoyed listen to your thought process on the new bmcc6k and watching some beautiful shots. That batteryport is so bad and thats why I bought a memorycard for my bmpcc6k pro. I hate having cables on the side of the camer. Makes it less comfortable to hold aswell.
Great video! I loved seeing your footage! Just a question - if you're handing it off to a professional editor why would BRAW be an issue? If they're not using Resolve, you just download a plugin for other NLEs. I edit BRAW in premiere with no issues. If I'm editing in Avid Media Composer, I transcode the footage anyway. I can't image a professional editor having an issue with raw footage, especially if they're used to cinema camera footage where they would be processing Red and Arri Raw files.
@@CineDailies Got it! Thank you! I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing about this specific camera. (I've only used the BMPCC 4k and 6k).
@Cine Dailies, I plan to get a Blackmagic camera, would you say get the new full frame one? Or a 6k g2? I see that the super 35 sensor seems to be a lot better in low light which is weird
thanks for asking, personally the main thing to think about is lenses. The L mount will give you the most flexibility. The 6k pro is EF or hard mount PL
@@CineDailies true! If I went with the 6k g2 or even a 6k pro, the Meike s35 lenses seem to be fantastic, but yeah pairing the right lense with that full frame sensor tho would be insane. But looking at the 6k pro vs 6k FF they both same price, just sensor size and resolutions are different. Also is the 6k DCI good? I see that’s a option in the new kne
@@Filmedbylamar the 6k Dci in the 6k pro? Yeah its solid from what I remember. But most of the time I was in the 5.7k res - I felt that was a good balance
@@CineDailies oh alrighty! Thank you so much! I’m looking for a camera that’s gonna be great for the best image, im getting into commercials & Small business social media content right now, so the new FF with that Open gate made me say that one, but then again the S35 seems to have more frame rates. Both seem to have a fantastic image. Just FF vs S35.
2600 USD full frame 6k resolution... Ultra compact size & its RAW footage... What else do you need than this... You're thinking is totally wrong.. . Please correct that
@@CineDailies actually you missed the point📍 what I'm written so please once again read man... It's great camera, no other manufacturers had been done in past & present at apple phone price camera....
Just a quick correction, at 16:50 you say 'Canon Batteries' they are in fact Sony NPF batteries the canon ones were truely atrocious the sony upgrade helped that marginally but the batter grip for the pocket series also makes it SOOOO much better and uses no ports but the pins on the bottom of the body you wouldn't have had that issue, also hot swap-able, I find that port is only best used as AC power not for external use, you don't have any motors or an external motor. I would bet you would have had a better time with the BlackMagic battery grip.
Haha the Sony NPFS Arent any better lol the camera DRINKS batteries like sodas. I can't stand the battery grip, it's flimsy at best. It makes the rig even more awkward. It's not the solution for the port issue in my opinion. But in glad it's working for you
@@CineDailies Well when you take the old canon 1D body that it emulates, vs a rigged out wannabe box camera, AND the fact you can get an almost 50% power density increase compared to the canon lpe6 batteries. The battery grip is platic and sure flimsy could be a word to describe it, but you then put a cage around the whole thing, you loose the snag prone cables and the cable you used ended up becoming damaged. It's only a solution for the situation you were in. My experience is in being a Union professional Assistant camera so the guy building big camera rigs, I'm always looking to lose wires not add more, ANYTIME anyone asks me about the pocket series I say it is meant to be bare bones, now with the view finder it is a full blown DSLR form factor camera. If your building it up you need a different tool.
Regarding the external battery's cable not working, was this a faulty cable, or did the port stop working? Curious to know what was the issue with the camera not recognizing the external battery. Thanks 💪🏻
In daylight, the blackmagic workflow can "respect" natural light, better than anything for me, for my eyes. ( i do my own theater screening since many years, with my own pictures, from scratch, to doremi DCP2000 and christies CP2230, 2k dci)
I have been eyeing this camera but am really concerned about shadows not being as clean as BMPCC. That's the biggest strength of BMPCC for me. Wondering if it's something they can fix in a firmware update or a hardware limitation that we are stuck with. Later case would be a huge bummer.
I've also bought this camera and i can completely agree with all the point you said ! Noise could be a lote better for sure and i absolutely hate the power cable it uses :/
@@CineDailies sad, but true :( Regarding the second native ISO, whenever i shoot with my 6k pro, i'll rarely use it past 1600, since i only use it for commercials, so we have some control of the light. If you treat this camera as a 400 ISO camera (or even 800, like Arri/Red) then this sensor is awesome, colors are truly beautiful and the OG on this camera is amazing! But yeah, it does feel like a rushed camera, i might keep it until they release an Ursa with a full frame sensor so it can help me with the problems that i have with this camera, lack of internal ND, the Power connection and HDMI. If they add 6k 60p at OG would be awesome as well !
Beautifully done 🔥👌. Thank you for this practical review! The things you pointed out makes a lot of sense when you are using a camera in the real world!
Hi ! please, for a quick advice : are all your shots hand held by the top just like that ? ( arround 13 - 14 min in the timeline for example )I find it quite stable enough ..... I'm considering this camera and maybe i wouldn't need to consider a ronin RS3 pro ? especially since my scopes are quite long. Thanks

