Hey! Why don't you make a video on how beautiful this film was? That this was Bollywood's La La Land made in 2015. At least that way this movie will get a 8+ IMDb which it deserves.
This scene and the lead into "agar tum sath ho" song was so hard hitting that it made me feel exposed, vulnerable and hurt all at the same time. #Tamasha is a psychological exposition of feelings and pain and maybe even the effect that certain people have upon us. But whatever it is, it is a masterpiece! I've found myself coming back to this sequence and song a lot many times and I've always been captivated by it. Good work cinema :)
Only those people will understand Tara's pain who have loved someone due to a certain quality but still wanting to love even if that quality no longer exists in him/her...Tamasha is a roller-coaster of philosophical emotions...Imtiaz at his best...
Man man man..... This was one of the most underrated movie of decade some just cause of Indian audiences movies like bodyguard, Chennai express etc becomes blockbuster and movies like tamasha struggle!
ANMOL dude forget Chennai Exp and bodyguard, even cheap cinema like Juduwa2 and that trashy golmal sequal becomes a hit. Expect what kind of films that would prefered to be produced if that is the case.
aminaf6 can’t really call Golmaal sequel such as Golmaal 3 as trashy, both have their own audience, I loved Golmaal 3 but I also loved Tamasha and thought it was a masterpiece when I first saw it, it all depends on how you connect with the movie. To each to its own.
its because people want to be entertained. not everyone is up for an art or niche cinema. They just want to have a good time in the cinema with their entire family. Tamasha is a movie one can watch by himself and enjoy the lessons, cinematography etc. You cant force people into watching these movie, at the end of the day public watch what they want to watch even if its judwa2
Tamasha is a masterpiece, one of the best all time films in hindi cinema. It was the first time I was disapointed in our audience, if you didnt understand it the first time then OK just give it a second chance. Most people couldnt understand the complexities Ved was going through and I wish they did, I wish people understood the hard hitting reality of how the society could trap a man and keep him from being his true self like being caged. If you really understood it could change your life. I remember going out of the theatre learning a lesson on how to live life and so did my little sister. If this was a hollywood flick it wouldve been humongous, movies like 'Black Swan' wouldve tanked if it was a bollywood movie.
what i felt is that the emotions and complexities that ved goes through are abstract and u can understand it or relate it to it only if you have gone through something similar
My absolute favourite scene. That whole song sequence is so beautifully shot. Special kudos to the cinematographer. The gentle touch of Deepika on Ranbir's hair and his emotional collapse, it couldn't have been shown more beautifully by anyone.
No other actress could have acted like Deepika acted in this scene. So much of depth and understanding of the character which translated on screen beautifully. She didn't used glycerin to cry, that speaks for itself how wonderfully and honestly she performed her craft.
Tamasha is not just a movie, it's a philosophy. I can't even remember how many times I watched this masterpiece. The whole movie is about a dilemma between the "Actor Me" and the "Real Me" and the irony is that the actor me is "Real" and the real me is a product of "Society, Relatives and Families". Thank you Imtiaz Ali Sir for this masterpiece ❤
I think its love for the people that makes us do gud things...the trueself of us can only be seen by people who understand us very well...and they are very few...
No worry, those people didn't deserved the movie at very first place. They were just looking for a mellow dramatic love story. Hats off to IMTIAZ ALI !
This scene will go down as one of the most cult scenes in history of Indian cinema! It carries the essence of Tamasha. Almost, everything about this confrontation is perfect leading up to the song. Deepika and Ranbir barring their soul and are as raw as one can be and then the soul stirring rahman composition taking it away from there backed by brilliant cinematography. No one understands and shows the complexity of the human mind on celluloid better than Imtiaz Ali. A true jem!
That sigh was so poignant, it truly felt like he was watching and feeling it like an audience instead of a creator showing off his creation. That sigh gave away how moved he is by that scene. I think he would’ve broke down a little but didn’t want to seem like he’s being dramatic or is boasting about his work.
Deepika channeled her true feelings for Ranbir during this scene. She loved him truly! A girl wouldn't get tattooed for a guy she was "just dating". She has got this kinda of love from Ranveer now. She deserves the deepest form of pure love. ♥
.. That heavy sigh of breath and the kind of lump in throat expressions by Imtiaz while sharing his thoughts at 9:06 - 9:07. Hard to deny such emotions, even the maker himself could not escape the profound effect of the scene, as the music began to hum. Hats off to all those involved in bringing this emotionally moving scene to life !!!
Look at her, how perfect she is in her craft ..no doubt ,legendary❤️ .i don't understand y ppl r trying to pull her down with all this negative today...irony is that she is also self made and sweet passionate person who is amazing at her work...
I think the reason why so many of us loved this scene so much, is because the people who portrayed it had such a good handle on the complexity of the emotions here. They weren’t acting out vulnerability, they were vulnerable. The point about how sometimes you wish to push away the only people who understand you, because you’re scared of them being able to see through to the part of you that you’ve denied for so long. This is some real basal energy. And that’s what the audience connected to, I think. I could watch the entire film just for this sequence. It’s a brilliant performance by every person involved in the making of it, the actors, the director, the writer, the cinematographer, the composer, the editor, and everyone else. I don’t know what it is that the actors tapped into while playing this out, but it was almost overwhelmingly powerful. This entire scene is just... raw. The messy, desperate nature of human emotion, an absolute masterpiece- the film, and the scene.

