I am mainly a high end prewar, postwar and MPC collector and pretty much ignore the newer stuff. But in 2010 I had to have that VL 700E and I use it to pull my Railchief cars. The inside cab detail and lighting has to been seen to be appreciated.

Love the swinging bell feature on that Hudson. Close 2nd to the sliding door feature on my Acela but yours has less of a chance of breaking. Another great vid!
That was a great unboxing Chris! Those sounds from the NYC hudson were awesome. The Delaware & Hudson RS11 is a fine looking engine. It's cool to see the old running along with the new. It's amazing to see how far technology has come in what was in the beginning, just a toy. Thanks for the video!

Great job as always. I too have the Southern ABA units. If I had to do it all over again my collection would only be the F3s throughout the Lionel Modern era. These units are so colorful and impressive looking on the track and there's such a wide variety of road names to collect. The Southern was an especially good find. Another is the New Haven. The paint scheme is fantastic. Take care.

I actually purchased the 100th Anniversary Gold Hudson back in 2000. I display it in it’s display case along with the add on gold caboose in purchased for it. I love the way all of these Hudson’s look.
We had a "Hudson Show n' Tell" night at the collector's club a month or so ago. One of the guys brought in the "Holy Grail," a 700E! What an exquisite piece of work it was. When asked (but not by me) "What did you pay for it?" his answer was brief and to the point: "Too much!" I DID ask him how well it ran. He was also to the point: "I'm afraid to find out!"
I love the D&H engines I got o the Adirondacks and on a now abandoned part of the line now owned by a rail bike company a old D&H engine that worked once but now Rusty

The Lionel diesels will run on any 3-rail track (including MTH track). Depending on the engine, some can run on O36 and others (typically the SD models and larger) require O54. Great question!
Xmas in april 😃.chris I have a question.in researching those f3s I read they are poor performers and nylon geared.i would love to hear your opinion.I passed on obtaining that set.I still love the color scheme.the southern tuxedo is one of the best.the vision line is stunning
Hey William- great question. My experience with this Southern F3s has been positive. It does not have the pulling power of the Post War versions but it is very consistent on my layout and pulls the lighter Southern Crescent passenger cars with no problem. Thanks for watching!
I'll be honest with you. As a kid I hated diesel, mostly cause my little brother ruined it for me by breaking this giant, what I can tell now was O gauge, metal blue diesel model I found when I was eight. I also began to hate it when I learned they had horns instead of whistles as a child, oddly though the breaking of a metal O gauge made me hate them more? IDK kid me was weird, and that hate was reinforced by the character "Diesel Ten" from Thomas and the magic railroad, where the main villain is a diesel with a giant claw. so you can see why I would hate it. But as of late I've been more unsure of diesel, and was wondering if yo knew of any good diesel loco's that might give me a different perspective on them.
