Not sure why anyone would find Eastbourne unexciting (a previous comment). I lived there for five years and have just revisited: the amazing Towner Art Gallery, The International Lawn Tennis Centre, several theatres, numerous gold courses, bowls and croquet, the walk along the beach to Holywell, Beachy Head, Birling Gap and East Dean - all places to be explored, and the No 12 bus along the coast to Brighton is just the most stunning, spectacular bus route.
Born and bred in Eastbourne and lived there for 54 years before relocating just under two years ago. You certainly made it look so much better than the reality.🤣 The gold on the pier is paint and its owned by the guy who owned a few Eastbourne hotels. Think he did buy or try to buy the Hastings pier too. The pier is much improved now the vulgar amusement arcade (which was lost to the fire a few years ago) had moved. The end of the pier housed a nightclub in my youth. The Grand Hotel is an amazing place inside and out. I'm lucky enough to have been their recommended photographer for over 20 years and it never disappoints. Might be an idea for you to showcase it one day as it really is a gem. Sadly the Redoubt fortress has been allowed to get run down but isn't that the same with so many seaside attractions? Thanks for an excellent video.
I was born and brought up in Eastbourne, and I just love your tour! I go back quite often, but you caught the town on such a beautiful day, and of course I like to remember days like that while I was growing up. And sandwiched between the sea and the South Downs, I loved the place. Thanks for the memories, and a lovely view of Eastbourne today!
@@WalkWithMeTim Great video, just a few points. The lighthouse was moved back 25 years ago now, in January 1999. And secondly, I don't believe you can see France from Beachy Head, its 60 miles away and too far.
I am from Eastbourne and it's a lovely place, the pier was bought by Sheikh Abid Gulzar, it previously had alot more attractions before the fire in 2014. Since then all the buildings and attractions were taken away and its more of a boardwalk/place to sit now. Sheikh Abid Gulzar lives in Eastbourne and all the cars he owns are painted gold, that is why there is a lot of "gold" on the pier.
This is my hometown, the pier is owned by a rich middle eastern man who loves his gold even had his cars gold wrapped, the front of the pier was renovated recently due to a fire which started in the arcade which used to be located at front of the pier. the roads behind the seafront offers up theaters, the tennis lawns where the famous players play before wimbledon. weekends it has a seafront market, all sorts of shows on the wishtower lawn the famous august airshow and other attractions. still a quiet place but no longer labeled as an old people town.
Eastbourn has always had a place in my heart as a child had some lovely times lways very busy on the beach lots of foreign students the place was buzzing
I lived in Polegate just down the road, haven't been on the Eastbourne pier for over 40 years used to go go to a disco for school children called Dixie Land, wonderful days :) Grreat video.Thank you!
We didn't find Eastbourne to be very exciting (May, 2015) but we went for a stroll from the Town to the Beachy Head Lighthouse through the grassland and found it to be one of our most memorable walks in England. I don't know what it was, there was just something magic about it, it had such good vibes.
That view from the top of beach head I used to love driving from Seaford to get that view just like the Mediterranean I miss driving my lorry around the country Thanks so much Tim for taking me with you 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Eastbourne is my favourite resort on the south coast, the building at the end of the pier was the main Pier Theatre that was destroyed by a fire back in 1970 and was replaced by a night club. The amusements on the pier was in the building at the front end and caught fire back in 2014. Have seen two band concerts at the Bandstand. Eastbourne as Three Theatres which present show for all from variety show, musical and I've seen some great plays and comedy plays at the Devonshire Park Theatre which is back on to the tennis courts. The old town of Eastbourne is just two/three street with a good mix of shops. I stay in Eastbourne and go and see the Cricket down the road at the county cricket ground in Hove. Thank you for bring back memories of some great holidays I've had down in Eastbourne.
