Juhi Chaturvedi is really underrated as a writer , one doesn’t hear about her often even after three amazing movies : Vicky Donor, Piku, and October . She is probably the greatest since Salim-Javed.

Nope in this film with no disrespect to irfan the centre of attraction was amitabh bachan, don't be that jealous of amitabh bachan man if you watched the whole film you will agree with me.
This is why the interval is so important. It's an art form in itself, not just a random break. A good filmmaker will always know how to write/direct the interval to extract maximum impact. Even though Piku is not the kind of script that lends itself to a dramatic interval point, they did a fantastic job. Fascinating stuff!
When I saw Piku for the first time in the theatre, this scene was something completely different. The language changed, the style changed. You can actually see things not actually being in control because Deepika gives it away. But then you look at the improvs from Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan and how much this dynamic adds on to the storyline. It's just amazing artistry. Irrfan improvising here is a challenge in itself, due to the sheer brilliance of Amitabh Bachchan, I'd say only Irrfan is capable of doing this. Irrfan is one such actor who never belonged in commercial mainstream Hindi cinema of the 21st century, but was instrumental in bringing this positive change in the mindset of the random cinegoer that content and acting are important in this industry and once that was established he became the king of it. That's what hurts the most, the fact that he made content driven films mainstream and he won't be there to reap the fruits of his hardwork.
He streaked through the industry like a comet, an other-worldly superstar whose brilliance as an actor was matched by a dazzling intellect and coruscating charisma that illuminated Bollywood as never before. This scene is very well performed and very funny. Usually capturing scenes of quarrel and chaos is difficult but improvising them is difficult too. Didn't know it was improvised a lot. Great job by Mr.Bachchan and Irrfan Khan! We miss you, Irrfan!

This movie has a special place in my heart. From the beginning music to the end badminton scene, I love everything about it everything. So many heart touching dialogues and melodious songs. It is amazing how a frozen frame reveals so much more about the underlying language. The interval point shot (6:37) summarizes the story, at its interval perfectly! No doubt cinema is poetry in motion. Ironically, a frozen frame explains the motion. Piku and its motions...

I can always watch Piku over and over again because there is no huge plot, no thriller, no big action it is just pure acting of three main characters and supported by others. I do not get bored of that movie.

Hi Anupama, Amazing video once again! I think that line is something that I should copy on my clipboard permanently to use it on your videos. The kind of insights that we get from your videos just goes to show how prolific our industry is. As PC mentioned in one of your interviews with her, people still think that our film industry is just a rip off of Hollywood and we are confined by the boundaries of musical format. It has always been difficult to explain why that is not the case and that is primarily because we, as laymen, did not know how to prove it. But, with your videos, we can do so and refer your videos to people. Some of my non-Indian colleagues have seen your interviews with PC and others and they started respecting Indian cinema. Loved this video because Piku is one of my most favorite movies. It’s subtle and apparent at the same time and the joy that you experience while watching it is amazing. Oh God, I saw many times Piku, Irrfanji what an actor, feels like his character in the filim is really existed in this world, that end hope he is still alive, and continue to smash for life, I love all three characters, but don't know when Rana just appeared on screen, it was soothing, I believe if I could meet him in person, could tell how big fan am I, RIP Irrfan sir, may be we missed another Shoojith Sircar movie of his, ....but to tell even words are less for a legend, his off screen personality and clean image tell us all, he was different certainly gem of an actor 😢🙏

@@pmanju1381 i can totally understand you, just watched Piku twice in last 2 days. I love the film and the characters. But character of Rana stuck with me. The way he enters Piku's life, teases her/flirts, implicitly supports her and also scolds her baba when he becomes too fussy. He also has his emotional moments when asked about his father's death. The characters are so real, they don't feel fictional. Needless to say Irrfan is an incredible actor and has given many epic performances and was irreplaceable in each of them. But the character of Rana, to me, seems much more rare. It's like that Character required the touch Irrfan's own personality, mannerisms, headspace and patience. Otherwise it would have just look fictional anyway and not come to life. As much as I rejoice watching his performances, they remind that he's no more which hurts for sure. But the relief it is to watch him makes it worth it. Honestly, I feel his true fans longed to see him perform much more and it's hard to accept it won't happen. Will just cherish his existing craft by watching all his films. Nice to share with someone who understands how I feel about this.