Great video! My heart wants to love this camera but that form factor / build design is tough to commit to haha I’ve seen so many people rip out the ports too, it’s sketch haha The images look solid!
Quick question is there anyway you can do a video on how you did your intro? Or point me to a video that breaks it down. I love the simplicity of it and was looking to do this for my logo intro to add to videos
You wish this was 8k? all these Ks are just a terrible fad. They make professional documentaries and feature films using cameras that are at best 4k, sometimes even less. You will just not get the kind of detail you think you will get by cropping in 4x or 5x on that 8k res video (NOT to mention the ridiculous storage demands of that kind of res). If you really wish to "punch in" to the point of needing...8k video, you might as well just incorporate a cine zoom lens in your kit. If now you say oh but it is just for those rare times when you need to. Well that still leaves vast majority of your work not needing 8k crop ins.
I guess you missed the point. My mavo super 16 crop looks way better than the 6k full frame super 16. And it's a super 35 sensor. Any way, you must know better 👍🏾 because obviously you didn’t pay attention to the video
I think you’re confusing mastering with filming. There are tons of movies that are filmed in 6k, 8k and 12k… especially ones that have heavy vfx. They are just mastered in 2k afterwards. Also, having shot in 8k myself with my personal gear for the very reasons Joshua mentioned in the video, the difference in storage is 100% dependent on codecs. 8k in h265, the difference in storage is negligible at best.
@@Eyeofkamau no, they are not. Few are shot in more than 4k when shooting digital (Alexa 65 is around 6k, still not 8k). Arri Alexas are the dominant cameras in Hollywood. Even the alexa LF, and more recently the alexa 35....is 4k max res.
@@CineDailies It's not that anyone knows better, of course not. Everyone's learning. I know you mentioned the resolution in context of the sensor size and detail when cropping in. The video looks great and is well made. I am not saying anything against this video at all.
@@RavikantRai21490 I didn’t intend to insinuate that the entire films were shot in high res. Poor wording there on my part. Even though… it does happen. Guardians of the galaxy vol 2 was shot entirely in 8k. To name some off the top of my head, that shot with cameras that shoot 6k or higher natively… we have 3 of the last hobbit films, spiderman, pirates of the Caribbean, bloodshot, etc. Aside from those, I myself work on film productions that are shot entirely in 6k and 8k. Besides that, what I’m saying is, shooting in higher than 4k is far more common that you think it is-whether it be for specific shots or not. That recording capability doesn’t just exist for no reason. The Ursa 12k is a staple for many for VFX plates. Also, You can’t mention Arri but leave RED out of it lol. Needing to crop or have flexibility for vfx may be only a small percentage on the shot list but that doesn’t render 6k/8k/12k useless. They are definitely more than a “terrible fad.” As far as random “content creators” wanting it for the sake of having it… yes, but clearly that’s not the case with this video.
Beautiful vid as always! I have the Anton Bauer base for my BMPCC6Kpro, I find that it swivels a lot since it's a single screw mount. How do you have it mounted to the cage and keep it stable?