Thought I would finish watching straight away lol. The carpet gardens were very much neglected during lockdown it was very sad but they are indeed looking very lovely as they always do again now. The bandstand is not currently in use as it is in bad disrepair and from what I gather not much effort being made to get it fixed very fast. Lots of concerts been cancelled unfortunately. There are more martello towers down at Pevensey Bay I believe. Belle tout lighthouse is in need of moving again due to erosion. You can indeed walk to the lighthouse there are regular walking groups who do just that. Not done it myself but I bet its pretty amazing! What a lovely review of the town I live in. The sunshine Coast. We get I believe the most sunshine hours in the country. Thank you again for such a lovely review.
It as if I am watching an episode of a place in the sun 🌅⛅ I love your your enthusiasm for the British beaches they truly are spectacular beautiful video
For some reason, we holidayed in Eastbourne quite often when I was younger. It doesn't look as though it's changed that much either. I can remember seeing the Radio 1 roadshow there a couple of times. Those large Aloe Vera plants; I've recently found out are actually Agave plants, Tequila is made from it. When the plant dies off a tree grows out of it, you often see them in the old Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns, It grows unbelievably straight with short branches which have a little bit of some kind of flowers pointing upwards
Great to see a great review of our lovely seafront in Eastbourne. Yes, there are the problem areas which many places have but i've lived in the town all my life. I worked at the bandstand and still remember that very dramatic and horrible day that we watched in horror when the pier was on fire. The bandstand is undergoing some very slow restoration work so has a lot of boarding up around it.
Hi Tim, thanks for coming to Eastbourne. I live here too, its lovely but i do take it for granted when you live here. The gold is to do with the owner he gives it his mark of the gold lions. He also has hotels including the lions hotel Hailsham/ lower dicker at the boship roundabout. He also has a gold car and van. The pier suffered a fire a while ago so its scaled down a bit but done a great job of restoring it. There was a worry it would be left for ruin at one stage.
I love Eastbourne! I live in Germany and I am german but but auntie and uncle live in Haywards Heath. Eastbourne, Beachy Head and The Seven Sisters are my favorite places in Great Britain - most I miss Seven Sisters and hope to enjoy your wonderful country next year again. Thanx for the lovely Walkaround! Kirsten😍❤
England is worth exploring. Having lived abroad for so many years, I now want to explore my home country. So many interesting places to visit and full of history. It's good to be back. Thank you for this interesting video.
I have lived in Eastbourne my whole life and you have really showed it off in this video! Well done Tim 👍🏼 p.s the gold you see is just paint the guy who owns it used to own a few other hotels along the seafront which he also got lions painted in gold :) Also the Grand Hotel the Queen has stayed in a few times over the years
@Mr Taylor if you watched and listened he did not go to the edge too close as bear in mind camera angles can be deceiving and he decided not to walk to the lighthouse down below due to safety so he is not stupid as your making out also there can be many warnings but u less there is actual enforcement people will ignore sign posts alotnof the time especially those that come from abroad and don't understand our way of life before visiting
@Mr Taylor what I ment by our way of life is how we do things like safety messages etc and I other countries they have actual people patrolling and enforcing the safety measures where at the southbdowns national park in the Eastbourne area we have nothing like that and there are not enough to prevent people from doing things although its common sense to people like you and me
Thanks Tim for a fantastic video, never been to Eastborne and had no idea it was so nice!! Just goes to show, who needs to go begging abroad when we have all the treasure we want in our own country!!
Absolutely loved this Tim. I don't know much about that part of the UK so this was a revalation. Eastbourne looks gorgeous and the pier....prettiest I have seeen. The cliffs at Beachy Head look spectacular but I haven't got the stomach to go near the edge! Great video, thank you for sharing.
I was lucky enough to spend a summer week in Eastbourne every year for about 35 years, working at the tennis event in Devonshire Park. Always a highlight of my year. Many of the top women players in the world used to attend a party for them in the nightclub at the end of the pier. As already mentioned, the large amusement machine building at the front part of the pier, before the tea room, was destroyed by fire. So too was a hotel opposite the pier. Your video glanced at the site where I assume it is being rebuilt.