Honestly feels reliving to share with someone who feels mutually. My friends have either not watched film or just like it, none has such a deep affection for the characters. Irrfan was asked during Piku promotions "what other genre would like to do with Deepika?" He replied, "I would love to do many more romantic films with her. I love looking at her when she performs". Deepika would refer to him as "my most favorite person". It touched me so much. Life can honestly be unfair. Yes, Shoojit Sir is totally an actor's director, gives them liberty to figure out a character and respond on their own. That's why his characters feel so real. Shoojit sircar sir The Knife dilemma scene was excellently improvised..The actors perfectly made a natural scene without script....I really liked the wide shot....and specifically the shot where Mr Amitabh Bacchan sir sits on the left with grumpy look ...Deepika mam sits there in the car confused.....and Irrfan Sir (What to do now) faced...

You had a very versatile team in Piku and I felt apathetic towards Deepika because I have my mum who has a problem with constipation and I go through the same dialogues almost every day. Mum and myself loved this movie we enjoyed it ❤️❤️
Sujit soorcar , you have directed the Hindi film Piku , and you have done it as a bengalee director. Now see , I am a bengalee and my sister gave the name of my daughter as Piku on 11 . 01 . 94 . There was no particular reason , but , I felt somewhat awakward , in calling my girl Piku . From then onwards whenever l engage in seeing your film , respected Big b with his more than baritone voice hammered Piku into my brain and mind. Again , Mr. Director, I always became unified with Dipeeka , off and on , since my mother is of same nature as depicted by Big b. In the reel cast. irfan , what I say , superbe .

Sir when I watched this clips in the movie for the first time it made me tooooo much laught seeing the verbal quarrel between three people. I miss irrfan sir soooooo much.
Piku is my most favorite movie. Actually meri baba ko bhi constipation hai and we are bengali, so I can relate the movie. It's not just a movie for me it's an emotion.
The excellent number of views for this specific video shows Inside the Scene such as this one, narrated by the creator, supporting visuals clip by clip can generate huge viewership. It's unfortunate Film Companion hasn't recorded and posted more Inside the Scene or Behind the Scene thought process videos. It'll be such a treat and a knowledge / learning bank for aspiring actors, filmmakers, videographers and all those involved in producing a movie.
This seen was a perfect combination of three legendary actors. Salute to SS and JC. It is such a painful reality now that we have lost one of our finest actors Irfan at his very young age.
Piku is my go-to comfort movie, not a film that can be forgotten with time. Thank you Shoojit and team, especially Juhi for giving us this gem.

Amazing video once again! I think that line is something that I should copy on my clipboard permanently to use it on your videos. The kind of insights that we get from your videos just goes to show how prolific our industry is. As PC mentioned in one of your interviews with her, people still think that our film industry is just a rip off of Hollywood and we are confined by the boundaries of musical format. It has always been difficult to explain why that is not the case and that is primarily because we, as laymen, did not know how to prove it. But, with your videos, we can do so and refer your videos to people. Some of my non-Indian colleagues have seen your interviews with PC and others and they started respecting Indian cinema.
Loved this video because Piku is one of my most favorite movies. It’s subtle and apparent at the same time and the joy that you experience while watching it is amazing. This scene was definitely a favorite and I can’t believe how organic it was. No wonder it was captivating.

This is the best movie of few decades. I have seen this movie several times. Once I saw twice in a day. Now if it is on TV I will not miss it.
Though I am not much of a Bollywood fan, I absolutely love the content series! Coming more from a business angle, you can have so many brands as partners for this one. It's an amazing property to have. Great job

Oh God, I saw many times Piku, Irrfanji what an actor, feels like his character in the filim is really existed in this world, that end hope he is still alive, and continue to smash for life, I love all three characters, but don't know when Rana just appeared on screen, it was soothing, I believe if I could meet him in person, could tell how big fan am I, RIP Irrfan sir, may be we missed another Shoojith Sircar movie of his, ....but to tell even words are less for a legend, his off screen personality and clean image tell us all, he was different certainly gem of an actor 😢🙏

