  • Malapascua Island on the north end of Cebu attracts tourists from around the world and Filipinos as well. A bus, taxi, or van ride from Cebu City will get you to Maya Port where you can catch a "ferry" banca outrigger boat over to Malapascua Island. It is a favorite with scuba divers and snorkelers and has many resorts and dive shops.

    For those who suffer motion sickness in a boat or car the trick is to have ginger herbal medication and drink alot of ginger herbal tea starting the night before the trip..and to have a very light or no solid food just prior to the trip only fluids..Thanks too Rod for another top class video mate..Thumbs up from Australia.

      Thanks for that advice Albert. I have seen ferries handing out sickness bags on a couple of rough trips.

    Thanks for sharing, Rod! Recently got over to Bantayan, and although lots of fun it was so very sunny! Maybe the water wouldn't be so wavy during the coming dry season? These unique to the Philippines bangka boats are also referred to as pump boats here:) One thing I often notice on steep steps here, that most of the time there are no railings! I'm pretty agile I think, but I can be a klutz at times, so I'm not sure if all the jumping and climbing in the sun is my style.:0 Once on land it looked looked like fun though.:)

    • @AmazingPhilippines1

      LOL. No railings and it would be easy enough to take a tumble and that could hurt and ruin the day....or week Regina. Have fun and stay safe.

    *Screw Ytube and their new policy of mandatory ads/commercials that have plagued us all*
    *Good news: there soon will be an alternative platform we can all move to.*
    *Let's all hope Ytube goes bankrupt. Amen*

      I don't care for ads either eliaso but at present it is the only way any of us make a little money for all of the time and effort.

    Perhaps a vhire would be the faster option to Maya Port.

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Vhire might be a bit faster but they can get very cramped for space it they get a full load of people.

      @@AmazingPhilippines1 agreed. I have in the past bought an extra seat for my backpack so I can travel comfortably.

    Rod,
    I was telling a guy I know about my interest and toying with the idea of relocation to the Philippines. He said that there were documentaries about the Philippines mainly made by expats on TH-cam. I told that I've been watching them but there's one guy that I'm subscribed to and regularly follow. He replied, "No, you have to watch this guy, he's real good." As he's saying this, he's writing on a scrap of paper. He says, "Here, check this guy out." I look at the paper and says "Amazing Philippines" His name is Pat and I'm guessing he's right around your age. He also lives in Gilbert. By the way neat video

      @AmazingPhilippines1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL. So cool Daniel. You just made my day. I am humbled that I have that much of an affect on future expats.

    Hi Rod,
    Thanks for recording, editing and uploading!
    Sub'd and liked!
    In one of your vids you mentioned a service ? (Asian Pacific?) which will carry over cars, truck s, etc...to other island s?
    Can't find it now.
    Can you share that screen shot again?
    Lastly, if I want to contact you via eMail for biz inquiries? what would that be?

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks spicer. My email is noisemasters@gmail.com.
      Most of the RORO (Roll on Roll Off) ferries will provide that service. There are several ferry companies and each has its own routes to certain islands. You can check online for the options or some newspapers list shipping companies and schedules also.

    Nice to see Malapascua again Rod, it brought back some memories. Our crossing was really rough and took a long time as the boat went really slow. I hope you enjoyed your break from the city, thanks as always for sharing your experiences there.

      Thanks Brian. This was my 3rd trip to Malapascua. I don't mind a little rough if it is safe to travel and the boat is not overloaded.

    Excellent detail and colour Rod, what a lovely place, north of where our house is, but as i have said, i am not a touristy type, so i have never seen this place.
    Lina said there are many foreigners residing there, in paradise. Someone else said it, but i will say it too Rod, you are living the good life,
    and why not. Cheers amigo.

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Bob. This is my 3rd trip to Malapascua. I have an Aussie friend who has a hotel and dive shop there. I had hoped to do some snorkeling but got busy with entertaining my "guest" gf. Many of the tourists are younger divers but there are also several "senior" divers. I asked a few people what a house would rent for and didn't get many good answers. 10,000/month was a common figure when they saw this foreigner and their eyes lit up....so I think there may be an island-wide conspiracy to raise rent prices.

    That looked to be a great adventure. If we ever get to Cebu, I am gonna have to get you to be our tour guide! You are getting out and about some now and looks like your finding new places to visit along the way.
    I enjoy riding the boats. I enjoy the waves and cutting through or across them. I have not gotten sick on one yet.

      Thanks Mark. This is a scuba and snorkeling paradise but I didn't do any of that on this trip unfortunately. The threshers are an awesome site as are the millions of sardines. I think they also have hammerheads in the area.