Finally a place I've been to. 😀 I saw the pier but didn't get to go on it. Now I'm a little sad. It's a great pier. We took a day trip during a London trip. It was a great day despite circumstances. Very memorable. We took the train to Eastbourne and walked along the sea front and up to the cliffs at Beachy Head. The plan was to walk to Birling Gap but it was misting (mid-Septemer) and I was coming down with a cold. Also I think someone may have just comitted suicide further along the cliffs. The road was closed, we saw a group of people standing around looking down, and we saw a coroner. We ate lunch at the inn at the top of the cliff and decided to get a cab back to the station, where we discovered that the signals were down and no trains could go in or out. We were eventually put on a bus to Lewes where we caught the last train back to London. What a day! I'll never forget it.
I have recently found you Tim & I must say your content is great 👍 Great quality editited perfectly giving great ideas for staycationing in our wonderful country 👌
honestly i never thought id like videos like this i was more like roman atwood style but the videos are just so well done also I'm sat here the entire time going do not go any further near the edge of that cliff 😂😂😂
The Bell Tout lighthouse that you spoke about Tim, Which was moved inland a few years ago, had a massive cliff fall not far from it and it lost it's access path, All happened a couple of days ago. The Eastbourne Pier is owned by the same man who owns Hastings pier, Hence all the gold paint and he has a gold Mercedes to match !
This is is a fantastic video you have produced. You have have captured everything that is attractive about Eastbourne and the nearby coast. Superb drone footage of the the lighthouse and the chalk cliffs. Great views of the promenade and the palm trees and impressive buildings. Thanks for another fantastic production.
I've just returned from a 5 day stay in Eastbourne. Got a lot out of walking on Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters. The hop-on-hop-off Tour Bus is highly recommended. Downside is the high street has more anti-social behaviour than I remember in my first visit in the 90s.
Absolutely love Eastbourne this I my second home have been coming here for over 40 years have family members living here it's a beautiful place, would love to live here
I have never been to Eastborne and was thinking of taking a holiday there it really looks a lovely place and I will definatetly be going thanks go your video
Hi Tim lovely walk I've been to Eastbourne a couple of times just for the day . It's so beautiful how lovely was the weather amazing views . Thankyou for sharing with us love to you as always Tracey 💕 xxxx
We have family in Eastbourne and miss coming over to see them, as they live near the village of mead we would walk most days, its a very pretty town, we would walk and then make sure we ended up for lunch at the Pilot Inn which became our pub to visit while we were there in 2015, which coincided with Airbourne Eastbourne airshow, now that was magic. Love the old town and there are many places to visit and see and things to do, so roll on when we can again return back to this part of the world. At 0.47 you show a lions head or statue I beleive there is a story about this and some others around Eastbourne of course beachy head the film scene where the vespa was driven off of the cliff near where you were, also an early jethro Tull music video was filmed there with the light house below, I found that spot back in 2003
Eastbourne gets a bad rap but your video helps prove how lovely and classy it is. Love it there! Glad you weren't there at Beachy Head for that cliff fall.
Visited Eastbourne twice back in October when i was staying at Combe Haven holiday park and i gotta say its my favourite place in Sussex and it has such a amazing pier and so much scenery of the English Channel and brilliant seafront the beach is fantastic too and paddled on both of my visits 1 times better than Hastings
How can I not like this vid about my home crib. I was born in EB and lived here my whole life, on the whole the it's a nice place to live, I used to live 5-10- min walk from the redoubt, the pier has changed there a couple of arcade type buildings one that burnt down and the area at the beginning of the pier with green had one the other was in building right behind or thinking about it the tea room might have been the 2nd it's been a while, the arcades right at the back was for years as long as I can remember was a night club, I also have an idea that viewing area at the end and upstairs used to be allowed I do have memories of being up there before (the gold on the pier is just paint I very doubt it is anything else), I remember when they had to move belle tout I think the place is called.