This is the only movie who really blew up my mind. I yelled inside so much much for months and at last I found myself. In my real life I too have a second personality where in I am just like a free bird. I am very aggressive by noticing so called social formalities. Every one is tagging others by saying hello how are you, no body cares how next person is but just as a formality almost every fucking people says this. I truly believe in this movie and will remain very close to my heart forever. It taught me a big lesson and dragged my attention towards pure emotions.
Amazing movie, Felt so good, I just rewatched some scenes today afternoon and then this video pops up in the evening. Tamasha is a work which needs multiple viewings to be understood. You cannot simply watch the film twice and say “Okay, I know this Film”. Brilliant dialogues again, Piyush Mishra is simply outstanding with his parts. Really hope we get another Gem like Tamasha very soon.
I don't know Indian movie stories r changing or what that makes me feel watching some deep n thoughtful movies. Mr. Imtiaz Ali has a precious mind, I adore him, his brilliant mind n dignity. Nowadays that I'm looking forward to find people who actually think deeply, he is a gem.
I love everything about this scene...every word every note of "agar tum saath ho" is so pure heart touching & soulful...it is indeed very cinematic i cry every single time watching this scene😢😊😊❤❤💯
After that when he left and hide somewhere and she goes to find him and when she sees him and sit down at the ground. This made me crying badly. 😭😭😭 deepika acted outstandingly well. Like she is accepting her big mistake that breaking his heart or touching his most sensitive complexion in mind. Even believe me while. Writing this I still have tears in my eyes. It effected me that much. It's 90% my Story. God bless you sir Imtiaz you made psychological moments of love and reality inside in movie.
This Scene starred by Ved and Tara is The Best Modern Day Tragical heartbreak.None could have done better than these Two.They Deserve Standing Ovations 😇❣️
Dear Imtiyaz u said no glycerine or any other thing was used still tears were flowing down from both the actors. Never seen before such chemistry or maybe it was there hidden love for each other 💞 mind blowing 💖
This is by far the greatest scene of modern cinema. The feelings are so well understated and they lead to greater tention. Cinematography is so well done for this scene.
Conflict is a crazy situation. And when conflict is internal, within, with noone but yourself, it becomes even crazier. The topic here is very well handled, shown, acted. Hats off first to pick such a topic for a bollywood movie, and then to the art itself... all the artists from actors to cinematographers to background music to singers... awesome work.
This has been one of the best movies I've ever seen, something that resonated in my heart. Team FC, I love these videos, please more of these! I could sit and watch this for not just a scene, but the whole movie!
Tamasha is an underrated masterpiece. The movie in itself is magnificent. The acting of Ranbir and Deepika is appreciable. It is sad and unfortunate that audience not liked the movie.
"We are our true-self only ,in front of few "..,Tamasha has been one of the best movies ,i have ever seen and i remember i couldn't get out of it even for next 3 days.I wonder why it was not commercially that successful and i feel good when people who admire such cinema are increasing .
My favorite Imtiaz Ali film till date. Great insight into the scene. Really helped me understand the already complex, multi layered lead characters. This film will have a cult following down the years. Shame that people missed this gem. p.s., And SRK strong elbowed this genius into making that pile of garbage. Joke's on him!!!
He missed a great chance of letting Imtiaz do his thing. I was so hyped for that movie. And it turned out to be yet another SRK business model. It could have been so much more. Had all the ingredients to be a great film. Bummer!
I dnt think it was SRK's fault.....it was imtiaz only who should be blamed for JHMS...he was the writer as well as director....I cud not even believe JHMS is his creation...esp.after tamasha.....but I dnt think Shahrukh is anyway responsible for the weak script
finally...it was one my favourite scenes in a movie ever..so SO beautifully crafted & performed by these two amazing actors !! a big applaud for the whole team..and love the song as well..still listening to it every other day.. bdw, i've been waiting for ever for Kangana Ranaut-Imtiaj Ali Tape-Cast..when is it gonna come out ???
This movie is so underrated because few people have that experience or wisdom to understand this... Imtiaz Ali is one of few my favorite directors and writers in the bollywood

