Jumper T16 Teardown & Review

  • There's a new player in the RC world and that's Jumper T16.
    A Remote Control around the 150$ mark that I believe would satisfy every pilot out there. It has almost everything you would desire: good looks, awesome features, future proof, and the list could go on. I am genuinely impressed by it after I took it apart.
    Its exterior design and gimbals come from Futaba radios but the internal electronics are completely Jumper designed(can't say anything about the actual schematics).
    Only time would tell if the reliability is on par with everything else but from what I have seen inside it should not be an issue.

    So you *can* set the screen to turn off after inactivity completely, multiple reviewers said you can only have backlight dimmed. The internal module PCB was wishful thinking - the fist pictures and description of this radio that were released were showing an internal 4in1 module with a free JR bay. This has been Jumper's goal for quite a while now, but I am guessing OpenTX doesn't want to help them support 4in1 as an internal module because that would be a huge advantage over FrSky radios. I am very tempted to get this one, but I am gonna try to wait and see what the Plus version brings, and hoping it's the internal 4in1 module so I can just stick the Crossfire module in the back and forget about modules forever :)

    • @sigee32
      @sigee32 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You cant turn off the screen but you can set the back light to 0 after x amount of seconds which is almost the same as turning the screen off. No internal module due to OpenTX not supporting it (yet).

    I've watched your other videos. Your teardown and your comments are a big endorsement for this radio! Have you seen. The video from RC model reviews and the issue he is having with emergency mode? I'm hoping his issues are a one off, I'm eyeing this for my next radio. I would really like to see you mod this radio and put the module internal! ;)

      The thing is the problem with having only the external module. it means I can't use an official frSky module. and I really don't trust these all in one modules to be nearly as good as an official fRSky module that has some crazy range and stability.

    • @neotock
      @neotock 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MeshJedi what problem ? Frsky has original external module if you want to use this only for frsky

    • @MeshJedi
      @MeshJedi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@neotock But I didn't want to use it just for frSky. I want both an allInOne module for the cheap crap and horizon models, and a proper frSky module for the planes I don't want to risk and I want/need good range on. like my D9 where I have a built in FrSky and a allInOne module. this should have integrated allInOne and the ability for a FrSky Module.

    Thanks for the review. I have a qx7s that has the Xfire mod. The fact that I am not sure if the mod worked makes want to sell mine and buy this radio. There would be no latency issues with xfire, which would put my mind at ease as I try more medium to long range flying.

      Just put some lead weights in your qx7 and it feels premium. it's what a lot of manufacturers of premium electronics do. B&O actually (used to) add led weights to their A/V remotes to make them feel premium. plastic is plastic. it's the weight of the insides that adds the "premium" feel.