The pier is beautiful, the man who bought it , has really put a lot of work into pier. Was there this year there first day of Airshow . Been there twice in 10 months .
We holiday in Eastbourne at least 3 times a year, love the place, scenery is beautiful. We've been lucky enough to stay at the Grand Hotel a few times, going back there in October, nice video.
I live on the streets of Eastbourne if you ever come visit please come to the old TJ Hughes building you’ll find me sat on the floor. Feel free to bring food and water.
The pods on the beach are modern art beach huts... and sorry to say im quite sure you cant see Dover from Eastbourne. It's gold coloured paint used on the pier..love the way it glows when the suns on the roof tops... Sheikh's pier. Hopefully they will do something nice on the site of the burnt out hotel and something with the old TJ Hughes building, its too beautiful to just leave it. I like Eastbourne, its lovely there, they also have an amazing airshow in the summer.
I was lucky enough to sail past Beachy Head a few weeks ago on a splendid day much like on your visit. Went into Easbourne Marina but sadly not enough time to visit Easbourne itself which was a shame as it looks stunning. Thanks for visit though Tim ☺️
East Suffolk is beautiful. I used to go to day trips to Eastbourne etc when I lived in London. A lot of language students as STS and EF etc are situated in the seaside towns
Love Eastbourne, I live along the coast in Worthing and go there regularly for thr day! At the end of the peir if I remember rightly used to be a night club (this is going back 15 years back!), and sadly the peir did have a fire about 6 / 7 years back and had to rebuild some of it
Yes it was called Atlantis. Alot of Ghost stories in that end building aswell i have heard over the years. I know people who worked there who said chairs used to move about and stuff.
Thank you for this; I don't remember Eastbourne being so beautiful!! Interesting point about the flags; here in the US, there are flags everywhere. It's nice to see a Union Jack waving proudly like that on the front of this majestic sea front.
eastbourne and brighton beach pier looks preety much identical twin..even the emerald water colour looks same....i like your black and white top and shorts tim my fav colour..
Stayed in the grand a few years ago as we came for the County Cup tennis. Its an amazing hotel they even park the car for you. They have on the walls past famous people who have stayed there from like early 1900s etc. We didn't do much sightseeing because of the tennis but also as 1 day we just stayed around the pool and the other we went into the centre. We're going to the best western hotel next week as county tennis is there this year too. We might see the harbour this time
@@WalkWithMeTim I like watching your videos and subscribed to your channel :) By the way I got a question. What camera are you using? it looks so clear! Also what software do yo use to edit? Once went to Eastbourne 9 times in one year just to watch the speedway on a saturday night and we live in the midlands! Eastbourne is gorgeous. I would live there if i could. It has been much busier when i have been there than it is on this video though.
Hi there great video I really enjoyed it this video has certainly brought back some memories for me as Eastbourne is my second town as my grandmother lives in Eastbourne and I go to visit her once a week and I was even born at the Eastbourne DGH Hospital and I used to walk the sites of Eastbourne including the pier and I used to go on the pier a lot as a kid and what by the way just so you know what used to be the Atlantis nightclub now the Arcade was once the old pier theatre which my great grandmother used to always play the piano at when it was a theatre and when they were doing shows there and I also love to see shows at the theatres now in Eastbourne like the Congress or even the Devonshire Park theatre and I even loved walking in and around the band stand quite a bit as well and I also used to love coming to the beach and sitting there and watching shows like Airbourne which is Eastbourne's Air show and even the Lamas festival which takes place or used to take place I should say as it is not anymore near the Martello Towers and also I miss the old dome that used to be on the front part of the pier and used to be the Arcade before it burnt down I personally feel that the pier has not been the same since that burnt down but thank god though that the rest of the pier was saved though so at least the pier can still be in use so thank you again for making this fantastic video and reminding me of my childhood memories of coming to Eastbourne and visiting my Grandmother and seeing the sites of Eastbourne so keep up the good work and I will look forward to seeing many more of your walking tour video's of England's historic towns and cities in the future ok.
