The principal glory of Bournemouth is its beach. Town itself is ok, but that golden stretch is a wonderful place to be on a warm, sunny day.

I remember the pier being reconstructed when I was young and there used to be two huts under the pier, one to buy chips and the other sold fresh fish. They reconstructed that stream through the gardens too, I think it looked better before the they changed it, I would also like to add... bring back the lighting of the candles on Wednesdays through the summer months PLEASE

When my girlfriend and I were at Southampton University in the late 80s we often used to take a slow drive to Bournemouth on a Sunday morning. ‘One day we’ll live here!’ we both declared. Thirty years later were living on the outskirts of the Mojave desert. I guess things don’t go according to plan 😄 Wonderful memories of the gorgeous south coast of England.

I live in Bournemouth, I agree that underpass right by the pier is ugly but before it was built you had to cross what has over the years become a very busy road and shutting it would make getting around town an absolute nightmare.
If any councillors read this for gods sake do something with it, surely it could be beautified in some way.

Grew up in Bournemouth and most of my family still live there while I escaped just up the road to the NewForest. Whenever I walk through Bournemouth gardens I always remember the story my nan told me when I was younger. During the Second World War a lone German fighter came down strafing the gardens while people went about their day. Thankfully a woman pulled her aside and they both took shelter before the lone plane scuttled back across the channel. Apart from that little bit of history the rest of Bournemouth is a sore sight, the gardens and the sea front are probably the only areas worth visiting, anyhow great video. 👍🏻

As somebody who grew up on a rough Birmingham council estate and now lives in Southbourne with a home overlooking bowling greens I'll have to disagree with you, most of Bournemouth is still beautiful...probably not as beautiful as it once was but few places are.

@@paulhanson5164 I’ll also have to agree to some extent, I was up working in Wolverhampton last month and boy I couldn’t wait to get home. But as someone who was born and raised here I have seen the significant decline in what it used to be like.

Harry Ramsden's in the mid sixties was a pub and the terrace was called The Quarterdeck Bar I had more than a few pints of Double Diamond (DD) in there, the Pavilion was a great disco and I spent a lot of Friday and Saturday nights in there, also knew a lot of girls that worked in Bobby's (Debenham's) and Forte's, I've lived in Australia for over 40 years now but always visit Bournemouth when we go back. I agree the flyover has spoilt the look of the transition from the gardens to the beach, but it is safer. now I'll watch your Sandbanks video, spent a lot of time there as well.

Alum chine, Branksome & Sandbanks such awesome places along the front there love it.

Thanks for showing a different perspective to beautiful Bournemouth Tim. I have been there many times, and you have made me want to go again. Some of the hotels on East and West Cliffs are really interesting, so it would have been great to see some of them too, though I realise that it may have made the video too long. Thanks.

Bournemouth is my favourite UK holiday destination. There use to be surf boards on the wall at that restaurant that you could stand on and take a photo. Haven’t been to Bournemouth now for a few years, the homeless people put me off as there was too many and lots of beggars every time we went out in the evening. Just made me feel uncomfortable and a bit sad seeing them while I was on holiday enjoying myself.

Im Suprised. Im a Bournemouth Boy 59 year young. You made Bournemouth look very nice. I go to the Town centre once a year tops for the airshow so would have been there a few days b4 you. If Bournemouth was always like that I would go more oftern. Perhaps visit early one morning along the beach and video all the drunks and Druggies emerging from every nook and cranny might be fun. Its like a Zombie movie :-)

When you walked by where Debenhams was, by what you called the piñatas, that used to be a roundabout with a clock on it. I think the clock is now part of the cafe in more or less it’s original place.

Unexpected to see a video of my town show up in my recommended. Glad you enjoyed your time here. Make sure to come back when the airshow comes on. Not to mention check out the events on Poole Quay when they show up, as well as surrounding locations across the harbour. Not as touristy, but very nice spots nonetheless.