@@piyusha3571 yes, it's terrible to know that he is not with us physically, so many characters of his with superb acting, but now I am watching only Piku again and again don't want any other memory to take that place, don't want this memory of Rana to go off from me, I don't know people might find me crazy, just two weeks before his death I watched Talvars, I don't know, am not anybody to question God, but all of a sudden his demise feels sad.,he had beaten almost Cancer, there was hope that he will come back.. .., he was a positive person, so let's God give all of us courage to with stand.
@@pmanju1381 i can totally understand you, just watched Piku twice in last 2 days. I love the film and the characters. But character of Rana stuck with me. The way he enters Piku's life, teases her/flirts, implicitly supports her and also scolds her baba when he becomes too fussy. He also has his emotional moments when asked about his father's death. The characters are so real, they don't feel fictional. Needless to say Irrfan is an incredible actor and has given many epic performances and was irreplaceable in each of them. But the character of Rana, to me, seems much more rare. It's like that Character required the touch Irrfan's own personality, mannerisms, headspace and patience. Otherwise it would have just look fictional anyway and not come to life. As much as I rejoice watching his performances, they remind that he's no more which hurts for sure. But the relief it is to watch him makes it worth it. Honestly, I feel his true fans longed to see him perform much more and it's hard to accept it won't happen. Will just cherish his existing craft by watching all his films. Nice to share with someone who understands how I feel about this.
@@piyusha3571 true, exactly I feel the same way, rarely I do comment on TH-cam, it's just the love I had for Rana( just redefined romance on screen, matured love) and Irrfan sir, I even dreamt him yesterday , to sink in to the reality might takes time, Rana I will always love that character, may be missed him sing songs to deepika on screen as he quoted in Rajeev Masand show 2019 may, your reply and observations on the character is bang on and shows how much you like the character, it was nice to share my thoughts to a person who liked Rana as much as I did, Deepika also wonderful as Piku,and I do identified myself with that character, thanks to Shoojit Sircar for gifting us this movie,
@@pmanju1381 true, loved and related to Piku's character. It is definitely Deepika's best performance. So is Amitabh ji's, even Irrfan said, Amitji best performance was Piku. Honestly feels reliving to share with someone who feels mutually. My friends have either not watched film or just like it, none has such a deep affection for the characters. Irrfan was asked during Piku promotions "what other genre would like to do with Deepika?" He replied, "I would love to do many more romantic films with her. I love looking at her when she performs". Deepika would refer to him as "my most favorite person". It touched me so much. Life can honestly be unfair. Yes, Shoojit Sir is totally an actor's director, gives them liberty to figure out a character and respond on their own. That's why his characters feel so real. You had a very versatile team in Piku and I felt apathetic towards Deepika because I have my mum who has a problem with constipation and I go through the same dialogues almost every day. Mum and myself loved this movie we enjoyed it ❤️❤️
Sujit soorcar , you have directed the Hindi film Piku , and you have done it as a bengalee director. Now see , I am a bengalee and my sister gave the name of my daughter as Piku on 11 . 01 . 94 . There was no particular reason , but , I felt somewhat awakward , in calling my girl Piku . From then onwards whenever l engage in seeing your film , respected Big b with his more than baritone voice hammered Piku into my brain and mind. Again , Mr. Director, I always became unified with Dipeeka , off and on , since my mother is of same nature as depicted by Big b. In the reel cast. irfan , what I say , superbe .

Piku is my most favorite movie. Actually meri baba ko bhi constipation hai and we are bengali, so I can relate the movie. It's not just a movie for me it's an emotion.
The excellent number of views for this specific video shows Inside the Scene such as this one, narrated by the creator, supporting visuals clip by clip can generate huge viewership. It's unfortunate Film Companion hasn't recorded and posted more Inside the Scene or Behind the Scene thought process videos. It'll be such a treat and a knowledge / learning bank for aspiring actors, filmmakers, videographers and all those involved in producing a movie.
Seeing Mr Bachchan
on screen was like seeing my late father being alive once again, hats off to the all the actors in the movie.
This seen was a perfect combination of three legendary actors. Salute to SS and JC. It is such a painful reality now that we have lost one of our finest actors Irfan at his very young age.