Hi tim great tour myself likes eastbourne its very old. one of the hotels on the sea front had a fire back in 2019 to why there is a gap there. myself only lives hour and half away.
@@WalkWithMeTim Yeah on the occasion s it's sunny in the UK it's just as nice (or dare I say even nicer than abroad). You will have to take Gaby for a walk there when she's had the baby. I guess she was too busy in superdrug shopping 😄 to go.
@@WalkWithMeTim I have family in Heacham, so after your intriguing vid on California, I'll be hitting the beach next week... Not that California, in the US. 😀😀 I wish!
I love Eastbourne (the sun looks glorious). PS I bumped into you yesterday at RMT gala. You Tube can be a small world.. lol. This video is wonderful & I love your channel.
I’m going back in November are used to go when I was a kid can’t wait to see what’s changed because I knew appear caught fire so can’t wait to see what that looks like now
The last time I was in Eastbourne was the evening the pier caught fire - I stayed there all night watching it burn and taking some photos... The arcade at the end used to be a nightclub, with the old arcade (that burned down) hitting you as you walked onto the pier. Having the more discreet rounded buildings to walk round at the entrance is a million times better. The old pier seemed to have been forgotten about and it looks like the fire has, from what I can see from your video been a good thing to regenerate it... PS, the painted gold heads are just painted gold so don't bother going back after hours with a hacksaw!
My parents have holiday home 5 miles from Eastbourne. Lots to do and see, best climate in the country on average. I assure you though its not a quiet place, often busy.
The Redoubt Fortress was built in 1804/5 as defence against Napoleon (like the Martello Towers), and not in 1887. The bandstand was built in 1935 (ie not nineteenth century) to replace several Edwardian 'birdcage' small bandstand along the seafront. Also those 'art deco' huts on seafront are very recent art installation additions - only a few years old.
Hi. Just watching this with my son he's 6 we got as far as the pier then he switched it off lol I will watch the rest later but the arcades used to be right at yhe front of the pier just where the 2 lions are that was the entrance to the original arcades. Where the arcades are now used to be a nightclub and above that was another bar/club. The gold is paint. The man who owns it is a sheikh if that's the right spelling he drives a gold car and owned numerous hotels etc in the town which he also had gold lions on. The room at the end of the pier was I believe a grand ballroom many years ago and there was a well known pianist Chris manion I think he was called (I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm wrong lol!) Regarding the fishing for a long time he refused to allow the fishing from the end of the pier. Think he finally realised it was a money spinner and allowed it again lol! I've lived in eastbourne all my life and the day that pier caught on fire I was not in town I was visiting my nan in Surrey I could not believe it when my sister sent me pictures of it ablaze. But it really is the most beautiful pier.

Thanks for giving it a watch jeff
Been dozens of times.
Great memories. 😊
😉
Nice to see the town I've lived In for the last 25 years from a different perspective
Glad you enjoyed it
I was lucky enough to spend a summer week in Eastbourne every year for about 35 years, working at the tennis event in Devonshire Park. Always a highlight of my year. Many of the top women players in the world used to attend a party for them in the nightclub at the end of the pier. As already mentioned, the large amusement machine building at the front part of the pier, before the tea room, was destroyed by fire. So too was a hotel opposite the pier. Your video glanced at the site where I assume it is being rebuilt.
oh maybe Barry , but I dont think I was aware lol
Watched your superb vlog the quality , colour was one of your top viewing I’ve seen best tonic to take my mind off other things thank you Tim👍👍
you are so welcome , hope you are feeling better
Amazing video Tim.I been there and I love the area. I'm going agine for bank holiday weekend and I can't wait to walk by the Cliffs again...