Absolutely love that scene, Imtiaz! Its beautifully acted and captured. Beautiful work with lighting set up as well!! Love the stories and moments you bring up on screen! Thank you very very much Film Companion for doing such a great work!!! You guys are really awesome. Lots of love!
Film companion thanks for sharing. Imtiaz Sir I am simply awestruck. thanks for sparing your time for wonderfully breaking down the scene and explaining the subtleties for the audience Tamasha is one of the best works in recent times of Hindi Cinema.
Thank god for imtiaz ali. I mean without this director we wouldn't have the opportunity to see film like this in bollywood which presents the realistic situations in a dramatic way.
Thank you so much Film Companion for this. ❤️ Always wanted the insight for this scene. Loved the movie to the core. Huge fan of Imtiaz Ali, Ranbir & Deepika.
I saw this film a couple of times and I would agree that it couldn't reach the depth it was supposed to, emotionally as a whole. But If you're a cinephile, you'd never want to miss a chance to analyse the art that Imtiaz Ali showcases.Honestly, It is not something you can easily interpret or even feel for that matter. But if you do connect with him, He'll take you on a ride which is pretty much uncomfortable yet so comforting. Personally, This scene is very close to my heart. It makes me weak,It makes me numb,It takes me to the darkest places that I never want to go. It reminds of the emotional mess that you are in,when you are in love. It is devastating and soothing at the same time. That is Imtiaz take on Love. Ever so wonderful. This video has inspired me to take my work to next level. And it makes me believe in the art that you are. Thank you ever so much Team Film Companion for videos like this. Finally,Now I know why I love Imtiaz Ali so much.

I was already a fan of this scene and now knowing that there was no requirement to cry and neither was there use of glycerin but they are both crying and it the tears especially the one that falls out of Ranveer's eyes when she touches his head is just so perfect!! I am even more a fan of this scene, movie, and the actors!!

Hats off to imtiaz sir, Ranbir, Deepika and everyone who was a part of this masterpiece of emotional, thought provoking and cult film. Just a big big thank you for this film
Very well described the scenes. As a director, it becomes very important to go to the deepest level of emotional state to sense the written scene and then articulate it to the actors in a language in which is they understand it properly. Imitiaz Ali is really an artist. He understands art so well that every depiction of him for any character becomes remarkable, be it Heer from JWM or Bunny from YJHD, or this Ved character here. Layers are there from all perspectives - Cinematography, composition, lyrics, lights, background environment, clothing, expressions, tones, sound - everything is so thoughtful that it ultimately describes the scene well
Imtiaz. You did a brilliant job with this film. This film is beautiful. People who dont like this film were incapable of understanding the soul of the movie and recognizing its beauty.

"sometimes you really fear those people that can see through you" great line sir...
Man this is simply priceless, the way imtiaz delves into the emotional journey of it just makes it so much better
Can you imagine the intensity of this scene???
@ 09:04 director also broke out in tears...
A film that changed my perspective towards life.....
This Scene starred by Ved and Tara is The Best Modern Day Tragical heartbreak.None could have done better than these Two.They Deserve Standing Ovations 😇❣️
We demand those 3 songs too, PLEASE !!!
WOW. Didn't know so much goes into making every single nuance of a scene! Thankyou for this. Tamasha- The most underrated film ever!
Dear Imtiyaz u said no glycerine or any other thing was used still tears were flowing down from both the actors. Never seen before such chemistry or maybe it was there hidden love for each other 💞 mind blowing 💖
it is my most favorite scene in the movie.. just love Deepika and Ranbir.... cinematography and choreography is just amazing.. so intense !
Arguably the best scene of the film.
This is by far the greatest scene of modern cinema. The feelings are so well understated and they lead to greater tention. Cinematography is so well done for this scene.
the way Tu sath ho starts 😍
The way this man explained the process, in precise and concise manner, I am in love with this man.
It is very difficult to capture that kind emotion on screen but this scene really did capture brilliantly. I bow down to the team🙏
one of most underrated movie of recent time... hats off
Only ranbir and deepika could do this scene so well - they have become such amazing actors.
The way he is justifying every moment of scene is just commendable. True Gem 💎
It's been a very heart touching for me in love with the acting of Deepika and ranbeer😍
This has been one of the best movies I've ever seen, something that resonated in my heart.
Team FC, I love these videos, please more of these!
I could sit and watch this for not just a scene, but the whole movie!
But in tamasha movie there is no song agar tum sath ho
And more then 2 years of the movie still rulling hearts thanks for the movie imtihaz sir

