  • I took this Banca boat from Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines to Getafe port in northern Bohol Island. This was the start of a tour of Bohol. These small ferries called Banca boats come in various sizes and designs and have outriggers on each side for stabilization. It is an interesting journey for those not subject to seasickness. The piers and ports vary and many are being improved. Transportation and tour offers are often offered upon getting off the ferry.

    I like ferries as well. I also like trains. Planes are bad for your health IMO. Certainly a lot more room than planes. Even if you do have the right of way, relative size matters!

      Thanks Anthony. Ferries can be more relaxing although some can get crowed also. It is too bad there aren't more trains in the PH.

    Hello and thanks for your video. I'm going to tour Bohol soon. I fly to Mactan. Do you know if I can drive from Mactan to Getafe with a Banca boat? Or which means of transport are available here?

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want to go to Getafe in the north part of Bohol I think you have to leave from Pier 1 in Cebu City Leonardo. Things change so there may be transport boats from Mactan but I am not aware of any. You can take a fast ferry from Pier 1 also going to Tagbilaran City in the south and take a bus north or rent a motorbike. Safe travels.

    Rod, very interresting vid. How long is the ride from Cebu to Bohol? Once we settle down there, we need to invite you. Come and visit us in Mindanao. I bet you can ride a ferry from Cebu to CDO.

    • @AmazingPhilippines1

      There are ferries to CDO and I would love to come visit. This trip was about 1 1/2 hour. Going to Tagbilaran City, Bohol takes closer to 2 hours. Thanks for watching Malou.

      Depending on no AC, AC or business class. AC was 500 pesos to Tagbilaran City and this outrigger to Getafe was about 160 pesos, I think Antonio. About 1 1/2 hour trip.

    Nice information! A trip to Northern Bohol we have been thinking! As living in Lapu-Lapu I know there`s this kind of bangkas or bancas which takes motorbikes also even these are smaller bikes! I noticed there were not any on that banca, am I right? Anyway soon to find out after a week when landing on Mactan. Thank you and God bless!

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There were no motorbikes on this trip. You may find other bancas from Mactan also as a commenter called lionhearted mentioned a port on Mactan that goes to Getafe in northern Bohol. Just ask the locals Leo.

    Thanks Rod... I didn't know there were other options in getting to Bohol... It looked to me like the platform on the back of the boat would be more stable for sitting, although it would probably rough on your hind end.... Approximately how far is Getafe to Tagbilaran?? Thanks again...

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took a bus from Talibon, Bohol near Getafe to Tagbilaran City and it took about 2 1/2 hours I think. The cost was less than 200 pesos, $4 USD, as well. They have Vhire vans as well Bruce.

    I had never seen a banca boat as big as yours before. Actually, it looks like they are many of that size between Cebu and Bohol.
    Great video quality (colorful, bright and sharp) The 1080p setting is great even if it takes you some more time to upload.
    Thank you and take care.

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There many bancas about this size delivering people and goods to other islands and island hopping tours. Fishing bancas are usually much smaller with 1-5 people on them.
      I use the 1080 setting most of the time if there is something interesting to look at.
      Thanks for watching and commenting Shineamen.

    I think they want to get off first so they can get to their next mode of transportation earlier. Sometimes the bus or jeepneys have no seats available for latecomers.

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point John. There is always a scramble for available transport. In China 10 years ago I was literally pushed up the stairs into the plane even though we all had assigned seats. Some people are so impatient.

    Be careful on some Ferry boats that will take you or your group on a tour around some small islands in Bohol...the boats are fit to carry up to 20 passengers...but in my experience, I found out during our tour, that the Life jackets on-board are only for the crew of 5 on-board...

  • @ken24400
    @ken24400 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    And 1 crew member...had a knife on his waist...as if he is ready to kill anyone would take his life jacket during an emergency...but still, Bohol is so nice go to...