Through all my testing 1250 unscientifically works so much better!
I like the music in the opening shots
On Audiio bro!
Does Blackmagic footage downscale when being imported into editing softwares?? I shoot it 6k and it takes it Down to 1920x1080 when doing so for my footage
You have to change your project timeline settings. If you are in Davinci resolve the default timeline resolution is 1920x1080p
@@CineDailies so even if your actual files of the video on your computer say the file image size is 1920x1080 it’s not?
The proxies are 1080, make sure you have "prefer camera orginals" selected in resolve. It defaults to using proxies, which you most likely don't want if your computer can handle a 4k or 6k timeline.
great work, can't wait to film my fist project on the FF
At 9:40 we've got a documentary about a documentary about a documentary being shot. That's a lot of layers of documentary.
its an onion
Great video, thank you for sharing.
I also wanted BMD to put the 12k sensor into a smaller body (because I own an Ursa 12k, and wanted a B-cam to perfectly pair with it) , BUT they do NOT care about most of their consumers thoughts & opinions.
Yeah how was that not what happened!?!
Thanks for watching! Yea I hope that changes
Wow, amazing work!. Un saludo desde Andalucía!
🙌🏽🙌🏽
Like the way you shoot, setup you gear is great. Nice work!
Thank you!
Cool review Joshua !
Thanks for watching!
What a fantastic video. Enjoyed listen to your thought process on the new bmcc6k and watching some beautiful shots. That batteryport is so bad and thats why I bought a memorycard for my bmpcc6k pro. I hate having cables on the side of the camer. Makes it less comfortable to hold aswell.
i love the sharpness of this video
hah thanks! its about the details
I’m here to say I think that beanie fits just fine.
Honestly, my wife even told me it looks like a condom, so I can't blame him haha
I really like mekie L mount to pl drop in on 6kFF bmc
cable locks always needed on the current and Zitay dummy / alvin cables have surge protection
yep
That nice pattern comes from the external battery. The power frequency is very inconsistent.
Great point. All of the editing post houses I've work with require Pro res if it's not RED, Sony, Arri raw. So that's been my experience.
@@CineDailies Got it! Thank you! I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing about this specific camera. (I've only used the BMPCC 4k and 6k).
Beautiful footage man A1
Thank ya brotha! I'll text you later
That lowlight performance is shocking!
Seriously
I'm early in my carrer 2y in perfect a cam for the job with the 6k pro
Totally
Just FF vs S35.
la lluvia en sevilla es una maravilla . Cool video
That’s top shelf stuff right there 👍🏻
Ayeeee
2600 USD full frame 6k resolution...

Another great video. Awesome work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
If your building it up you need a different tool.
i have come back to this video so many times! Mostly for the 11:17 camera throw 🤣🤣
🤣🤣
Regarding the external battery's cable not working, was this a faulty cable, or did the port stop working? Curious to know what was the issue with the camera not recognizing the external battery. Thanks 💪🏻
Another great story and review bro
Much appreciated
Footage looks pretty great to me.
In daylight, the blackmagic workflow can "respect" natural light, better than anything for me, for my eyes. ( i do my own theater screening since many years, with my own pictures, from scratch, to doremi DCP2000 and christies CP2230, 2k dci)
Hello, the video is very good, do you know if suddenly by connecting it to an atoms you can directly get a processed 4K
I don't know what you mean
Flight was delayed! I can download this now
Sucks that your flight got delayed but LETS GOOO lol 20 mins to kill haha
Looks like they had your review in mind...kinda lol...sdi, new battery solution, new shape.
Can you link the NDs you're using?
Haha kinda - and yeah I think its listed near the bottom
I'm about to buy the nisi Athena + ranger zoom package.
It's a good combo, do you recommend it?
. The nisi have contrast more contrast than the rangers. So you can add a sifting filter if you need to match them
Im only a minute in but big fan of image you create
🙇🏽🙇🏽🙇🏽
Why am I crying from these frames right now😭
😭❤️
I have been eyeing this camera but am really concerned about shadows not being as clean as BMPCC. That's the biggest strength of BMPCC for me. Wondering if it's something they can fix in a firmware update or a hardware limitation that we are stuck with. Later case would be a huge bummer.
The Nisi glass is awesome.
It's so good
I've also bought this camera and i can completely agree with all the point you said ! Noise could be a lote better for sure and i absolutely hate the power cable it uses :/
yeah its unfortunate they didn't put more love into this camera
@@CineDailies sad, but true :(
Regarding the second native ISO, whenever i shoot with my 6k pro, i'll rarely use it past 1600, since i only use it for commercials, so we have some control of the light.
I have this cam. It’s capable of amazing images. I honestly love it so much.
Great to hear!
Really enjoy your video!
I'm so glad!
Thanks
Its a crazy video dude❤️❤️ just a little demand can you please make a video like this on your xh2s i know you made alot of video on it but, i really want this type of video for fujfilm xh2s :) i hope you read my comment and made video like this

Beautiful video!! vnd link not working, would you mind updating?
Quick question is there anyway you can do a video on how you did your intro? Or point me to a video that breaks it down. I love the simplicity of it and was looking to do this for my logo intro to add to videos
Hi, what aspect of the intro are you referring to? You mean the logo?
@@CineDailies they way your logo moves. I was wondering was it a mask or some kind of after effects trick
@@stayjustful oh gotcha! A follower of mine made it for me
....just AMAZING!.

They are definitely more than a “terrible fad.”
As far as random “content creators” wanting it for the sake of having it… yes, but clearly that’s not the case with this video.
I noticed you don't have a power cable clamp has that been an issue with the camera turning on and off ?
I thought the same thing, but that wasn't the issue.
Beautiful vid as always! I have the Anton Bauer base for my BMPCC6Kpro, I find that it swivels a lot since it's a single screw mount. How do you have it mounted to the cage and keep it stable?
Yeah I need to make a new mount for it. Its annoying how it moves
