Love seeing old crafts passed down through generations ,Iwas lucky being raised and taught by my grandfather so my work is out of place in this age of computers .Still its important to preserve the old skills and appreciate heart mind and soul being part of a product in this world throwaway consumerism!

Thank-you...Brian, yes hand built Wood boats are rare these days. I Live in beautiful Mayo, Florida. Seminole Indians here still build canoes only they use one large log from Cypress tree. They burn log and scrape out the hull. Form shape as they work. Canoes last 100 or more years. One canoe was found on bottom of Silver springs in Ocala, Florida in good shape, They say it could be 300 years old. I really enjoy your findings. Thanks again. Tad.

I'm with you Brian that work and those type of tools are fantastic. It looked like that shallow gouge was in the family for generations.

Couple of those 45 foot hulls with cross bridges, make a great base for a wooden houseboat on a fish pond somewhere!
