Ur observation is good, but comparing amitabh, Irrfan is not quite right I think, I agree Irrfan is great actor but credit must also given to Mira Nair who is master in sculpting characters, and I believe if amitabh bachchan ever work with Mira Nair it would be one of the greatest performance of his career.

"Sometimes I feel that Irrfan did his job so effortlessly that we forgot that he was not that character." - Spot on. I feel like this is the primary reason why that after his death many people felt like they have lost a family member yet they don't know that they considered him as one. He so effortlessly blended in our everyday worldview which can only be consciously felt so deeply by its absence.

You have done an incredible analysis. There are 3 scenes of Irrfan sir, from 3 movies, which will remain with me forever
    :
    1. "Everyday since then has been a gift..." says Irrfan to his son (Kal Penn), as he explains the rationale behind the name 'Gogol'
    (Movie: The Namesake)
    2. "Don't you ever cut your bloody vegetables on the office files" Irrfan chides Nawazuddin Siddiqui, without looking up at him
, while just having saved him from getting fired (Movie: The Lunchbox)
    3. "Burden, burden... emotional blackmail karke pata nahi parents ko kya sukh milta hai" Irrfan stops the car, visibly irritated, and looks neutrally to say it out, almost like a soliloquy (Movie: Piku)

The "Namesake" is the first movie with Irfan Khan that I have ever watched. I immediately fell in love with his acting skills. His jodi with Tabu was amazing, no words needed to describe their mutual love, affection and respect, it was all about the aura. May his soul rest in peace!

But i wanna tell you that i just took a bite of my bread butter and started the video. And after 10 minutes i realised i have been just holding my bread in my hand (with just the initial bite) and my mind was imagining what you were conveying.

Both played Bengali uncles of totally different kind. While Irrfan's character in Namesake was calm, subtle yet vulnerable at times, Bachchan's character was that of a loud mouth, cranky, critical, living life on his own principles. Even though I agree Irrfan Khan's level of acting is higher than BigB, but still comparisons shouldn't be made between 2 characters because the characters are poles apart at the very script level.

Honestly I have tried to live this charecter of ashok. His English has an impeccable bengali accent. I am sure this charecter is more bengali as in the cultural way of life (like their house in Kolkata bit broken and messy, the jamai soshti handfan with red dips on the ends, the curly usually uncombed hair, liberal traits in an orthodox setup, the loose pants style usually famous in Mithun Chakraborty movies in 90s , the shy romance, square and thick fram) than most people who are Bengalis like myself. Sometimes unknowingly I try to walk smoke and try to look( I never shave off my moustache trim it and keep it sharp) like ashok. It's weird but I find it quite liberating. I truely feel the pangs of separation from this amazing actor. Little would he ever know how deep he has impacted my charecter. Haha. Life's amazingly uncertain.

His portrayal in the movie is a testament to his unparalleled talent, where every expression, every nuance, is a brushstroke on the canvas of human experience. The combination of technical prowess showcased in this video and the heartwarming narrative of "The Namesake" resonates on a profound level.
I found myself swept away by the waves of emotion, and Irrfan's performance touched the deepest chords of my heart. His ability to convey complex emotions with such subtlety is a rare gift, and it's evident that he poured his soul into this role.
Watching this video was a poignant reminder of the immense loss the world of cinema experienced with Irrfan's passing. His legacy lives on in moments like these, where his artistry continues to move and inspire.
Thank you for creating and sharing this touching tribute to Irrfan Khan's brilliance. It brought tears to my eyes, serving as a beautiful reminder of the power of storytelling and the impact one exceptional actor can have on our hearts. 🌟🎬 #IrrfanKhan #TheNamesake #MasterfulActing #CinematicGenius

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful video where we can see Irrfan’s brilliant art minutely. As we now he is an actor who do his art effortlessly using his eyes. Now come to know how excellent way he is using body too.
Amazing gem as an actors as a human being true, honest, god of simplicity, humble, give so respect to all, hard working, his life is open to all.
He is so real in his life and in his act. Definitely no one can match him. Today’s actors can’t copy him too.
He will be always around us. We can learn so many things from him.He must love this video!

A really beautiful analysis! Through your video i consciously looked at his nuances which, earlier, i had only absorbed subconsciously. Even the film you chose for analysing is perfect, because Namesake is the one of the few films that really shows the brilliance of this wonderful actor. On the day we got his news, and while watching this video and The Namesake, there was really a lump in the throat and an emptiness in the heart! Great video! :)

Its a must watch. You can buy it on TH-cam: th-cam.com/video/__BT2awCasg/w-d-xo.html. Also read the book first. the focus of the book is more Nikhil, but in the movie it shifts somewhat to Ashima....Ms. Nair's finest work. Watch the movie with the directors commentary as well. Its a great experience.

Wow ! I am feeling relieved, I would watch any artistic movie multiple times 10 times or even more because I am never satisfied with what I learn as various aspects of acting skills. People would label me as weird and stupid for doing so, but your analysis shows me I am not doing anything wrong. It is an art to do so and not getting bored unlike all.
I loved Irfan Khan for his simplicity, on the day I received his news I with mom watched his aap ki adalat episode watched 2 of his great movies - Maqbool and Madaari.
May he rest in peace and his work will always be an inspiration and also a tutorial for all those who aspire greatness !

Really cant get over , watching his movies again and again, just to see those subtle and nuanced expressions of this legend!! You have done a good job! The point that you made on Piku was right...he was living in that character...there is one scene in which he talks to his mother, the pitch, tone .....but bollywood is about stardom, lineage , and he was right that he wanted to do something with substance...he did magic and left with beautiful memories and moments that one would cherish in reel and real...

Amazing analysis!! I couldn't hold back tears while you're analysing Ashok's phone conversation with Ashima. And rightly pointing out the difference of portraying a common Bengali man between the two stalwarts, one a mega star of commercial films and another for whom I don't even have superlatives! The fact that his demise means so personal to millions of movie lovers is a testament to the fact of his mastery over his craft. Thanks for the video

Don't know why, but it always looks that Respected Irfan Khan, was not a actor.. he is like a person that you can seat next to him and talk to him without any fear for being such huge name, never had this kind of feeling for any other actor or actress... he was so kind by his nature.. so big by his work.. I saw him him first in Chandrkanta (Serial on DD1)... In the end just want to pray for him.. again and again and again. God bless him and huge respect for such human... Always remember him....