Jesse Pinkman I think only Ranbir is perfect as a lead actor in an Imtiaz Ali fim
Dont need to be one to appreciate Tamasha. It talks to everyone who doesnt want to be the rat!
What was that about srk?
He missed a great chance of letting Imtiaz do his thing. I was so hyped for that movie. And it turned out to be yet another SRK business model. It could have been so much more. Had all the ingredients to be a great film. Bummer!
I dnt think it was SRK's fault.....it was imtiaz only who should be blamed for JHMS...he was the writer as well as director....I cud not even believe JHMS is his creation...esp.after tamasha.....but I dnt think Shahrukh is anyway responsible for the weak script
The best inside the scene I've seen so far... Thanks for this Film Companion!
finally...it was one my favourite scenes in a movie ever..so SO beautifully crafted & performed by these two amazing actors !!
a big applaud for the whole team..and love the song as well..still listening to it every other day..
bdw, i've been waiting for ever for Kangana Ranaut-Imtiaj Ali Tape-Cast..when is it gonna come out ???
I would like to communicate with you. Can I get your email address?
"tum saath ho" is my absolute favourite.I cannot imagine any other song in that scene.
This movie is so underrated because few people have that experience or wisdom to understand this... Imtiaz Ali is one of few my favorite directors and writers in the bollywood
So sensitive. ...so emotional. ...the kind of feel Imtiaz generates is outstanding. ...love you deepikaaaaa
Thank you Imitiaz Ali ,Ranbir,Deepika entire crew cast for the masterpiece 🙏🙌
I wish he also took us inside that scene just before the interval outside the restaurant when Tara confronts Ved and leaves him. 💔
literaly i have no words. i cant go thru this scene without crying. how dare you venture into the innermost hidden parts of my heart. i feel like ranbirs character. this is limitless.
Deep, pure, selfless love showed in this song. Blessed are those people who get such lovers.

One of the most iconic scenes ever made in the history of cinema!
Film companion thanks for sharing. Imtiaz Sir I am simply awestruck. thanks for sparing your time for wonderfully breaking down the scene and explaining the subtleties for the audience Tamasha is one of the best works in recent times of Hindi Cinema.
Imtiaz sir is a gift to the industry.. its not everyone's cup of tea to understand his work...
This scene will live forever... How can you write such sence...this is insane
Thank god for imtiaz ali. I mean without this director we wouldn't have the opportunity to see film like this in bollywood which presents the realistic situations in a dramatic way.
Thank you so much Film Companion for this. ❤️
Always wanted the insight for this scene.
A brilliant movie...mene jab ye movie dekhi i was like kyae ye is it my story? Theatre se nikal ke i was jus constantly thinking. Thanks to this movie it helped me become what i should....varna shayad uss hi duad mei bhagti rehti. Idk ye movie hit kese kyu ni hui.... it was superhit for me. So relating it is.
I loved this film the first time I watched it and knew it that it’s a cult film. Iconic scene, great acting, story telling, direction, cinematography and the magic of Rahman. How can anyone not like this beautiful film?
Thank you so much for sharing the insights, the process and the trivia. Loved it.
I love the song. And 'Tamasha' happens to be a favorite film of mine that I can watch again and again.
Ranbir kapoor is undoubtedly the finest actor of Modern era of Indian cinema. He is the epitome of Purely subtle & nuanced performances.
His acting skills are exquisite & his expressions are simply beyond everything. This lad is a Talent Unimaginable & He is going to be a Legend. Mark my Words
Film Companion, thank you for this segment!
I am already emotional and having goosebumps 😍😍😍what a scene.... Hatsoff guys...owwww
Tamasha is just not a movie it's just a saga of emotions hats off to Imtiaz sir for giving the character Ved & Tara I wish sir to make such masterpiece with Ranbir & Deepika
WOW! I was just listening to the song and i saw film companion... Thank you FC and thank you Imtiaz for this endearing film.... so underrated!
Not a big fan of Imtiaz but I love how he understands his own films so well. Not a lot of filmmakers can do that
Hats off to imtiaz sir, Ranbir, Deepika and everyone who was a part of this masterpiece of emotional, thought provoking and cult film.