Thanks Anna, yes it so beautiful , remember to subscribe
@Mr Taylor thanx for the advice 🙏 I'll be very careful :)
THANKS FOR A WELL MADE AND PRESENTED VIDEO. I can confirm that it is gold paint on the pier. EXCELLENT
Wow thanks for letting us know thanks keith
I going Eastbourne this Saturday for a week staying at Haddon Hall Hotel I think Eastbourne is one of the loveliest holiday resorts in England

I have recently found you Tim & I must say your content is great 👍 Great quality editited perfectly giving great ideas for staycationing in our wonderful country 👌
Awesome, thank you chris
Went there regularly for a few years as we had some friends living there. Would love to go back soon and treat us to a couple of nights at the Grand.
honestly i never thought id like videos like this i was more like roman atwood style but the videos are just so well done also I'm sat here the entire time going do not go any further near the edge of that cliff 😂😂😂
lol Thank you means a lot!
The Bell Tout lighthouse that you spoke about Tim, Which was moved inland a few years ago, had a massive cliff fall not far from it and it lost it's access path, All happened a couple of days ago. The Eastbourne Pier is owned by the same man who owns Hastings pier, Hence all the gold paint and he has a gold Mercedes to match !
oh I didnt know that .. not much Gold Paint on Hastings pier tho lol
@@WalkWithMeTim He's working on it ! :-)
@@nicnak4475 lol
That was the old access path. A new one was built at the time the lighthouse was moved.

Wow would love to stay at the Grand in Eastbourne...it's like a Palace 🏰
Thanks Tim for the pier walk..a jewel in the crown indeed 🕌

This is is a fantastic video you have produced. You have have captured everything that is attractive about Eastbourne and the nearby coast. Superb drone footage of the the lighthouse and the chalk cliffs. Great views of the promenade and the palm trees and impressive buildings. Thanks for another fantastic production.
Glad you enjoyed it! renato
Never thought of going to Eastbourne but now after your great video it's on my plans 👍
I'm glad I can help lol
I've just returned from a 5 day stay in Eastbourne. Got a lot out of walking on Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters. The hop-on-hop-off Tour Bus is highly recommended. Downside is the high street has more anti-social behaviour than I remember in my first visit in the 90s.
Absolutely love Eastbourne this I my second home have been coming here for over 40 years have family members living here it's a beautiful place, would love to live here
Thanks Alison
No you really would not some of the areas are literally run down druggie areas
I have never been to Eastborne and was thinking of taking a holiday there it really looks a lovely place and I will definatetly be going thanks go your video
Yay
tim is just getting even better. it will be nice to him exploring the world soon with hopefully the end of the pandemic.
now that would be good! thank you for the very kind comment!
Love Eastbourne going 30 July 2023 on coach can't wait
It looks Beautiful! Can’t wait to visit!
thank for watching Clare
It's all a facade, EASTBOURNE like mist places have drug issues? Homelessness, thugs and drunks at night time and illegal immigrants!!
Hi Tim lovely walk I've been to Eastbourne a couple of times just for the day . It's so beautiful how lovely was the weather amazing views . Thankyou for sharing with us love to you as always Tracey 💕 xxxx
Glad you enjoyed it Tracey and thanks for watching .. I got lucky with the weather ;-)
At 0.47 you show a lions head or statue I beleive there is a story about this and some others around Eastbourne of course beachy head the film scene where the vespa was driven off of the cliff near where you were, also an early jethro Tull music video was filmed there with the light house below, I found that spot back in 2003
Wow thanks for the wealth of information Merle, I didnt know all of that!
Very nice,...well maintained..very smart..makes me homesick...very interesting...you picked a good day.
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent video as always. One of my favourite places.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@WalkWithMeTim beachy head is very nice but unfortunately there has been several suicides happen there over the years which is very sad.
yes I know its truly a beautiful and also very sad place
Beautiful. Planning to visit sometime soon . Thanks for the pre tour ☺️
Eastbourne gets a bad rap but your video helps prove how lovely and classy it is. Love it there! Glad you weren't there at Beachy Head for that cliff fall.
Does it?
@@WalkWithMeTim Long known as a place for the retirement community only but I don't know why. Having said that, I would retire there 😁
lol .. me too ;-)
Visited Eastbourne twice back in October when i was staying at Combe Haven holiday park and i gotta say its my favourite place in Sussex and it has such a amazing pier and so much scenery of the English Channel and brilliant seafront the beach is fantastic too and paddled on both of my visits 1 times better than Hastings
How can I not like this vid about my home crib. I was born in EB and lived here my whole life, on the whole the it's a nice place to live, I used to live 5-10- min walk from the redoubt, the pier has changed there a couple of arcade type buildings one that burnt down and the area at the beginning of the pier with green had one the other was in building right behind or thinking about it the tea room might have been the 2nd it's been a while, the arcades right at the back was for years as long as I can remember was a night club, I also have an idea that viewing area at the end and upstairs used to be allowed I do have memories of being up there before (the gold on the pier is just paint I very doubt it is anything else), I remember when they had to move belle tout I think the place is called.
what about the immigration ,, angers me as an eastbourian ,, town is ruined ,, check out ceylon place , ashford rd
Another great video Tim. Never visited Eastbourne looks a very lovely place. Thanks . Debbie & Patrick in New Zealand
You are very welcome
You'll have to come for the airshow in august
The pier is beautiful, the man who bought it , has really put a lot of work into pier.
Was there this year there first day of Airshow .
Been there twice in 10 months .
Love 💘 Eastbourne, the grand Hotel looks amazing.

I would have loved going on a boat to see if from the water!
They used to have speed boat trips from the end of the pier.
wow shame they stopped!
I watched this vid in Jan n moved here in Feb haha beautiful when it's a nice day
you are lucky its a great place
East Suffolk is beautiful. I used to go to day trips to Eastbourne etc when I lived in London. A lot of language students as STS and EF etc are situated in the seaside towns
East Suffolk?!? Eastbourne is on the Sussex coast.
@@grahamsmith17466 it should be Eastbourne but my mobile seem to be on auto correct cos I live in Suffolk
Love Eastbourne, I live along the coast in Worthing and go there regularly for thr day! At the end of the peir if I remember rightly used to be a night club (this is going back 15 years back!), and sadly the peir did have a fire about 6 / 7 years back and had to rebuild some of it
yes I heard that tbh I didn't want to mention in the video
Yes it was called Atlantis. Alot of Ghost stories in that end building aswell i have heard over the years. I know people who worked there who said chairs used to move about and stuff.
My spiritual home 😍 Moved here from Portsmouth 8 years ago and I've never looked back 👌
lucky you
Thank you for this; I don't remember Eastbourne being so beautiful!! Interesting point about the flags; here in the US, there are flags everywhere. It's nice to see a Union Jack waving proudly like that on the front of this majestic sea front.
Glad you enjoyed it! yes I agree

We might see the harbour this time
have fun

@@WalkWithMeTim Rate My Takeaway premiere yesterday :)
PS, the painted gold heads are just painted gold so don't bother going back after hours with a hacksaw!
lol good advice! wow that must have been a crazy night , so sad
This comment sounds like you enjoyed watching your arson unfold 🤣
@@snoopzakadave I wasn't intending on being there all night, I missed the last bus home so just stayed there until they started up again...
My parents have holiday home 5 miles from Eastbourne. Lots to do and see, best climate in the country on average. I assure you though its not a quiet place, often busy.
yes specially when the sun comes out
The Redoubt Fortress was built in 1804/5 as defence against Napoleon (like the Martello Towers), and not in 1887. The bandstand was built in 1935 (ie not nineteenth century) to replace several Edwardian 'birdcage' small bandstand along the seafront. Also those 'art deco' huts on seafront are very recent art installation additions - only a few years old.
I know shame it was shut
But it really is the most beautiful pier.
lol no worries Jane , thanks for sharing! yes I love this pier
